RE: LCD TV Slide Out Tray

I have a friend who took out their old tv, shortened the box and attached his lcd by hooking it to the backside of the cabinet...works well but isn't clean like what ackerman1 shows. I am anxious to see where he got the backet and more detail of the work done.

RE: Noise from hot water line

Just had a similar experience with what I referred to as the water heater "singing" when water was running. Turned out to be the check valve on the water heater a relatively inexpensive part and simple to fix. Its worth checking.

RE: edisto state park

We didn't stay....while we had reservations unfortunately we arrived late and were forced to go to the "forest campground" which was lousy to be polite. It was so bad, we left after getting our money back which was done gracefully on both sides. We had a 38' motorhome at the time and the road through the park was not made for larger camping units. I'm sure the beach and other amenities are nice but I won't go back.

Comparison of Delorme topo 5 to new topo 8

Just received a blurb regarding upgrading to the new Topo 8 from Delorme and wonder if anyone has tried it yet or could compare it to Topo 5 (which I thought was the previous version). Is it worthwhile?

RE: Singing Hot Water Heater

My hot water is now singing silently....yes it was a damaged or flawed check valve and a simple fix. Thanks for advice.

Singing Hot Water Heater

I have a unique problem with my pipes or hot water heater singing mostly when I turn on the hot water for anything. I have tried emptying the tank, bleeding off some of the water via the temperature/pressure valve. I have not been able to find the specific source and there are no leaks anywhere. Pump does not cycle when water is not used for any length of time (which would indicate a hole or leak somewhere) and it does it whether by pump or shore pressure. Pressure is maintained. It is an Atwood 10 gallon E/G and is 5 years old. Literature and manual indicates only the one pressure relief valve....could there be another? I have not been to the dealer yet but am looking for ideas for resolution.

RE: Highway 89 from Bryce Canon NP

We are trying to plan a trip to that same area....did you come into Zion from the West on Hwy-9 then proceed to Hwy-89 and then North to Bryce? Where on the route did you encounter the drop offs? Did you by chance come up Hwy-89 thru Paige Arizona? It was my understanding that Hwy-89 was a pretty well maintained road and not particularly narrow or difficult.
Neither one of us is fond of heights and the mountain roads do worry us somewhat but I would appreciate any advice allowing us avoid the extremes.

RE: CG recommendations for Manmouth Caves, Ky

I too would recommend Cave Country RV Park at Cave City. Nice park and close to things. I would also recommend the Mexican Restaurant just up the road. Good food and both the campground and restaurant are easy on the pocketbook.

RE: RV Fires

We lost our coach almost two years ago to what was later determined to be of electrical origin at the back of the coach near the diesel engine. We became aware of the fire, rushed out only to see how quickly a fire can destroy a good coach. If I were to suggest anything relative to fight the fire again it would be useful to use a foam to perhaps stop things sooner. I would also suggest familiarizing your people with propane tanks and their safety items that as I understand are built into the tanks that would limit the explosion possibilities. (While I won't criticize our local volunteer fire dept...their hesitancy in dealing with the fire because of fuel and propane was very apparent) The tanks did not catch fire but the plastics and other materials were consumed unbelievably fast.
The only other comment I might make relative your request is that it's good to hear particularly with the number of rv's on the road that someone is spending some time relative to fireprevention in their respect.....Thanks

RE: Mammoth Caves, Kentucky

There is a private campground in Cave City nearby that's called Cave Country RV Park right off the interstate. Its relatively new, reasonable with all pull through full hookup and wifi. Its close to Mammoth Cave and in town there is a great Mexican restaurant.

RE: $800/mo in Florida Possible?? Ideas?

Most prime spots are more than the $800.....closer to $1,000 and don't forget the usual extra charges for electric. One thing we have noticed this year is the number of cancellations which should allow you to bargain a little. Good luck.

RE: Encore RV park Crystal River, Florida

We have also stayed there and the no seeums drove us out. Encore is another problem all together....the comment relative to making a fast buck is appropriate at some of their other parks as well. We have spent a substantial number of years at Sunshine Key in the Keys which is owned by Encore and are very disappointed with changes they have been making there. Management does not seem to care about their old regulars and continues to institute policies to the detriment of what was a considerable customer base. Higher charges continue but without any improvements that would warrant the price increases. I could go on, but the bottom line is I avoid encore parks!
