RE: 2006 Fleetwood Sun Valley - Roof Qs, Towable with Sienna?

I used to tow a Sun Valley with a Mitsubishi Endeavor, which had a 3500 lb. tow capacity. The dealer put on a class III hitch and a sway bar. We also had a Podigy brake controller installed. No problems. Of course, it was just my DH and me. How many people/how much stuff are you going to put in the van? That could make a big difference.

RE: I still read books, the kind without batteries!

I like paper books. I like being able to hold the book and turn pages. It comes down to personal preference.

RE: Just for fun... jump rope dogs

Awesome! The dogs looked like they really enjoyed it, like the trainers said. The poodles with the dyed ears and tails were a riot!

RE: June 1st 2012 is "Save Calvin's Tooth Day"! p.5

You could try adding some diluted low sodium chicken or beef broth to the food to add to the aroma of the food. Add an extra cup of water to each cup of broth to dilute.

RE: Pepsi and Horse show

Soring (training with chains around the fetlocks of horses with a mild acid underneath) was rampant back in the 70's in both the TN Walker and the 5 Gaited horse industries - SICK, SICK, SICK! I rode 3-day event horses back then, and we hated this! I lived in TN at the time, and it was awful! Those poor horses had acid scars around their fetlocks. I'm horrified to think that it's still going on...

RE: I am thinking about becoming a teacher--looking for opinions

I'm retiring this year after 34 LONG years of teaching. Someone mentioned that you would have better discipline with a military background. Reality check: we're not allowed to have good discipline b/c parents will complain. You'll be called into the principal's office and told to be nicer. Been there, done that. Parents feel that their children can do no wrong. They want discipline, as long as it isn't THEIR child affected. With that being said, the principal of a school sets the tone. I'd do a lot of research into specific schools in your area to see how their run. You may want to sub at first, to see if it's really what you want to do.

RE: Why is my dog eating cat poop?

I'm sorry that you're having to witness the decline of your beloved dog. It's hard to watch, I know. We went through something similar with our lab, who lived to be 14 1/2. Enjoy him while you can; comfort him when he's agitated.

Great park and plenty to do in the area! Have fun! Get there early for a good slot - first come, first served.

RE: PUP Setup Time - Manual vs. Automatic

Try looking at an Aliner Scout or Ranger. They tow in a low low profile mode and can be set up in a minute or less - seriously! They're also very light and doable, as long as your Escape has a tow package.

RE: I want an RV!!

Sounds awfully heavy for a 1/2 ton. Maybe check out the Passports, which are lighter weight.

RE: Well, we're back to camping again

I'm SOOOO jealous! I'm retiring this year, so we're camperless until we see how things shake out financially. We hope to back in business within a year, maybe in an Aliner - somthing we can pull with my RAV4 V-6. We've stayed in hotels twice in the past few months - yuk! Some people are so loud and rude, talking loudly in the hall late at night. The last time, someone checked in near midnight, and let their toddler run up and down the hall screaming and playing for 30 minutes - really? Ugh! Oh, to have a camper again. I can't wait!!

I recommend a thundershirt. If it doesn't work, you get your money back.

RE: Pets while driving

Get a seatbelt harness for each dog and attach each dog to one. Since you have a motorhome, the seats should have seatbelts, right?

RE: Summer heat can be deadly without our being aware.

Here's a link to heat exhaustion/stroke in dogs: Heat Related Illnesses in Dogs. There's some good information in this article for our furry friends. As has been mentioned, extra care has to be taken care with brachycephalic (snubbed nosed) dogs. Here's an article about this type of dog and the extra care that must be taken with them: Brachycephalic Dogs: Short-Muzzled Breeds Need Extra TLC Here's a link to heat exhaustion in humans: Heat Exhaustion Symptoms Often times, we don't realize what's happening until it's too late, so be careful out there!

RE: If you could have one car back

2001 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 diesel engine. We got it loaded with zero percent interest. DH called it The Living Room - lol! It was great towing our heavy camper at the time, and our two kids LOVED traveling in it.

RE: I have been naughty.......

We didn't get a landline when we moved 10 years ago. All we got were telemarketers anyway, and we had to get an answering machine to screen our calls. We use our cell phones. At a store, when asked to give my phone number, I always politely decline. I'll gladly give my zip code for marketing purposes, but never my phone number.

RE: Looking for a small tent trailer

The smallest Aliner can be towed with a car. Check out the A-lite: Aliner Alite It's VERY tiny though...
