RE: GS ESP looks for loopholes and doesn't pay

I have yet to hear of an extended service plan, or extended warranty that actually paid for itself. Nothing but pure profit for dealers.

RE: Salton Sea

Parents had a lot/home in Bombay Beach in the 60's/70's. Most of the town is still there. Google it and you'll see some of the pictures. The big tourist infrastructure is pretty much gone (marinas, waterfront restaurants, etc. Couple of dive bars, and a market. If you decide on a tour around the "sea", do it counter-clockwise (north on 111, south on 86). The USBP checkpoint on NB 86 can get you into LONG waits, with people coming back from the desert. There is a checkpoint on NB 111, but there's hardly anyone waiting there.

RE: Loud clicking from rear wheels at low speed

Might have someone walk alongside as you drive slowly and listen for where the noise is most pronounced. Noise sometimes travels from where it originates at. Might even be in the brakes or driveshaft. JMO As in something WRAPPED AROUND the driveshaft....

RE: Good Stuff on Sale at Harbor Fright

....Things like roll around stools...two of the wheels snapped off with normal sitting in under a month of use. The bolts look like something even the Chinese would reject. I must've gotten the next one off the assembly line - wheels snapped right off. Replaced all 5 with some decent wheels (the wheels total cost more than the stool on sale!), and now it's my favorite piece of furniture in the garage!

RE: dumping water off awning

I always leave one side of the awning a little lower than the other so poo(l)ing is never an issue.X 2 Yep.

RE: Ok to run a generator at night if no one is around?

In the SoCal desert (Glamis, Ocotillo Wells, Gordon's Well, etc) thousands of people gather each weekend to run their onboard generators and have campfires and play with gasoline engine powered sand toys. Never heard of ANYONE suffering from CO poisoning. Camped in many "wagon circles" with upwards of 30 rigs, with a fire in the middle, with no ill effects. I say run it.

re: refrigeration of Lantus.... per the website it can be left at room temperature for up to 28 days.... so if you get it, and the cold packs are thawed, no big deal. (unless you're in Yuma for the summer!)

RE: Propane leak

....I read that this is a large pain to find the leak.... Not really.... turn the gas on, and start spraying EVERY CONNECTION with a soapy water solution. When you find the bubbles, you've found the leak. I'm willing to be it's the regulator between the two tanks. They're notorious for failing.

RE: Sirius/XM radio questions

We've got a portable unit that (a) receives the sat signal, then (b) rebroadcasts it to an FM frequency. Leave the portable in the truck, and dial the stereo in the trailer to the correct frequency, and VIOLA... Margaritaville in the desert!

RE: is the convertor supposed to charge the batteries?

A CONVERTER changes 120volts to 12volts (charges batteries) An INVERTER changes 12volts to 120volts (and really drains batteries)

Watch speed entering Mojave. It must be a training center for CHP, because they'll get 'ya for any little thing.

RE: You can be warm at the fire in the fall - get this

When boondocking in the desert, we just use a shovel, grab a shovelful of coals, and deposit under a chair. First breeze that comes up in the morning "redistributes" the ashes that are left over.
