RE: Drilling Chrome Bumper

.....If you have a good 1/2 drill motor then you might find a 2 inch metal bit. It will not be cheap tho. A place where I volunteer just had a need for a 2" bit.... $274 for one bit to drill 6 holes thru 3/4" plate. And we had to rent a magnetic mount drill with a 3/4" chuck. They do make hole saws for metal...

RE: Welcome! And DIY Questions!

Probably held in place with screws with a #2 square drive head (versus a phillips or slot head). You can get this special head drive at just about any hardware store. Then you could use either a drill/driver or just a hand-held driver (think screwdriver) to remove the screws. Step one complete.

RE: San Diego- Barstow- Vegas

Definitely I-15 all the way. 215 has you changing from 215 to 60W to 91E, all are constantly under construction. Plus, there's a Bass Pro Shop off of 15 in Rancho Cucamonga! Second the idea of not travelling on a Friday.

RE: What are these wires?

I'll ask a question back.... What are the 2 cover plates for above the wires? Anything to do with TV or stereo? Are the wires hot? 12volts or 110volts? Any switches control them? what is the cabinet for?

RE: Installing New Batteries

turn off everything you can find. Make the negative connection on the battery last, then turn stuff on.

RE: Tow vehicle- do you use GPS or just a compas and a map ?

Used to teach navigation in Search and Rescue. GPS's are great until they lose a signal, or the batteries die. As with anything else, they're just a tool, and you need to know how to use them. Another thing we'd do is spread a map on the hood of a car/truck and show the students how a compass would deviate when brought onto the hood, then taken away. The same can be seen on a picnic table in a campground. Vehicle mounted GPS has definitely come a long way from the Garmin 12XL that I became proficient with.

RE: How do I drain fresh water tank

"Some" (well, my toyhauler anyway) come with a dump valve similar to a holding tank valve in the piping coming out of the tank. Or, you could run it thru the faucets. Any hose clamp connections coming out of the tank that you could loosen? If you don't have a dump valve, once it's empty would be a GREAT time to install one. Edited to add: Here's a link for the owners manual for you coach.... See pages 20 and 21.

RE: Ford spitting out Spark Plugs

had a 2000 F-150 4x4 w/ 5.4L engine (140K miles) that spit out a plug. Shop installed a heli-coil, I drove it to a dealer and bought a new truck. Lost confidence in the 2000, so it went bye-bye.

RE: Why is the tongue weight so much more on toyhaulers?

....Or can I offset that tongue weight with putting stuff in the back of the TH? Yep. Plus "normally", the fresh water, grey water, and black water tanks are all forward of the axles, so "stuff" can be put inside in the back.

RE: Sand Mat For Bottom Of Stairs?

We use a plastic pallet that was damaged on one side and discarded from a trucking company. Sand and dirt fall right thru it.

RE: Need help finding hangers

Probably custom made at the trailer frame factory. Any shop that can make a trailer frame can whip them out in a few seconds..... Pacific Coachworks in Perris, CA. makes Rage'n trailers... might try them?

RE: Sedona AZ

We were there a few years ago, and took 89A because of construction on 179 just south of Sedona... wasn't that bad as I remember it. If you've got the cash to spare, do the helicopter tour... definitely a bucket list type adventure!

RE: camper electrical cord storage question

The BEST way would be to shorten the existing cord, putting the appropriate connectors on the cut ends. I've found the "female" ends for my 30amp cord at Lowes, but had to go to a RV store for the "male" end. I store the long "external" cord in a plastic crate. Check out this website for further information on how to hook up the wires.

RE: Safe Alert propane gas detector

I had one going off and on.... I guess something in the MRE heater made the detector think it was propane. Yeah - hydrogen!

RE: Any vegans here?

Thanks for the recipe...I will just leave the chicken part out. Or make it and pick out the veggies:B I've been on allrecipes but that is some hard work and I've found some but...hoping for more recipes. Thanksssssssss. Donna OOps... missed the chicken in the assembly portion of the recipe. It was originally an all vegetables recipe from my mom in Tennessee - I added the chicken and cayenne.

RE: Safe Alert propane gas detector

Detectors (of any flavor - propane, CO, smoke) are relatively cheap. When in doubt, replace it. What year is your rig? Is the detector original equipment?
