RE: Farewell Bend State Park, Oregon

Nice camp, we were there in May last year water was real low and they were upgrading 1/2 the park so some was closed, the area closed had more shade and more private spots, The Brownlee lake was down a lot as they were expecting a lot of run off. Spent a couple of nights there.

RE: 2005 Chevy 2500HD 8.1 Litre

We do not tow a trailer but carry a TC made a trip to AK, 8'000 miles, right around 10 mpg. We are @ 11'8'' tall. When we left home we weighed 12,400 lbs. Picture in (my profile) on this trip we did not tow the Bronco. Ours is an 06 and has the 6 spd Allison in the 3500 dully CC with a flatbed and cannot say enough good things about the setup.

RE: Should c-pap settings be reevaluated occasionally?

Probably best person to ask is your Dr., every person has their own needs, as for mine I have had the same setting since the 80's and not gone back for evaluation but have not had change in sleep habits or change of symptoms. JMHO

RE: Charge it or cash?

Amen on the ATM. On our trip last summer to Alaska through Alberta and BC, we made the mistake of taking American cash and found that not all Canadian banks were eager to exchange it for Canadian funds. Bank of Montreal was the friendliest. Our next trip will include finding the first reputable ATM we can find after we cross the border to get Candian funds to handle the everyday stuff. Plastic was accepted nearly everywhere we went with no problem. Be sure to notify the card company and your bank that you will be travelling.

RE: How can I mod a slippery hitch step?

We use a fold out three step stepladder, I replaced the orignal slippery plastic tread inserts by going to the local autoparts store and buying self adhesive non skid strips, easy cut to size you need and very good adhesion on the aluminum steps.

RE: 12 volt lights

Could be when working on slide, the ground wire got damaged, unhooked or when they plugged it back in maybe only got hot side hooked properly.

RE: how does weight of toad effects Gas motorhome mileage

Sorry, cannot help with the Motorhome, I drive a 1 ton cc drw truck W/TC and tow a Ford Bronco, have tested it several times and I get better milage towing than not towing, it has to be the breakup of air behind the rig with the Bronco in tow. My first thought was the more weight I towed the less mpg I would get. Not so in my setup.

RE: Wannabe Questions

Personaly I would look @ the TC first, -- the reason for that is if you are looking @ a quad cab, and towing a boat you would have a short bed truck, then to hook up the boat you will need a hitch extension or a very short TC that did not hang over the bumper. If hitch extension is needed then the tow tongue weight would go up and this would make the TC weight heve to be even lighter. There will be others with imput also, JMHO

RE: new 3500 flatbed...

Don't you love the area under the sides down to the bed, I enclosed mine to keep out some of the moisture and to hide from prying eyes, I have compartments in the flatbed also, -- not short of storage room. Love your setup. See (my profile)

RE: Can't Seem to find it!!

Look into a flatbed for either truck, if you are already converting, look @ this also. The first thing to check is the COG of the camper, if it is behind the center of the rear axel, best look for a longer framed truck. JMHO

RE: Any ideas how to make foldable stairs for a lifted truck?

The steps we use are from (overstock.com) they fold up amd are bungied to the roof rack steps when we travel. There were several choices as to how many steps you need, 2-5 if I remember right. They are wide steps with tred mats, ours is the three step kind and I took the folding safety bar off and used it on my rear truck deck. See my profile or PM me.

RE: The Next Honda EU2000i Should [fill in the blank]

Change the orignal gas fill cap to one that can be used for an aux tank for extended run time and make this cap the orignal. This would save the customer time and expense and possibly an unsafe setup for an extra tank.

RE: How do you keep your generator from walking away?

When ours is not in use it is put in the compartment that it travels in, while it is in use it is on a cable locked to our tube steps on the truck.

RE: Electrical Issue

Sometimes finding all the GFI's is hard, I found the one that controls the outside plug on our rig in a upper cabinet, make another run @ searching for the GFI's and hopefully you will find one in a hidden place.

RE: flat bed for camper

There are some that have gone to flatbeds, me included, there may be some mods that are required to do to either the TC or the flatbed to make it work. Each camper / flatbed design needs to be figured into what and which needs to be addressed, my mods were to my camper as the wings on the camper would hit the flatbed so I shortened the wings and built the sides of the camper down to the top of the flatbed deck to add storage space. If you would like more info PM me, you can see some of the mods on (My Profile).
