RE: heavy GVWR towing, at what speeds do you do?

We are 31K gross. No way would I go downhill at 75MPH! Normal speed on flat is 62/63. Uphill we use cruise and let the Allison & Cat talk about what gear/speed to use.

RE: home base state

Dianne, we also have a FL, and since '96 it has been insured as a private vehicle. Over that time, we have had Foremost, Miller's, Poliseek, and others, depending on rate that year. Truck is also inspected (when in state) as private and of course tags.

RE: Water stains on ceiling

Have had good results using a mild bleach solution in a spray bottle. Be sure and protect items under the area. Just spray and leave it for a while. If really bad, may take a couple applications.

RE: Oxidation Removal

Is your finish gelcoat? If so, you might want to check on NewGlass2, it is a process the restores (removes) oxidation by a multistep application. No rubbing.

RE: Fuel locations

Diesel is everywhere!! One concern is what are you fueling? A 40' MH would be a different concern that a PU. We have a FL60 and 38' 5th wheel, and would only need fuel about every 600 miles. We don't run below 1/2 tank, but if we are traveling, we generally use truck stops, i.e. FJ, Loves, Pilot, ETC. If bobtailing, anywhere its cheapest. Stay away from small out of the way stations, you want fresh fuel.
We are currently in Sherman, TX, and when we arrived, Wally had lowest price, so took truck (no Trailer EVER), had to fill one tank, turn truck around, fill other tank. There's always a way, just make sure if you are connected, there is a way in and out.

RE: You can save a lot (and I mean a LOT!) on oil changes!

You may also consider adding a by-pass filter. This will remove the "stuff" down to around 3 microns. This, along with syn will SAFELY allow entended drain intervals.

This is pretty normal for most truck wash facilities. We have used them for 15 years and have been satisfied.

RE: Sorting Out Advice!

Suggestion.. we spent 3 years before buying anything visiting factories of the units we were interested in. All have tours of the production lines where you can see under the floor, behind walls, etc. If you decide to take this path, in Kansas there are three well built units, with great service.
In Smith Center, Excel (Peterson Industries), in Chanute, Hitchiker (NuWa) and Junction City, Horizon (New Horizon). After that, a trip to Indiana will pick up most of the others.
You can then hit the ones in Indiana if desired.

RE: Hott Rod with lp/elec hot water heater

Most likely the WH breaker won't hold two elements. Why not just turn on the gas portion along with the electric? Heats a lot faster, doesn't hurt a thing.

RE: blew something!!

Its doubtful you have any "fuses" in your 120vac system. You should have all breakers, as mentioned, check inverter if you have one.

RE: Reverse Osmosis (RO) System

Lets try one more time.. you want to recycle waste water back into the fresh supply. Problem 1) where do you keep that water until needed. problem 2) RO systems are not "on demand", which means they need a storage tank, some systems use the on board fresh water tank, while smaller ones use much smaller, umder counter ones.
If your still confused, I'll try to point you to some reference material.

RE: Reverse Osmosis (RO) System

mynetdude... suggest you goggle RO to see how the system works. Briefly, incoming water is passed through one or more particle filters and charcoal filters, then that water is forced through the RO membrane(s), which only allows water molecules to pass, all other impurites bypass to the "waste" side.
Now this "waste" water is better than the original incoming, but without storage capabilities, is usually directed to a drain.
The higher the water pressure, the more efficient the system. A booster pump is sometime used to gain that pressure. If you once use RO, you can become spoiled, ice cubes crystal clear, no water spots in shower, etc.
