Lance Camper nose.

Hello everyone...
Lance Camper's aparently has taken a page from Eagle Cap Campers.
Lance Cal. - 2013 Campers are going to have a one piece fiberglass nose like Eagle Cap has done for years.
Mike Tassinari
P/S - My post of a couple of months ago is also aparenty true. You will shortly be seeing new floor plans in the Lance Max series. Specifically the side entry - dry bath - double slide - rear couch floor plan. Leave it to Lance to be different though - Aparently in the couch area - there is no floor to ceiling closit like's its Competor.

RE: Hauling scooter in front of TC

Hello Everyone.
I am carrying 2 Honda metropolitan scooters on my 2001 Ford F350 Dually. One in the front and one in the rear. I believe they weigh in at 175 to 180 pounds a peace.
I purchased the following equipment and it has worked just awsome.
http://www.versahaul.com/products.php?gclid=CMWFjpGanK8CFWkQNAodZBNKbw
For the front I installed the VH-55 RO
For the rear I installed the VH-55 and the optional light kit with license plate light. VH-TK LP
I also purchased the Heavy Duty Anti-tilt Bracket on both the front and rear. VH-070HD
The biggest issue I had was on my 2001 Ford the front hitch is above the bumper thus making the scooter partially blocking my view. I solved that problem by purchasing a 10" drop down bracket/hitch and all I need to remove is the 2 mirrors.
The rear hitch is by Torklift. It is the super-hitch with the 48" extension. To that I attach the 24" versa hauler receiver and am good to go.
Lastly the question about your engine over heating. 5 years ago fell off a roof and landed 12 feet on a concrete deck at work. I trashed my left ankle big time to the point I could only walk 50 or so feet with/out tons of pain. I have had a 150 pound electric mobile scooter on the front on my truck all this time with out an issue of my Power Stroke radiator temperature budging at all. I had total ankle replacement surgery in January of 2011 and am a new guy. I have swapped out the electric mobile scooter for the Honda Metropolitan scooter. Also I have a cover over both scooters and no over heating issues.
Mike Tassinari
P/S - I am typing this from Jenson Beach Florida where the day time temps have been in the mid 80 ties and low 90 ties. Absolutely no overheating issues.

I will be mostly in Florida along the east coast with a stop in Fort Wilderness(WDW) for 10 days and will make my way north to the Mid-Alantic Truck Camping Rally.

RE: North-East Truck Camping Jamboree - May 17,18,19,20 2012

Hello Everyone..
Hi John & Cathy,,
Would you kindly call or Email the Campground to reserve a spot and if you are participating in the Saturday Lobstaaaa Dinner drop Mikeeeee an E-mail with how many Lobsters you want.
Do you know that that 2nd Jamboree in North Conway NH. in our 1st Year is the reason we are doing multible Jamboree's per year!
My original intention was to do a single Jamboree per year - meet some fantastic people - share some ideas - have a wounderfull meal and all head home Sunday morning with the hope I had done enought to want you to come back the next year..
Well We had our 1st Jamboree in May of 2006 and a funnie thing happened. Dick Carpenter who goes on here by Trapper Dick posted on RV.Net in August that he had so much fun why could'nt we do a fall Jamboree.I responded to Trappers posting to "go for it" and annoited him "WagonMaster" for the event.
Trapper found the Campground in North Conway that would take groups and in aprox. 6 weeks We put a calendar of events - got the word out and I believe 26 Campers showed up. That is our Humble beginnings.
I look forward to meeting both of you.

RE: Largest truck camper built?

Hello everyone...
Jason4598 has come up with what I remembered.
Mikeeee blew it completely when I posted it was an Eagle Cap.
It was in fact an Okanagan 126tks triple slide
Below is the link to the specifications. Just scroll to the bottom.
http://www.okanaganrv.com/Camper%20Floorplan%20Page/camper.htm#OK_126TKS
The Box length was an unheard of 13' 2".I don't think there were any Truck Campers in production at that time that had broke 12ft!
The fresh water was 63 gallons
The Black & Gray was 45 gallons each
Weight is posted at 4664 pounds
Below is pictures of the Beast
http://www.okanaganrv.com/Virtual%20Tours%20Clearcom/2008/okrv-126tks/gallery.htm#Options
Im not sure what year Camping Manufactures started putting a weight sticker on our T/Cs that reflected the actual weights with whatever options we choce to have the Factory install,
Sooooo
If the posted weight was a base weight sticker without your added options you are looking at a 5000 pound plus Camper.
Now add your "Stuff" like food - clothing - grills - tools and you could easily come close to 6000 pounds..
Good hunting Jason4594

RE: Largest truck camper built?

