RE: Riding Mountain NP Manitoba ... will we fit?

Googling up Diann.
It looks like Wasagaming Cg fits your needs. There's a pic on this page http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/mb/riding/activ/activ2/activ2_i.aspx with hybrid camper opened out and toad that looks close to your size. They say full services available.
Reservations are online via national parks link www.pccamping.ca and a phone #. Two #s actually, one for calling from outside either CA or US.
Give us a full report. This is one I've heard interesting things about. {{{{{poke your camera inside the teensy wooded sites for me and my TC sized places}}}}, eh?

RE: Crossing into Canada and saving the Vegetables

Remember to check the stickies at the top of this section.
Pet food can be confiscated. But it's not always a priority.
US regulations say must be made in the USA. Choke!!!!
Of course, right now there is a pet food recall on re. Diamond products all made in the USA. Just as it was with the last pet food recall. Thus, as I say, choke.
Bird flu is another reason why pet food sometimes becomes a priority.
Best idea is to get your dogs on a type of food you can buy on either side of the border. Purina and Iams are two of these. Or you can check by calling the grocery stores on both sides of the border where you plan to cross.
& keep your pet food in the original store bought container.

RE: Nova Scotia in July

I like provincial parks because they have more trees and look less like parking lots. If you do too, you might want to check these out.
5 Islands PP has a combination as in a nice area. So too is the PP near Fortress Louisbourg, the most must see for all of all NS.
For all the views and hiking in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, the federal cgs were so crowded when I was last there, that I call them beyond the beyond. Use private ones in that area.
& go up to Meat Cove.
Pity you're going to miss Stanfest 2012 (concert series in memory of Stan Rogers), but there will be other concerts out and about

RE: Crossing into Canada and saving the Vegetables

Correction to the above post.
In the Sticky in this section under rules and regulations for entering Canada : http://forums.woodalls.com/Index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/23961340.cfm is a link to a site which covers what is necessary to bring a long barreled gun into this country. You have forms to fill out and only sign in presence of CBSA border guards and pay a fee.

RE: Can't post pics from Photobucket anymore.

I am a member of PB
With North Americans I cannot see posts of pics from PB for about 80% of these posters.
For me it is a matter of connectivity of the posters*, more than for me.
For Aussies, I can see at least 80% of those PB hosted pics posted.
The late RVSnowbird, also a moderator here, had posted at least more than once that there are a number of us with problems with PB out and around.
Thus, I ask have you changed your connectivity recently.
:C
* I shall add that last year a gal I know took a trip to AK. As she travelled and stopped to visit folks, she posted pics from her PB account. I could see them when posted from some places and not from others.

RE: Crossing into Canada and saving the Vegetables

Road Life is a wise soul.
So, is Ranger Jay. Nice roadside stands with fresh, really fresh goodies on both sides of the border.
The problem with fresh is that they can pick up all kinds of stuff. Every so often, charming insects arrive in grocery store, supposedly well inspected imports - you know the black widow spider, etc.
& of course, route veggies carry soil no matter how well washed.
But every place has its super tasty eateries, posh or casual.

RE: Arrrrrrrrrrrrg! Count down is over!

Diann, your outlook re. trees is shared by inuit.
I remember being told "I hate trees, they just get in the way".
To which I replied: "I love trees. Each one is different. They provide shade. They make a cooler space amongst them. They save water and keep rain from rolling away. .....
Have more fun than you did in 2008.
BTW do you get many geese up there? I find there are quite a few staying in my neighborhood.
& I hear that breeding pairs of eagles are getting quite competitive for feeding territory. Let us know if you see more of these in your travels than in times past.

RE: Canadians travelling in U.S. & Canada - Internet Question

Remember wifi. Of course, you have to travel to where there are wifi sites.
Re. phone links, Rogers and Bell are two of the more costly.
Maritimes land line is Aliant. There is also Eastlink.

RE: DISAPEARING THREAD: Pet food recall

The regulation is there. The confiscation could happen at any time.
But it happens most often when where is the possibility of problems. Examples, are recalls like this one or bird flu in birds.
In the latter case, think of the protein in the pet food. Poultry is rather common and there is nothing on a pet food label that spells out specifically where the protein comes from.
Keeping original packing is important in times like these.
I learned a long time ago to have my dogs on a food that can be bought in either country.

Threads disapearing in rv.net

This one: http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/26026953.cfm
Route of access: via link from Pet Stop Moderator dturn when he closed another thread on the same topic.
I posted a reply, yet I still I cannot see the thread title in either Woodalls or rv.net listings on Pet Stop.
So, I've started yet another thread. http://forums.woodalls.com/Index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/26030753/p/1.cfm
As said before, on each thread this is a border crossing issue. & Border Guards going both ways can confiscate pet food.
- The problem brand is Diamond
- Some brands are carried in stores on both sides of the border and are safe. Two of these are Purina and Iams. So, carry very little pet food and buy after border crossing.
Hope you can help on this Pulsar.

DISAPEARING THREAD: Pet food recall

Dturn closed another thread because of a running thread.
SORRY, I cannot see it in either Woodalls or rv.net portals. Even after I posted a reply http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/26026953.cfm
I will post this technical problem in Forum Technical Support also.
But my point is if you're crossing the border today and the next few days, there are likely to be problems going both ways.
If you check that you have your pets on a safe kind and can get it on both sides of the border take very little and buy after you cross over. Purina and Iams are two brands I know can be bought on either side of the border.

RE: ANOTHER recall from Diamond~It's now time to contact FDA

I am open in Woodall's Portal.
This thread does NOT SHOW UP on Woodalls portal. I will post and see what happens.
My point is with a pet food recall like this people crossing the border need an alert that it is likely that their pet food will be confiscated.

RE: is it just me?

The beauty of forums like these is that very similar questions do get asked again and again and again.
& get updated and refreshed. & nobody is stuck with having to search to find an answer for not quite what he/she wanted to know which is from 6 months ago, a year ago........
I've been at forums like that, where there were those who knew, but didn't want to have to answer more than once. Wicked to deal with that attitude, especially if said place has a hard to learn search engine.
This way is open to change over time, one wee change at a time, one adjustment for how each of us wants our rig...............

RE: Sold on cast iron cooking

I'm going 48 years for myself.
A Wagner (thus before Wagner-Ware) #8, thus 10" frying pan with matching lid is my most used utensil. Ok, Wagner, Wagner-Ware, Findlay, Smart, Javelin, Martin.
Let's see about 10 flat bottomed stove top pots from 10" to 12" for baked beans, apple butter, chili......
Over 20 Dutch (Camp) Ovens for outside. Hmmmm. Camp Chef, Lodge, Griswold/Wagner Ware from after W-W bought G...., Martin, Balto, Furphy, Harding, .......
Spiders.....
Only two roasting pans, Wagner, & McClary
Sizzle serves
Griddles.
Or black babies to love and enjoy. Cast iron is :B :B :B

RE: RV.NET is dead...

I'm sure the Company will just love me for this.
& maybe it's not good luck to say this, but I use Firefox, which has AdBloc Plus for an add on.
I don't see ads and I don't seem to have the problems so many of you are talking about.
Of course, I also go in through Woodalls or one of the even smaller, less traffiqued portals, which don't have that weirdo mixed format of some stuff entered on the horizontal and others on the vertical the way rv.net does.
Just a thought.
