RE: Should I Winterize

old saying, better to be safe than sorry. I agree, blow out the lines. No need to use RV antifreeze. FYI, never get that stuff into your icemaker tray, it will ruin the non-stick coating. To completely clear the ice maker lines, apply air pressure to the system and let the ice maker run through a couple of cycles. When all the water is gone it will stop making ice.

RE: Man Versus Mice

The good old spring traps that have been around 100 years are still around because they work. They were improved by increasing the size of the "paddle" where the bait is attached. Remember, DON'T FEED THE MICE, BAIT THEM! Many make the mistake of attaching too much bait. Just the slightest smear of peanut butter works fine and increases the kill to sprung trap ratio dramatically. A product that I thought would not work has worked wonders in my RV Garage/barn. This is a 36 x 50 pole barn with a poured concrete floor and is surrounded by woods and meadows. The sliding doors leave access underneath for mice to get in. Before using it to store my bus I trapped mice and kept track of the numbers. I then started using a product called "Critter Out" and reduced the number of mice by over 95%. I have no interest in nor do I represent this company. Just mentioning it because they make a product that works. Spraying this product (smells like lemon) around the perimeter both inside and out worked unbelievably well. Click Here for Critter Out

RE: Battery charger and front a/c don't work on shore power

Now I notice that the plug-end on the MH is also burned. That hasn't been changed out yet. How could the plugs burn and not blow a breaker or fuse? Loose or dirty connections cause arcing which will burn the contact points of the plug and outlet. When this arcing does not exceed the amperage rating, the breaker will not trip.

RE: Windshield sun shade

I have a set of the windshield and front/side covers from this company. Also have a set of 6 "No-see-um" wheel/tire covers. After much use both shades and tire covers are still like new. Quality products.

RE: Wanderlodge Auction

How do you hear about or find these auctions? These events are usually advertised on line. Various owners groups also got the word out. The best part of this auction was the fact that Parliment Coach of Clearwater, FL purchased all of the intelectual property and files, parts and supplier information, etc. Is a Prevost shell with a conversion by Wanderlodge in the future? We will have to wait and see.

RE: Levelers Curiosity - Do You use Auto or Manual?

If you use manual leveling and you ARE actually level...with no wheels off the ground...then the automatic method should do exactly the same or else it isnt working properly. Level..is Level..period. Yea, but Sully, isn't it better to be "more than level"? :h :B

RE: Bluebird Wanderlodges, worth the money?

also "an 04 is a standard BMC bus chassis"-- not so Really? Bluebird started putting their motorhomes on the BMC (Bluebird Motor Coach) BUS chassis in 1994. These were high speed long haul buses. This is/was a high quality unit, but similar to appearance and performance to most other bus conversion motorhomes. They had nothing in common (chassis and appearance wise) to the "classic" Bluebirds. Prior to that, the FC and PT series Wanderlodges were on Bluebird School bus chassis. These are the old classic Bluebird Wanderlodges. ref: http://www.vintagebirds.com/index.html The above helps with some of the misinformation and confusion here. To expand on that see below. First, the M380 does not share the same chassis that other late 80's, 90's and early 2000's Blue Bird Wanderlodges have. The M380 has a unique chassis and the others share a similar chassis to the Blue Bird Luxury Touring Coach (LTC) which is an over the road touring bus. The BMC was a model built by Blue Bird that had a chassis not made by Blue Bird (Freightliner, I believe). This was an attempt to build an entry level coach. They are also a good coach but not built like a Wanderlodge. Up until the later 1980's Wanderlodge shared a chassis with the large school buses.

RE: Q's about a Blue Bird Wonder Lodge

There really are many differences in models and years. As a newcomer, you should go to the http://www.vintagebirds.com/ website and click on the "History" tab. On this site you will also find a checklist to show you what to look for when purchasing an older Wanderlodge. After that there are several excellent Wanderlodge owners forums where you can get help from knowledgeable owners. One was mentioned above. The most informative, in my opinion, is http://www.wanderlodge.us. Good luck in your search.

RE: Electrical question

My guess is the ground wire in the arm rest is not making good contact since two switches in the same are are malfunctioning. Pull the arm rest apart and using a tester, see if you are getting a good ground. Another way would be to simply pull the switch, ground it using a test wire and see if it works, but the tester method is preferred. If it is a ground wire, you can either trace it back to wherever it's attached and reattach it or add a separate wire and ground it....good luck, let us know what you find.....Dennis Yep, it is usually a ground but, in this case, since the problem is with multiple items all stemming from the armrest, I'd check the connector plug that runs to the seat.

