RE: Do You Think That Heating Pads Are OK???

For my chi's, I use the SnuggleSafe discs. They are frisbee shaped discs of some special type of plastic with a gel inside. You heat them in the microwave for a few minutes and it holds heat for 12 hours. They come with a cover to protect the dog from direct contact. I put it under a blanket, insert dog into crate, cover crate with blanket and the next morning the inside of the crate is still quite cosy. Both of them have the single coat. I have had this for the entire 6 yrs we've had Maggie and are veryhappy with it. No electricity needed except for the few minutes it takes to heat it.

RE: Mission area, Dentists in Mexico ??????

I can't remember the name but on the left side of the street as you go into Progresso, about 2-3 blocks down, there is a dentist whose building front is purple and has a large purple tooth sign in front - several of our friends like her.

RE: Does anyone use the storage under queen sized bed?

In our 5ver I used the space for extra bedding. then one day I decided that I was not going to carry extra bedding any more - if we have guests, I will either know far enough in advance to take some or they can bring their own. Frees up a lot of space!! In the MH, the space is largely taken up with the slide mechanism so I don't use it for storage at all.

RE: Tiffen Phaeton vs Allegro Bus ??

Both are great rigs. You have to decide if the additional "goodies" are worth it to you. There used to not be a lot of difference between the two, but in the last couple of years, there are several really nice things standard in the bus that are not even options on the Phaeton. If we could afford it, we would get the bus because we like the "goodies" but we are not planning to get anything new so we will putter along in our '03 and be happy!

RE: Fleas and Ticks in the RGV

Our dogs are on Revolution and we have never had fleas, ticks - this will be our 8th year in the Valley. Although Sam cat was never outside (except once accidentally) she was on Revolution, too.

RE: Rio Grande Valley in February

Ditto Pawat ! Most all of the parks take short stay guests, the rate is just higher than longer terms. By 1st - 2nd week of March, a lot of the winter Texans have gone home so there are vacancies then.

RE: Dogs Foot Protectors

Yes, the burrs are there - yes, sometimes the dogs pick them up in their feet. But mine always let me know the instant it happens so I can find it and pull it out. I wouldn't say it is an overwhelming problem in our park in Alamo. Perhaps it is other places.

Never heard of that applied to a kitchen tool. It is a golfing term - google gives several examples.

RE: Gonzales' Hamburgers

There is no sign on the building. It has an all glass storefront with the door in the center and, truthfully, it doesn't look like a restaurant at all from the outside. Silver St starts on the east side of the town square. But don't be at all reluctant to go there - in this case, looks are deceiving!! You order at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready. In season, it is very crowded from 11:30 till 1:30-2. They oopen at 11 - close at 3. You may have to share a table. If you are there before the first of Dec, eat one for us!!

RE: Washer-Dryer Combo

I've had a Splendide since we got the coach in 2003. I much prefer doing the smaller loads then putting the clothes away immediately to going thru the laundromat routine and spending an entire morning doing it. Besides, I know what was in the machine last!! Definitely get the vented model.

RE: Bitten by Stray Dog

As a veteran of a few severe dog bites, I say go to the Dr now. Most likely all the bite site will need is a good cleaning and you will get a script for antibiotics. However, if the dog can be caught, they will put it in quarantine to be sure it does not have rabies. If it cannot be caught, you may have to take the rabies treatments just to be on the safe side.

RE: Crime in Rio Grande Valley, Texas

No more there than any where else. There are occasional thefts of bicycles and small stuff. One resident in our park had his truck stolen last year - what we were told was that they were unloading groceries, left the keys in, took a break and bingo! Just use common sense about stuff.

RE: Class A or TT

Also in the stress category - it is much easier to setup/break down a MH than a TT. Altho your budget will severely limit your choices in MH, you just might get a bargain what with the economy, etc. Some friends of ours sold an older well-maintained MH just a couple of weeks ago for near that amount.

RE: Inside wall hole repair

I used the end of a curved srewdriver handle to depress the edes of the holes just a tiny bit, then applied spackling and smoothed it while still damp. I painted over the patch using craft paints - they come in a zillion shades & colors and you can sort of texture them with your brush if needed to blend in. And the paint is about a $1 a bottle. You can get the paint at most Walmarts or craft stores.
