RE: grey/black water dumping

I built a seperate septic tank out of a 55 gallon drum, with a small drainfield. I actually built this system to use when I had hunting dogs, and it served my kennels. I ran a 2" line from the tank to inside the barn where I store my rig, and empty the gray water tank into the PVC. I always drain and flush the black tank at the Flying J right down the road while I fill the fuel tank before ending the trip. I have had good luck with this system.

RE: Beaver MH???

2007 Beaver Contressa, and we love it. We have 34,000 miles, have had some issues, but none were Monaco's fault.

RE: I made a genturi

I used thinwall 3" pvc drain pipe. it does not get so hot that it will melt or get soft, enough cool air comes in around the venturi to cool the exhaust. Leave about 1 1/2 tp 2" between the top of the sweep and the bottom of the 3" pipe for airflow.

RE: Monaco Diplomat 42' Tag...Should I?

Drive the coach and see the difference for yourself, then decide. I'm in the "once you have a tag, you'll never go back" crowd, and went from a 37 to a 42' tag. If the coach has a warranty, and you like the floorplan, go ahead and sell yours, then buy the new one.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Painted my new homemade Genturi. Let it dry and stored it away. Spent about an hour trying to get the rig positioned in the storage barn where all 4 slides would open. Found that the barn is 2" too narrow to open all four. What a Bummer!

RE: HR Imperial diesel pusher 40' - 1987 - $20K

I could go with the 3208, but that pink interior would be too much for me.

RE: Good Morning

I'll be really interested to read your review on the basement freezer. How big is it?

RE: GRAY TANKS FILL TOO FAST...

Just make sure to park over a prairie dog hole, you would be amazed how much gray water will go down that hole.

RE: First time to drive a 42' motorhome

Also remember that you have a large "no see um" zone in front. Have someone stand in front of the coach while you are in the driver's seat and slowly back up until you can see their feet. It is probably 12-14 feet in front of you. Adjust the small convex side mirrors according to the instruction found on the Lazydays drivers course. They can really be your friends, Use the mirrors to help position you correctly in the lane of travel. Really anticipate stopping distance, someone will invariably cut into your safety zone, just slow down and restore your interval.

RE: Oil Change Interval based upon oil sample results

If you plan to go that route, and it's not a bad thing, I suggest you install a Fumato valve in place of your oil pan plug. This will make sampling the oil much easier. remember to bring the engine up to operating temperature before taking the sample (just as you would if changing the oil). The valve can be easily installed without draining the crankcase by creating a vacuum in the engine with a shopvac hose in the oil fill tube and then swapping the valve for the plug (cold engine).

RE: What's in your basement?

I keep lots of stuff in plastic bins, kinda sorted as to use and just put in the ones I think I will use on that trip. The ones that always stay in are: propane grill, butane cooktop, electic skillet, electric deep fryer, 4 drawer tool chest, bins with: 1 safety equitment; spares for engine(oil, filters, belts, coolant, etc.); cleaning supplies; cooking gear ( including propane, butane, tongs spatulas and firestarters); flyfishing gear; stepladder; 4 camp chairs; two camp tables; spare parts (H2O pump, blueox parts, etc.); outdoor lights. Then when applicable; water toys; other fishing gear; air mattress and linens; and Lots of stuff I've forgotten is there.

RE: Florida T.P or I95

Get a Sunpass and have it activated bwfore the trip. It's well worth the trouble.

RE: Fishing Guides around West Yellowstone Area

Coug has given you good advice. I would go to the nearest large sporting goods store ( Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, etc) and select a 4-5 weight fly rod/reel combo and learn to cast at home. There are some very good instructional DVD's that will get you thru the basics. I have a couple of rods that i bought at Gander for around $150 or so for the combo that work just fine for a beginner. If you have a local Fly shop in the area, you can find an instructor to help you learn to FISH with the fly rig. Then, when you go to Yellowstone, you'll have some basic knowledge so the guide can help you fish there. Good luck.

RE: New coffee Maker what brand coffee

Our Kuerig sits on the kitchen counter beside the "Mr. Coffee". DW occasionally makes a cup in the evening for her "Bailey's", but in the morning we use the Mr. Coffee with whole bean 8 O'clock Columian (in the brown bag), ground that morning. If I make a cup with the Keurig, I grind the beans and make it with the little filter cup.

RE: Seperate fuel filter for generator?

All you can do with the clothes that you get soaked with diesel fuel is to take them to the laundramat and wash/dry them, put them in a plastic bag, seal and then use them the next time you change a fuel filter. You will never get the smell out. I think the safest way to change that filter is to do it in the nude.:)

RE: Seperate fuel filter for generator?

Gensets all draw their fuel from a seperate line which only extends into the tank about 3/4 of the way, so when the genset runs out, there's still some fuel to get you to the station. Changing that filter on the Onan is a real pain.

RE: ball hitch

Yes, you can do that. They make ball mounts in all manner of offsets.

RE: How few miles

About 16 miles to a campground near the Marina where we keep or Sportfisherman when we fish multi day tournaments, more often about 35 miles to the St. Johns River near our Condo. We let the kids and grandkids stay in the Condo and we stay in the motorhome.

RE: How Tall

My radio antenna hits at 13'4". I made my sill plate height 14' to accomodate the motorhome and my boat. Unfortunately, when I built this barn, I built the width about 2" too narrow to be able to open all the slides. The first motorhome fit with lots to spare, but with the new one, I can only open the curb side slides and the road slides about 3/4 of the way. In other words, make it as big as you can afford.
