RE: Would you consider this truck if it was built?

Large pickups have hardly any market outside of the US, and as fuel prices climb this market will shrink too.

2800 miles without lifting the hood?
That's why I would never buy a rental vehicle.

RE: Ram front driveshaft service

It's much easier to just lift one front wheel with a jack so you can freely spin the shaft to locate the fitting.

RE: Some interesting reliability ratings

"Problems reported".
NOT problems measured. Only the warranty departments know for sure and they aren't telling.
I toss those surveys in the trash, as I expect most other satisfied owners do.

RE: Eco Boost tow review

I somewhat agree. If you only pull a few times a year a gasser would be a better choice, but you will be missing that smile that the diesel puts on your face when you push on the little petal. :B
Considering he traded from a 250 hp turbo engine to a 365 hp turbo engine, I expect his smile is only bigger now.

RE: Furnace gas usage question.

We often camp with temps around freezing at night. We use about 30# per week between furnace, hot water, and some cooking. That's with two of us.
We are usually out during the day and only heat during the night.

RE: 3rd chevy volt catches fire

hone eagle said "Solar will never be enough, even if we cover the entire plant with cells .
Wind is just a poor conversion of solar ,also never enough
All of them nuc power (from the sun)"
Not really. "The total solar energy absorbed by Earth's atmosphere, oceans and land masses is approximately 3,850,000 exajoules (EJ) per year. In 2002, this was more energy in one hour than the world used in one year."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_energy
We just need some improvements in the collector technology. It will come. We just don't know when.

RE: It all smells like "dog food".

Our dogs eat the same old taste every day, with just a bit of our food shared to spruce it up. They devour it and are in good shape.
We eat whatever we like, with just a bit of healthy food sprinkled in to assuage the guilt. ;) We pick over restaurants and menus and get bored just trying to decide what to eat. And we're out of shape.
I think I need to start eating like a dog.

I expect not.
Looks like standard boiler plate for just a long block to me.

RE: hauling a motorcycle in the truck while pulling your camper

Seems like everyone's been quite clear about their vehicles and how they differ, and he's not responded with any weight numbers. Therefore any speculation about his capacity is just that.
I have some toys that fit quite nicely in a half ton and within the weight ratings, too.

RE: 6-speed transmission perfectly wrong compared to old 4 speed

I had the F-150 3.73 six speed and it was dead on perfect. Sixth gave me 20 mph empty. Fifth towed great on the flats. The gear splits on the remainder were close enough that the rev changes were small between gears. I really liked that trans.

RE: Ford must have a say on here also!

Seems to me some parts of the picture are missing still. It's not that difficult to send fuel samples to a lab for analysis.
Would Ford pay a warranty claim when there was clear evidence of fuel contamination?
Would an insurer pay a claim if there was NOT clear evidence of same?
A very interesting situation, and a tough one for Ric for sure.

Been doing that for years. Sometimes a motorcycle, sometimes an ATV, or even a side by side two seater.

RE: Did we miss any attractions on our list by Fort Myers?

There is a park to view manatees by the FPL plant. Babcock-Webb WMA plus they have tours on the old Babcock ranch. Peace river in Arcadia you can do canoe trips. Fakahatchee strand is a nice Everglades drive. Marie Selby botanical gardens in Sarasota is nice. And Sarasota has some good Amish restaurants if you're into that.
You won't lack for things to do in that area.

RE: After market diesel fuel filters

I for one am not going to be "drinking the Kool-Aid". Life is way to short to stress over the small stuff. I have not had a single problem with any of my emissions diesel trucks and I will just go on living my life. I change fuel filters every other oil change and drain the water seperator frequently. I have a better chance of getting run over by a bus than I do of having HPFP issues.
+1. I just drive mine and maintain it by the book.
Everyone harps on the ULSD, but forgets that the injection pressure has gone up tremendously in the common rail systems. Older engines didn't run injector pressure at +20k psi. I'll leave it to Bosch to design the system to deal with whatever spec the refineries are cooking. And Cummins / Fleetguard to deal with the filtration needs.
