RE: how old should you go.

I went thru the same questions earlier this year. I had planned to get a newer( but used) DP to replace our 1999 Pace Arrow gasser with 87,000 miles on it. After looking around and being uncertain of the cost of fuel this summer, I decided to keep the Pace Arrow. We haven't had any real problems with it, the tires are good and it runs fine. We like the layout and I'm comfortable driving it and feel it has a few more good years left in it before I might have to do major repairs . I change the oil every 3000 miles, flush the tranny and cooling system every couple of years and the brakes every few years so I know what I got.

RE: Towing

Just put diodes in the Jeep's tail lights and don't mess with having to attach/detach/string wires everytime you set up .
Here's one of many sites that carry kits.

RE: Beware in keys

Not if the bank owned it. I'm not to familiar w/this sort of thing, but doesn't the storage manager have to send some kind of certified letter, to the owner, if disposal is to take place ?? Robbie
I think maybe the Park could have sold the coach to the highest bidder, then you would have lost more then a few hundred dollars. The storage facility owner does not have to do anything other than send a notice to the owner of record. Any mechanic's lien created by filing of an application by the storage facility owner is superior to any bank lien on the property. In short, the storage facility owner can sell the rig and use the proceeds to satisfy the costs of sale and the delinquent storage charges. Any overage, if any, goes to the owner of record. Don't know how they do it in New Hampshire, but that's how they do it in Florida.
This correct--- for now -- notice to be sent certified, return receipt. However, starting July 1 per revision of FS 83.803 in the last legislative session , the notification requirement can be done via email with receipt/delivery acknowledgement or 1st class mail with a certificate of mailing. If overage from sale is not claimed by owner after 2 years it is considered abandoned.

RE: Beware in keys

The storage property owner has the right per Section 83.805-83.806, Florida Statutes, to create and enforce a lien by sale of all personal property by the owner of a storage facility for non-payment of rental, labor or other charges in relation to the personal property.
FL DMV TL-28 is a procedure where the storage property owner can obtain clear title to the vehicle and then could have sold/auctioned it. -- been there, done that
So, it could have been much worse
Now, there are processes that storage owner must go through to notify the delinquent of the past due charges and the intent to sell the property, but it's pretty straight forward.

RE: Pop Rivet vs Screw..Which is stronger in aluminum?

I would think about using Plusnuts
Designed for use in thin metal/plastics and are a very easy install using a bolt, nut and washers -- no need to buy a special tool

If you're referring to that small hole in head casting by that blue/black electrical connection, that's normal, it's the same on ours, not sure why it's there.
Yep-- same on ours

RE: Florida Trip; Campground Suggestions Please

Closest Campground to the race is The Speedway KOA.
Actually there is one a few yards off the track property at turn 4 .. very easy walk to the stands and you don't have to mess with traffic after the race. It's web site is here

RE: Cleaning area prior to applying Eternabond

I cleaned my roof with soap and water and applied the eternabond... it didn't stick. I called them and they said to use acetone on a rag. I did and applied more tape. It's been on there 11 years without issue

RE: Trip from Michigan to Florida Keys

Top Sail may be very cold that time of year. Regarding Blue Water, did you also check with Rita at her website vs the park website ?
Boyd's is OK and a easy bicycle ride into town. Also consider Geiger Key Marina for an RV site.

RE: Autostart for 1999 Onan Marquis 5500 generator ?

I talked to Onan and our local shop and both told me that the EC-30W would not work on my old genset. Does anyone know of another unit that I could adapt to use with my genset ?

Autostart for 1999 Onan Marquis 5500 generator ?

I was thinking about getting an autostart unit for our genset. It's a gas Onan Marquis 5500 in a 1999 coach. ( Don't have the model# info right now as the coach and manual is in storge)
In looking at the online sales doc for the autostart feature, I wasn't able to find it if would fit on this genset. Any thoughts ?

RE: Sea World Florida?

If you plan your day right by determining which shows to go to when, you can get to every show and attraction in a single day. I like SW better than any of the other parks in Orlando

RE: Refrigerator fans

Get one of these:Frig Fan.
Best thing I ever bought for the MH.Looks like a couple of computer fans. I have some of these fans that I salvaged from an old computer. Looks like I found a use for them.
Yes, that's what they are.... you can get them here for $7 instead of the $16 on EBAY

RE: Larry and Penny RV Park

We have stayed at Larry and Penny and found it to be a nice place. If you just want a place to park the TT while you drive down the keys for a couple of days, you might want to consider leaving it at Florida City CG. It's a city run CG 1 block off of US1 and they only charge about $6-$7 a day to leave your trailer there ... we've done it several times. Saves a few $$'s
Nearby is the Everglades Alligator Park.... interesting place to visit.

RE: rv parks in the keys

We spent a couple of nights at the Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge this past February. We really enjoyed the place and thought the prices were quite reasonable concidering we were in the Keys in the middle of their peak season. Including tax, only paid about $64 dollars per night. We didn't have any reservations but only lucked out because someone had to leave that morning due to an emergency back home. Reservations are HIGHLY recommended!
This is also one of our favorite places.... however, no dogs allowed due to the key deer that roam the park incaqse you are traveling with pets. It's at about MM31 or so.

RE: OK this is gonna sound stupid

how long of an air hose? Pressure drop does occur in an air hose. If hose is long and or small diameter I'd bet you don't have the pressure you think at the end of the hose
I think this is incorrect. The volume may decrease, but not the pressure.
I actually does decrease with length of hose. When I used to do custom painting, I had to compensate pressure at the regulator based on hose length plus I had a guage I put on at the end of the hose to check before hooking up the gun . Here's a sample chart of pressure drop