RE: Adding rear direc tv box in bedroom

Do you already have a coax cable to the location in the bedroom where you want the receiver? If so I would think it goes to a central controller or point at which you can connect it to the existing cable provided you have a dual LNB. I would think you can make it work without running additional cables, let along run cable on top of the roof. There's always a better way than a hack job of screwing with your roof. How about under neath or through the basement? Find someone who actually knows what there doing. Most here DON"T I've installed five KVH domes in MH's. How many have you installed. Go up on some roofs to see how the manufacturers install them. We have owned Tiffin, Country Coach, Monaco coaches, ten in all. How can you make a comment about "Most here DON"T". Have you done a survey? Bruce Bruce, don't take it personally, he doesn't mean you. Don is absolutely correct though about using the existing cable along with two diplexers. I'm, sure that you know, with the satellite experience you have that this can be done as follows: Disconnect the existing coax from the rear TV. Install a diplexer on that end. Connect one of the outputs to the satellite receiver and the other to the TV RF input. Connect the output of the satellite receiver to the audio and video inputs on the TV. You can also connect to the same RF input you just used via a splitter. At the front, disconnect the coax from the switch-box and connect it to the second diplexer. Use one output to connect to the switch-box where you disconnected the coax. Run a coax from the other connection on the diplexer to the satellite dish. Remember, although diplexers look like TV splitters, they are not. Splitters will not allow the voltage present between the satellite dish and receiver to pass and diplexers will. Use good quality components available at electronics stores.

RE: Need help.My KVH,L2 in-motion stopped working.

Had a similiar problem. The shop I took it to said the system needs a steady 12volt power. Not one that varies. Mine kept reverting to the Dish satellite instead of the Dirctv. He said KVH is recommending a separate 110volt to 5 amp 12volt transformer to power the KVH system. We installed it and since have not had a problem I installed a power supply as stated above and have not had a problem since.

RE: Satellite tv, Direct V DISH

I should have emphasized that "new" receivers leased from DirecTV don't have the low speed port. Your link goes to a site that explains that D10-100 receivers are "rare" and no longer made. My sense was the the original poster wanted to know if it was easy to buy a coach that was a few years old and be able to plug in any Dish or DirecTV receiver. My view is that having to find a discontinued model receiver would decrease the easiness level. Bill Thanks Bill, your observations are correct. I currently have Dish Net. and I didn't know if my system would work on a Direct TV dome with a few modifications or should I expect to start over with a compatible antenna and dome for my system. While DirecTv receivers with a low speed data port are no longer made they are available from quite a few sources. My point of the link was that for $169.00 you can keep from upgrading the dome at a cost of a thousand or two. Changes are coming to dome antennae for HD etc. I thought the option of not "upgrading" to a "new" dome that will be obsolete soon may be an option.

RE: Satellite tv, Direct V DISH

>>> When my KVH and DirecTV were new in 2003 it worked perfectly. I canceled the service and when I restarted it two years later the new DirecTV receiver didn't have a "low speed data port" that the KVH needed to identify the correct satellite. I ended up with a major upgrade and it works perfectly again. You don't need to replace/upgrade the dome. Satellite receivers with low speed data ports are still available. RE: Norcold Icemaker

Draining the water line plus the varying taste of the ice cubes while travelling is why my ice maker sits unused. I buy a bag of ice that has no strange tastes. I have been very tempted to try to get a cabinet door to cover up the spot of the U-Line ice maker but so far have just left it there. Not to hijack the thread here but bad tasting ice cubes are easy to eliminate; a good, in-line filter will make them just as good as the bag cubes. To winterize or store, pressurize the water system with air and let the machine make cubes until it stops. Also, to save a good filter for future use, (in case you installed a new cartridge just before winterizing time) take it out and store it in the home freezer until spring. To the OP, if you don't have a separate shut-off for the ice maker, install one and shut it off 12-24 hours or so before leaving for home. The water in the lines should be used up enough so the tray won't refill.

I have a Florida "SunPass" will that work in the easypass lanes? My Easy-Pass will NOT work in Florida so I imagine the opposite is also true.

RE: help with HWH jack

Looking for advise on how you handle a leveling jack repair/ replace. My HWH are direct acting piston type with touch pad control. My rear left jack will not retract and must be pried up. I did the damage myself at home being careless. I called HWH and they said you can order a new jack or send the old jack back for repair and they will repair. There is a 4-6 week back log. Just wondering what procedure is the best way. Order new and can you send the old jacket for the core charge. Help is appreciated. Rich Rich, I had one that needed rebuilding, bought a new one and sent the old back for a core credit. That way I only had to get under there once. No problems since the swap. Check to see if they have any rebuilts in stock for the size you need.

RE: air bags wont release to let unit down

I am not familiar with the Sportscoach but many air suspension systems are controlled by air solenoids for each axle. Many of these have an "air pilot" that is to say, the solenoid does not open or close the main dump valve. It opens a small valve that allows air pressure to work the main valve. If they used this type of air-pilot valve you need air pressure to operate it. If the air in the auxiliary reservoir is depleted you need to build up air before the valves work. If you do, indeed, have a separate valve for each axle, the problem is in the control circuit for BOTH valves and would be either electrical or as mentioned above. Remember that these are "failsafe" valves that need power to dump. An interruption of electric (either hot or ground) will leave them in the "up" position.
