RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Here is a list of retailers that sell it. Thats awesome I need to buy some myself! I went to two local Ace Stores and the local True Value Store and none carry it nor would they order it!!!!! We live an hour from any large "box store" so I guess if I want to get a roll it will be an internet purchase............ I found them at Harbor Freight is several sizes. They come with finished edges & grommets. Sun-Shades-At-HB They are on sale as of this posting. http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_13823.jpg width=600

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

We use those fire place scissor type tongs. Nice to be able to grab a hold of a log for repositioning. Always kee on eye out at garage sales as well. So far we have found two more that are put on stand by lol We use the scissor type also along with a traditional poker. Got them about a year ago on sale at Ace Hardware for about $15 for the pair.

Thank you for the pic. I tried to find it online and was unsuccessful. Any chance you could provide us with the SKU bar code numbers? Or a link to it if you have it. Thanks! :) Got a Home Depot near you? Home Depot shade cloth Amazon has some too. Amazon Shade Cloth I'm gonna get some for my garden and the left over will be used on the camper. Thank you for the links. Would you believe not one of the 6 Home Depot near me stock it. I suppose I will have to order some online.

RE: How do I keep TT from freezing in storage during RV season?

I wold not worry about it. For one night around freezing it should not cause any problems. X2. It has been down as low as 24 for a night or two and no problems with mine. X3 Never had a problem if it's not an extended cold spell.

RE: Will I be able to tow this??????

If it's like my GM truck, there is a "tow" button on the shifter... use it anytime your towing something that heavy. If you don't the tranny will "search" constantly for gears. Besides, that same tranny that's is in it, and many other GM trucks and cars is not really suited to tow much weight. Keep a close eye on the tranny temp (hope you have the gauge) or you may soon learn what a sprag clutch is.

RE: Will I be able to tow this??????

Not enough truck, you will regret it. We tried towing our new to us 18 1/2' fiver with a 4.0 liter Ranger. According to Ford specs it should have handled the load but two trips proved otherwise. You had a Ranger which is a compact pickup, and you pulled a 5'er with it??? Pics or it didn't happen! :D And for the OP - Towing Information

RE: "service" codes on 2012 Chevrolet assistance needed

Service codes can be reset. Do an internet search for that. On my GM truck you insert the key into the ignition to the on position (not start) and press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times. Then remove the key. That resets the oil life monitor. Don't do that Shoot, your right... my mistake. Do the ignition key steps but instead of stepping on the pedal, plug in a scanner while the key is "on" (not started) then toggle through and select "body control module," then "codes," then "clear all codes." I believe that is correct. Anyways, since it is practically brand new he is right to take it in.

RE: "service" codes on 2012 Chevrolet assistance needed

If you reset them and there is still an issue present the warnings would return. I understand you wanting a safe vehicle and since it is brand new, a trip to the dealer seems to be in order.

What ever caused it, hopefully it didn't damage the computer. Do you have, or can you borrow a code scanner to see if it has thrown any codes?

RE: homebuilt motorhome

Not really. The picture I posted is actually Chuck Wagon's RV. Well let someone know! I would of never known by looking at that photo that it was home built. He must be a heck of a craftsman!

RE: "service" codes on 2012 Chevrolet assistance needed

Sounds like the ground you chose may not have been a ground after all. Maybe you back fed power into the system. Modern vehicle electronics are very sensitive. You didn't say which wire fried? Hot wire or ground?

RE: Cool Mods

From Dictionary.com.....dowels don't have to be round. They just have to be pegs in holes. Who knew. Not me. Not sure why we are discussing this, but it sure is fun. Anyways... I could only find references to round dowels on Dictionary.com other than the words, "usually round" I could find nothing that said "dowels don't have to be round". The only references to "square dowel" seem to be on retail sites. Dictionary.com: dowel @danager: they do say "boxing ring" and technically a ring is round. http://bestsmileys.com/clueless/7.gif

RE: Cool Mods

"on the square dowels" As I was reading the thread about using "dowels" for shelf brackets, I wondered why anyone would want to use a round rod for a bracket. In the previous message, I saw the reference to "square dowels" and then looked up dowels in both Wikipedia and dictionary.com and they define dowels as "solid cylindrical rods." However, I do see "square dowels" listed in Google search results, so apparently someone decided to change the definition of "dowel." I thought I would point this out for others who may have been confused about this also. I too was envisioning someone using a round "dowel" for a shelf support. I assumed they used the wrong word for what they really meant since using a "dowel" wouldn't make much sense.
