RE: Potluck winners needed please

Roasted Raspberry Chipotle sauce (Culinary Circle makes one, Costco has another brand...) Packaged meatballs or "Little Smokies" (or both) all in a crockpot. Heat until hot, serve until gone.

RE: Rt. 58 from Bakersfield to Barstow CA

Watch speed entering Mojave. It must be a training center for CHP, because they'll get 'ya for any little thing.

RE: You can be warm at the fire in the fall - get this

When boondocking in the desert, we just use a shovel, grab a shovelful of coals, and deposit under a chair. First breeze that comes up in the morning "redistributes" the ashes that are left over.

RE: are hybrid trailers cold in winter?

Yes they get cold, unless you can afford to run the heater enough to heat a tent. Even with "pop up gizmos", and foam pads under the matresses, we'd get cold at about 30 or so. Had to fight to see who the dog would sleep with!

RE: Jacks down during winter storage?

I have never seen Stainless Steel Hydraulic Rams Rust, even in the Salt air environment at a Mexican Beach! No, but the first time it's retracted after several months of crud accumulating on the cylinder, the cylinder, rod, and/or wiper seal is just about sure to be destroyed.

RE: Do you Adjust your WDH When You Drive With a Full Water Tank

Depends on the trip. If we're headed for the desert with all the toys, and full of water, then I'll set it up one way. If to the mountains (no toys, no water), I'll load a bunch of "stuff" forward of the axles to balance the trailer, and change the number of links on the WDH.

RE: coffee pot parts

JB-Weld? Seriously - that stuff fixes anything. Can be sanded, cut, painted, and is heat-proof (at least for what you're doing....)

RE: Ugh....Swaying?

What is the tongue weight like? Having too much will raise the front of your TV (even with WDH), removing a lot of traction from the front steering wheels, and possibly causing your sway issues.

RE: How do they do it?

A fiberglass shell will weigh a lot more than an aluminum shell. Once the shell weighs less, you can could go with fewer frame members, lighter axles, then use thin plywood versus real wood for things....

RE: Deciding on sleep bags. Help plz.

Get the one with the draft tube. then get a good foam pad. Inflatable pads are nice and cushy, but invariably spring a leak overnight. The simple 1/2" thick blue pads are relatively cheap, and don't leak. I've slept on/in snow with a 40F bag and a foam pad, and was very comfy. Car camping - don't fret about the temp rating on the bag - you can always layer on more clothes in the bag.
