Taking the TC to the limit is fun. You still went further than most. Thanks for posting.

RE: Trip report: First trip of the year - North Wales

Your truck and camper looks good with the new tires and freshly cleaned TC. That looked like a good time of year to go when the sheep out number the people. Thanks for posting.

RE: Trip Report: Gila Lower Box

Great trip report. Thank you for posting. I'll bet it was fun, that country looks like fun to explore. I wish I had more time to explore and hike down to the river. I have seen photos of pictographs along the canyon walls.

RE: Trip Report: Gila Lower Box

I bet that was some nice solitude. Thanks, Yes it was. Not another vehicle was seen or heard off the paved road.

Trip Report: Gila Lower Box

Headed out to southwestern New Mexico to the Gila Lower Box. It is located north of Lordsburg NM. Traveled I-10 to Lordsburg and turned north on US 70. In a few miles turn on State 464 and go 13-14 miles and turn left on Fuller (small street sign) a graded dirt road. From this road there will be three or four roads in a 8 mile stretch that turn north. Only found one road with a sign that lets you know you are in the right place, and it was small. Camped at the last road overlooking the Gila River. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/001-3.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/006-1.jpg Enjoyed the sunset from this location. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/008-2.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/007-2.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/009-2.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/010-1.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/012-2.jpg The dog was taking in all the new smells. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/011-1.jpg Some large formations of cacti. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/013-2.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/016-1.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/015-1.jpg Next morning after breakfast went down the road that is a little over three miles from State 464. After driving down this for a while and not sure this was the one, it comes to a fork, stay to the right. This takes you to an arroyo that you have to cross many times. When you think you made a big mistake about going down this,,,a sign http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/018-2.jpg this must be it. Looks like a nice place to camp. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/021-1.jpg The Gila River was flowing strong. To bad no time to fish it looks good. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/038-1.jpg Lunch was next to the river taking in the sounds of the birds with 72 degree temps. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/028-2.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/044-1.jpg This is what you see when reaching the river. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/054-1.jpg The road in and out can be a challenge. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/053.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/058-1.jpg My dog says go. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/057-1.jpg This is a little tight. One more good rain and this road is closed for a while. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/059.jpg Leaving the arroyo. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/061.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/063-1.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/068-1.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/069.jpg This is the way it is out here. My dog says "you can make it". http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/071.jpg Heading back, the views from State 464. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/076.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/078.jpg Not a bad trip doing it in 24 hours. Great place to go in the desert and see for miles. This is very close to Arizona for you guys out there. Well it was fun, back to the zoo.

RE: Should I try to mount the camper brackets myself?

Ask a RV shop what they would charge. They have all the tools to get it done and could cost you less than the tools you would have to buy. I would guess a charge of $50 to $100 to install.

RE: 2011 Ford 6.2 gasser engine (questions)

Fuel is about the same. Has 34,000 miles on it. Changed the oil, filters and one rear turn/brake light bulb. Yea, I am that guy here in my area that uses turn signals. Manual 4WD works great and so does the electric locking rear end. The 4.30 rear end gears and 6 speed tranny are a great match.

Nice report Whazoo! You really need to drink some of that flask medicine to cure that skin problem.

RE: Ducted Heat to Cabover

Hmmm, took my overcab duct for granted till now. Would a 12v car fan push heated air into the cabover if mounted on the cieling? I started using one last summer, it has a 12v plug and will ossilated. Cheap at CW. I use a fan like that on the table to push the heated air into the cabover. Good thing I did't find a ceiling fan laying around.

RE: Ducted Heat to Cabover

More duct tape is required to be a Red Green Special. :):B If it works that is the main thing. Ran out of duct tape but still had baling wire;).

Ducted Heat to Cabover

I found a way to get heated air to the cabover. Got a new clothes dryer and did'nt need the exhaust ducting. I looked at the duct and thought, hmmmm maybe. It looks like the Russian space station but it works. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/002-1.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/004-1.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/007-1.jpg I used light wire to twist tie to the hanging points. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/MathoD1/003-1.jpg It can be put up and taken down quickly and compacted down to about 15" for storage. Tried it out one night with the temp at 23F. Heated the TC more evenly with less run time between cycles and the cabover was nice and toasty. Looks wild but it works.
