How to sell my 99 Ford

My 99 F250 will be put out to new horizons as my new F 250 gets ordered. It has no problems at 176K. I will put it on Craighslist. Any recommended sites to give it good visibility and results?

RE: Storing your RV?

I live in central IL. I winterize mine, back it in the pole barn and hit the batt disconnect switch. Been doing it for 12 years at the current location. And I do have elec in there for shop usage. But I was not aware that my body ran like the RV frige. :h

RE: Fuel Price Gouging

The other scam that is rapidly growing all too common are the miracle pumps. In San Diego a couple of weeks ago I managed to put 16.6 gallons into a 16 gallon tank that was not empty. Didn't realize what had happened until I looked at the receipt the next day. :S You should have a state agency that checks the pumps. In Texas you call the Department of Agriculture, 800-835-5832 to lodge a complaint. They are the ones that check the pumps for proper delivery and the weight scales in stores. I think it is common for stations to have the computer/capability to be donig the miracle pump deal. Since i keep my vehicles too long it is easy for me to tell that when filling on the road. Right now i tow with diesel and have noticed that it seems that I always get an accurate (no gouge) amount of fuel at truck stops.

RE: Matching a truck with a fifth-wheel

Well it is early and I am bored and had too much coffee plus the OP had his mind made up when he posted. So maybe my idle comments will also be appropriate. :h Some day when I get more bored I swear I am gonna do some research and see how many times some of the posters have nothing more technical to post than ya gotta get or have a diesel. They must have that comment attched to their clip board when entering this site. :B On second thought I am in the process of selling my diesel and switching to gas. Maybe that "ya gotta have a diesel" or the thought of not having to change spark plugs every 100K will have folks beating the door down to buy my real truck.

RE: 5th wheels with these requirements

Whoah, I could not imagine attempting something like that. I would think that you are flirting with an emergency move to proper protection in the middle of a blizard.

RE: Filling water tank

wow, I wonder what genius thought of a system like the rocket described. I never had the pleasure of getting sprayed like some described - bet it was cus I was standing by the faucet or nearby to shut the water off. :h

RE: My 2 stroke outboard isn't running right

papa knows how to sort that out. That is if a timing light will run that long. The way you describe it, it sounds like spark to me. My issues with fuel in various engines normally are not intermittent.

RE: The old buggy met its match!

I think you did good. When i top the (I call it the Saluda mountain grind) on I 26 I am going 45 with the 99 powerstroke and the 11K fifth wheel.

RE: For those that think you don't need WD with a dually.

:h common you guys, you have to park with your butt or head into the wind. That is the way the animals do it.

RE: Sparker on the stove not working

On mine the wire leading to the burner was looped around the gas tube to the burner. The heat melted the insulation and then the wire shourted out on the burner pipe. Walla easy fix there.

Now the price on the F 250 gasser?

Thanks for all the good input on me switching to gas (an F 250 with 6.2). I been to a couple of places to get a price and came up to the conclusion that ordering a new Ford is like buying a big Mac. Find yourself a set of arches (in this case Ford sign) and just go in and order the thing because the price will be the same. Both stealers I went to came up with the same base price and the same Ford incentives and basically the same trade in value. I got to wondering if all they offer is the ford incentives, none of them offered me an in centive to buy from them? It won't bother me that much to sell my current 99 psd outright. Just wondering if there is a place like RV direct or what approach. Heck if the prices are the same everywhere, I don't need to beat the bushes? :h

Buying a 2011 or 2012 ford F250 Gasser - advice?

The time has come to replace the teen ager F 250. I swung thru the local Ford truck dealer today to get a brochure and probably will make a much more serious stop tomorrow. I am almost set on the 6.2 gasser for my needs. My fifth wheel weighed in at 10.5K dry with 1800 pin weight as i best recall - I will get the exact figures out of the file before I go in. The sales person said that 2011's are really not out there. Any basic thoughts or ideas? I really want to feel like i did not get hosed and yet get it over with and locally if possible

RE: Do I need slider or not?

Here is a no cost option for starters. First try a parking lot like Wally world and while pulling forward work up to a full turn with the truck while watching the front of the 5er. Bet it will not hit the back of the cab, but that is the way to find out. As far as 90 degree jacks I would never do that to my running gear. If I was to experiment I would find a surface other than asphalt or concrete. I don't know what RVers call a 90 degree jack back but I can tell you what it is on a semi. That is when you have the cab at a 90 degree angle to the trailer while backing up and the trailer axles are pivoting which amounts to the wheels sliding sideways. In this arc the trailer wheels are not turning but sliding sideways because of the pivot. Also on my F250 short bed when backing up - I could not do a 90 and keep backing because the turning radius of the truck would not be near sharp enough to maintain the 90, it would go immediately past. I been there, I cannot maintain near a 90 in reverse and have to keep going foreward to sake some of the jack out. I maintsin that my method will answer your question and you will not have to listen to my opinion or my urbsan legends. :W Hmmmmmm, I wonder how many hits I would get if I searched "cheap insurance?" Let us know how it works out.

RE: For those that think you don't need WD with a dually.

I watched the video 3 times. Me, I can see that it always was being shoved/blown to the left, not swaying back and forth. Then watch the terrain. When the wind effects were not heeded and as the traller came to the crest of the terrain where probably the wind was max without any interferance, the force was enough to tip it over. Just my take on it. :h

RE: ac freezing low vs high question

Mine has a frost/freeze sensor stuck in the evaporator coil. I found it had fallen out and stuck it back in and all is cool. It should be visible by pulling the inside trim/cover and looking at the inlet side of the evaporator coil.

RE: Questions on aux fuel tank

I have a 70 gallon aux. I pay no attention to how much is left in there and have always left it set around empty a lot. I have never had a water in fuel light and do not drain the fuel filter either. live in cetral IL

RE: Going from F250 to F350 - would you?

I think it is what you need and what suits your needs. If you ask a question like that you will always get the "do it now" comments from the folks that own the dually. i am happy with my SRW and also don't have the big butt to contend with. it suits my needs.

RE: Bathroom Tissue

this brings to mind a post from way basck in which someone said to save the paper that you have used in a paper bag by the toilet. Maybe I am making this part up but does it not make cute colors when you toss the stuff in the camp fire. :B

RE: wholesale rv dealers....annoy me ....

The wholesale guys are in business to sell new. Besides I agree with other folks that trading is just giving your oldie away. Most RV stealers will do a trade without even looking at what you are trading in.