Hello Everyone.
I am very disappointed in all my fellow Campers.
Doesn't anyone remember the monster Eagle Capp Camper that was being made just before they went into chapter 7 bankrupcy. This T/C was so huge that it needed an F550 to carry it. I want to say the box was in the 12&1/2 to 13 ft range.
I have done severl searches including Truck Camping Magazine where I thought I had read about that particular Camper but have not been able to find the information.
Come on fellow T/Cs. Help me out here.

RE: TEST RESULTS: 12Vdc Water Heating As Diversion Load

Hello Everyone.
For what its worth in plain ol Dollars and Cents. What you are going to have to shell out for your custom 150 watt Heating element, Buys a whole lot of propane. I currently pay $4.00 per gallon of propane, that translate into 24 bucks for a 30 pounder.
I have up/graded my independant second Alternator on my 7.3 powerstroke to a 225 amp H.O Alternator. That more that privides me with the needed 12volt d/c out put to fire up my 400 watt Hot Rod.
Also keep in mind that for every single amp of 120 volts a/c - you need to produce 10 amps of 12voth d/c power. Yup there is a formula out there if one wanted to be accutate, but I am not to far off.
Now if one were to go "High Teck " in the water heating Department, I would definately recoment a Garrad Tankless unit.
http://greenrvproducts.com/girard-tankless-rv-water-heater/
Many R/V manufactures are switching over to these units

RE: Best TC service center in NC?

Hello Everyone...
To GratefulOne,
You can do no wrong in calling Mike Olesnevich who owns Xtreme Campers in High Point, North Carolina.Mike sells Lances and 4 Wheel Campers but is an extremely tallented fabricator.Mike also does filon repairs as well, and is a Torklift Dealer and installer too.
Mike just moved his entire operation into a larger building that can hold between 25 and 30 campers.he is still in High Point N.C It is that huge of a building.
He currently has my 2001 Lance 1121 for a full re-calking job(roof and side walls) replacement of the slide/out room gaskit(the room has to be physically removed) and replacement of the lower skirts.
To say Mike is fussie about his work is to say - I am willing to drive almost 800 miles from Easterm Ma. to his facility one way. Need I say any more.

RE: Dual Alternators

Hello Everyone.
To Ticki2,,
I thought that was my answer also. Just split the charging wire off the second alternator and you are good to go. Not SO.
I went to 2 Ford dealerships and asked that very question. Both told me that that was impossible to do due to the Trucks Computer and how it senses the battery's.I seem to remember there would be an issue with twin exciter circuits as well. This was 9 yeas ago and I did not write everything down
I then asked my Mechanic is we could go into the Computer and change the setting from twin alternators to a single one - Nope it cannot be done because Ford will not give out the computer card - nor could he purchase one for him to get into the computer.
Back to the Ford garage and ask what it would cost to go in to the computer and change the alternator setting. In early 2003 Ford wanted a minimum 2 hours labor and because it was a specialized request- they would not guarantee it would even work . And it could void my brand new Truck warranty.
For whats its worth - I looked up my slip and paid a salvage yard in California $300.00 for the whole set/up.
Second Alternator - second idler pully - longer serpintine belt - longer upper radiator hose - all the mounting brackets and all the bolts and nuts

RE: Need Camper purchase advice

Hello Everyone.
Hi Rvrepairnu,,,
May I ask how you determined you safely carry a 9ft T/C on your Truck.Unless I missed it,I do not see what you have for a truck.
You have to go to a commercial scale - weight your truck and subtract that weight from the GVW.
Plus - now add the following to your Truck Weight
Weight of 2 persons: say total of 400 pounds
Weight of food/clothing/tools and what ever: say 600 pounds
You now have a better understanding of what your Truck can safely carry. Only the Owner or Operator can decide just how far he/she want to be in the over weight department.
I am sitting down here in Key West Florida and can count 6 fifth wheels with tandem axils being towed by 1500 chevys or F150s. I actually went up to one and asked how does the 5ver handle and their first responce is the hitch weight is only 1000 pounds or so.
Salespersons are in the business to sell campers of any kind. All I want to do is make you aware there are limits to what one can do with any level of truck.
Lastly remember that no matter what options you put on your truck to make it handle better, It in no way allows you go legally go over the posted GVW weight posted on your door frame.
