RE: New TT, CO2 detector keeps going off?

1. It's "CO", not "CO2".
2. Carbon Monoxide (CO)detectors are notorious for being set off by the off-gassing of new materials in new RV's. Mattresses, furniture, paneling, etc.... That "new car smell" is the gas they are sensing.
3. CO detectors are inexpensive. Replace it for peace of mind.

RE: How do tent people pack?

Take a good hard look at what you bring. Do you REALLY need changes of clothes for EVERY day, or can you do laundry? Can you buy some of the food at the destination, or as required during the stay? Toys? Sporting goods that will only be used "maybe"?

RE: what signs for bearing failure

I had grease on 3 of my 4 drums. The HOT hub was the only one braking. But the other three where cooler. Do not jump to conclusions. Investigate.
There you go.... temperature RELATIVE to the others. One was different than the others, and sure enough, something was wrong.

RE: Dumb Question re: outlets

120 volt outlets (like in your house) only work when you have an outside source of power, either a generator, or your "shore power" cord is plugged into an outlet in the campground, or at your house.
To have your outlets work when on batteries, you'll need an INVERTER (changes 12 volts DC to 120 volts AC). These devices will EAT battery life, and will only provide power to their rating - a 1000 watt inverter will only provide 1000 watts (think hair dryer), not provide enough power to turn on the microwave, AC, toaster, and the hair dryer.

RE: what signs for bearing failure

Hot hubs are one thing, but a hot hub RELATIVE to the others is a sure sign somethings gone south.
One of these make it easy to check, and it's only about $20 from Harbor Freight:

RE: Electric trailer jack blowing fuses

I'll second the issue of reversing the jack direction too quickly. I've had that happen on two different model jacks on different trailers.Third to have that happen.
Yep.
I painted a stripe on the jack shaft about 3" before the up stop. That way, when I see the stripe, I stop before hitting the stop.

RE: plastic leveling blocks - What Do You Think?

get some rubber sheeting of the appropriate size to put under the bottom block for use on concrete, get a piece of 3/4" plywood for under the bottom block for use on sand.

RE: Poor GPS Reception in a "C"

Put the antenna on top of the roof. Glue a steel plate on the roof if the antenna is magnetic.
GPS signals will get degraded under a TREE, not to mention under aluminum/steel structure.

RE: No 12V to Trailer - UPDATE

Had a fuse get corroded, and would intermittently lose 12vdc. Cleaned the blades on the fuse and made it thru the weekend, then changed the fuse and the fixture afterwards.

RE: Do LED RV Bulbs really save battery life?

In addition to changing out the 12v bulbs to LED, we also got a couple of these for the dark corners, closets, and cabinets.

RE: who can tell me how to smoke two whole chickens

Is there not enough height to use the grill slots? I'm using a Masterbuilt now and thought I could do that with shorter hooks.
I think if you left the top grate in and used something like the old style metal shower curtain clips, it would work fine.
Just be careful they're not galvanized metal.... :(

RE: Air pressure...what's the correct amount?

Door jamb stickers are fine if the tires are stock. His profile lists a 2000 year truck, so tires probably have been changed at least once. Possibly with a higher Load Range tire....
I go with what's stamped on the sidewall of the tire. For the stock Continentals that came on MY truck, that's 80psi, and 60 on the trailer.
FWIW.....
