RE: Outdoor Camp Kitchen

Go to Cabelas website and search "camp kitchen" they have two. Friend of ours has the one with the vinyl sink and they use their outside shower for the water supply. That one is about 96 bucks They have at least one other one, and it runs around 127 bucks.

RE: Picture this one in your head

BUT, the dealer told them they could tow it.

RE: Reese safty pin hard to remove

What you might want to try (if your not doing it already), is crank up the tongue some using the tongue jack. This takes some of the weight off the weight distribution bars, pins, etc. Also, telling us what brand/type of weight distribution hitch you have.

RE: Fabric cushion / curtain modifications

Many years ago I remodeled my little Sunline. I wanted to get rid of the brown plaid upholstery and faded beige curtains. Here is what I ended up with: http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc123/SD70M/Kanyon%20Kitty%20Pics/166478738fviguP_ph.jpg I made the cushion covers like large pillow cases, then hand sewed the ends to look like factory ends. The curtains were purchased from JC Penny, and all I had to do to them was shorten them a bit. Really updated the look of my little Sunline. Kitty

RE: Hot Water Heater

"IF" your tank had NO water in it and you turned on the electric heating element, let me tell you it will NOT takes minutes to kill the heating element, 10 - 15 seconds can kill it !!! (Don't ask me how I know this). I had had an Atwood water heater and "thought" I had the bypass vales in the proper positions when I turned the electric heating element on. I suddenly thought about the valve positions and TOO LATE, in I'd say less that 15 seconds the heating element was toast. I removed the heating element and off to Lowes to get a new one. Installed it, and all was well again.

RE: Booth/table

I removed one side of the dinette in one of the Sunlines that I owned. The bottom of the bench was screwed to the floor from inside the bench, so these screws were easy to remove. The side of the bench was screwed to the wall with the screws being inserted from the outside before the siding was ever put on the trailer. So, try to see how the benches are mounted, to plan your "attack". If there are screws thru the wall from the exterior, you can cut them off on the inside, but then you have to cover the cut ends up. I ended up putting bead board up on the wall in the dinette area and it looked great. Sorry, can't post a pic as I lent out about 6 of my rv photo albums (something I swore I'd never do, they have not been returned and I don't remember who I lent them too). FYI, this was just one of my many projects that I did with no "male" assistance, so it's quite do-able if your a little bit handy. Kitty

Sunnys' new home arrived today

Sunny now has a nice new home to help protect him from the elements. It was delivered & installed today, and we got Sunny parked just before it got dark. We plan to let my son keep his boat in the other half. Oh, yeah, there is NOTHING flat or level in West Virginia so we had to make a flat spot. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc123/SD70M/Sunny%20Pit/DSCF5890.jpg

RE: Going from F250 to F350 - would you?

Just sold my '97 F-350 CC, LB, SRW as we also have a '99 F-350 CC, LB, DRW. Since we got the dually we did not want to use the '97 to tow our 35' 5th wheel. The difference in the stability/ride is amazing. If the dually is home and I need to run errands, not a problem, I even take it thru the bank drive-thru. Not a big deal, if the mirrors fit, the hips will fit.

RE: Help Deciding... (updated to 3 choices)

I like the Laredo better because it has the sink "away" from the sofa. Think it's stupid to have sofa so close to an area that is prone to splashing of liquids. Also, I like the sliding doors for the master bedroom, not folding doors or curtains. U shaped dinette would be nice with that many folks in the rig.

RE: buying a fifth wheel should be like buying a car

See that most of the time when I look at rigs on a stealers lot. The few times I have traded in one of my Sunlines, they did NOT need to be cleaned for the new owner. And, I always left the original paperwork in the rig. What do these people do with the paperwork/manuals ??? I just don't understand how people "ABUSE" their rigs so much. I shudder to see what their home must look like. I actually think we pamper our rig more than we do the house. Can't wait til tomorrow 26' X 40' RV Port being installed, so yet another way to pamper the rig. Kitty

RE: Electric water heater element??

IF you even turned the electric element on for 6 - 8 seconds and had NO water in the tank, then you fried your electric element. You can get a new element at a place like Lowes. IF heater not working on propane, first are you sure you even have water entering the tank? It's best to purge the air out of the gas lines before you attempt to light the heater. You can do this by lighting the burners on your cooktop for a minute or two. You should be able to hear the "burner" kick on to heat the water.

RE: Opinions on this combo

You'd be better off instead of "guessing" what your weights will be just go to a set of scales. First, load your truck like it would normally be loaded for a camping trip, including ALL passengers, pets, coolers, full fuel, etc. Now head to a set of scales. Whatever your truck weighs needs to be subtracted from the GVWR and that balance is what you have left available for tongue weight. Your post reads like your proposed trailer could have a over 1,000 lbs of tongue weight. Get your weights and do the math, but I think you might be pushing your truck a bit, but thats just me. I'm sure some of the guys will be along to hep you figure this all out. Kitty

RE: Anyone else visit humane societies as they travel?

I don't visit shelters when we travel, as I don't need to even think about "saving" another dog. I work/volunteer with a Greyhound rescue group (temporarily not working due to chemo treatments) , and that good deed got me a 2nd greyhound (that I had NOT planned on), plus I now have moms ornery dapple weiner dog, so I don't need any further temptations. It's feels good to do work for these groups, and the animals enjoy the attention. Hopefully I will be able to get back to the hounds by september or maybe sooner. Kitty

RE: Round Kitchen Sinks

I like to "window shop" and see whats new in the RV World. Sometimes I get ideas for modifications I could make to our 5th wheel. BUT, I can tell you one mod/upgrade (?) I won't have is those stupid shallow round sinks. Plus there seems to be a trend of only having one (1) sink, what's up with that? I have nice deep double sinks in my '03 Sunline and can't imagine trying to get by with one of those silly shallow single bowl setups. I wash in the left hand sink, and rinse/drain 'til dry in the right hand sink. So not a lot of wasted water. Kitty

RE: Good Sam Roadside Assistance

Have had & used Good Sam for years. It was very important to me as a solo traveler. I shudder to think what this tow job would have cost me: http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc123/SD70M/Kanyon%20Kitty%20Pics/2775668110044476533fBNsZp_fs.jpg I have also used them for less "serious" issues and not had any problems, but you have to understand that they have to locate someone that CAN help you with you situation, and yea, it might take a few hours, but the first thing they have ever asked me was "Are you in a safe location? " They use independent service providers that have agreed to come to your rescue and be paid by ERS. So, being patient is necessary, especially if you are out in the boonies. Kitty

We have purchased & installed one of those. Still hope we never have to use it.

RE: The dreaded job is done

I went in the 5th wheel to check out the mod I'm going to do to install a fireplace/heater in the lower portion of the corner TV/storage cabinet. Have the fireplace (got a great price on it--FREE) and it was brand new. Just need to get some oak trim before I start taking the circular & jigsaw to the oak 1 X 6 that will create the new opening.

RE: From Hagerstown, MD west; I-68 vs Penn turnpike

Have driven I-68 many times over the last 14 years. Most of my trips were with a 72 passenger school bus loaded with students and their clothing, band instruments or sports equipment, never had a problem. Have also traveled it with my travel trailer, and now with the 5th wheel. Did the PA Turnpike not long ago, and I'd take I-68 anyday. Kitty
