RE: Okay, I was wrong....bought a dually

We switched to a dually 7 years ago and havent looked back. Absolutly no comparison between the two when it comes to heavy campers. It seems its a learning curve most just have to go through.
Congrats on the new truck.

RE: GM or Dodge dilema

As others have stated, Dodge drw's had a 12000 gvwr. SRW 1 tons had the 9900 gvwr.

RE: 99 Lance 820 ready for the Dump

Have you gotten an estimate from a shop for the repairs?
If the damage is isolated to the front nose, it might not be that expensive to repair.
A new lance is well over $20,000 now. Might be worth it to put a couple grand into it if everything else is in good shape.

RE: Cummins/Ram snow plow mode

Nice feature.
I've plowed snow commercially for many years and have never been comfortable seeing the temp gauge climb toward hot when traveling between jobsites. It'll be nice to see them run cooler.

RE: How much air in the airbags?

We ran about 60 in one truck and 90 in the other. Every rig and load is different. You will need to try many different pressures to find what works best for you. I know +/- 10 psi can make a big difference.
Good Luck,
Brad
I agree.
Ive hauled campers on several different rigs over the years and each one seems to be a bit different. My old Ford prefered 70-80 PSI, while my current Dodge likes it aroud 60 PSI so the overloads are still in contact. Play around a bit with the pressures and you'll find what works best.

RE: Controlling Condensation?

Cracking open a roof vent is a good idea. Also, use your rangehood vent over your stove if you have one. Cooking meals gives off more moisture then you think.

RE: First Major Trip with Lance 820

We used to have a similar set up. Back in 03 I had an 820 sitting on an 03 Ford, CC, 7.3 SRW 1 ton. Airbags, Ranchos, and a swaybar made for a good setup that handled the camper well.
I'm sure your going to enjoy it. We sure liked ours.

RE: How long do these things last?

I've still got the original batteries in my 04 dodge. The truck has a build date of September of 03 so they are now 8 years old and still crank the engine over like new. They are by far the longest lasting batteries I've ever had. But in full disclosure, the truck only has 43000 miles on it and gets parked for most of the winter.

RE: different kind of diesel vs gas

Fuel stabilizer and a battery tender and either one will handle 6 months of storage just fine.

RE: Cummins Fuel Economy Hauling 4K + Lb TC?

Speed makes a big difference. I can get around 14 with mine if I keep it under 60. 70 MPH drops it to 12 - 12.5
