RE: Help with replacing my Penguin Heat Pump

I have the same issue, replacing a Penguin 630035 unit, combination AC and heat pump. As I understand it, I should be able to replace the "old" 5-button control with the new 12-button control. Would I have to run a new wire for that or can I use the existing wiring to the old thermostat? If I do this replacement, then I should be able to buy the standard Penguin 15K BTU AC/Heat pump, yes? My unit has ducting. Does that make a difference in the unit that I purchase? I talked with a person at Dometic (very unhelpful) and she told me about the conversion kit, but also said that I would need a model 651816CXX1C0. I don't understand why I would need a custom model.
Finally, Dometic list a HP model that seems to be a completely different design. Could I install that model and what would that entail?
Any help appreciated.

RE: Interesting Norcold Refrigerator Question

Richard, I have not checked the voltage output. I should do that, but I don't think that is the problem since I can always tell low voltage by how the microwave performs and sounds. Thanks for your thoughts. I was wondering if the generator output had become "dirtier" and that was impacting the control board on the refrigerator, but . . .

Interesting Norcold Refrigerator Question

I have an "interesting" problem with the Norcold refrigerator on our 03 2630 Monaco Safari Trek. Or it may be a generator issue. The refrigerator seems to work fine. I have been using it on AC with shore power for several months. Now I am traveling and part of the time it is on LP with no problem. I keep it set to automatic and it simply detects whether it has AC or must use LP. So far so good.
However, I noticed that when I stop at rest areas and start up the generator to make lunch or whatever, I heard a clicking sound coming from the refrigerator. On further investigation, I found that it was continually changing from LP to AC to LP, etc. When I forced it to either AC or LP it worked fine. Now, since this seems to only occur when on the generator, it might be something related to the generator. However, all of the other appliances seem to work fine on the generator.
Anyone have any great ideas.
Thanks for any input.
