RE: Directv wiring question

Schneid--> This assumes a secondary receiver on the BR. The original poster as well as on my description there is only 1 receiver on the front connected to the satellite and Coax to the TVs.

RE: Amp Hours for AC appliances - Can you help clear this up?

Responding to the OP.
24Watts @120VAC = 0.2Amps
If you want to use your inverter being fed by a 12VDC to produce the same amount of Watts, then you will need 10 times more Amps or 2Amps.
For every Amp consumed using 120VAC you will need 10 times more when using 12VDC.
So if you have a battery that is rated at 100ah and assuming you will use it to 50% discharge then you can use your TV on for 25 hours straight (50ah/2Amp=25hs).
I hope it helps.

RE: Directv wiring question

Unfortunately, you can't use Coax to bring HD from the Receiver/DVR to the bedroom. The only way you can have HD is via HDMI out of the receiver. There is a new HDMI switch available so that you can hook up the receiver to the Switch and then from the switch to the several TVs. However, you will have to have new HDMI runs made to all TVs.
In my case, I have the receiver connected directly to my front TV via HDMI in HD. Then I have component to Coax going to the existing switch that distributes my signal in SD. In the bedroom and the signal to the outside are only in SD.

RE: Acutrac II plus step by step instructions

I strongly suggest you read the manual that I post the link to on my first post. You will need to understand some variations of the procedures. Have you already bought the Directv dish? Depending on the dish (Slimline 5, Slimline 3 or SWIM) the procedure will vary slightly.

RE: Acutrac II plus step by step instructions

Please see my post above. I love my Accutrac III+. With the DirecTV settings it makes life very simple. I use it in conjunction with the Align a Site device as we are always under trees in the West Coast. Once you select a site were the Sat dish can "see" the Eastern Sky, make sure the Tripod is plumb before starting anything. It is very easy and I am normally up and running with my Slimline 5 in less than 10 minutes. I also agree with the post immediately above. If you starting without any equipment, I would also go with the TV4RV. IN my case, I already had mostly everything.
Please send me a private message if you need any additional help.

RE: Acutrac II plus step by step instructions

Always start with the top SAT. Mine is Directv and the SAT is 101. I am not sure on Dish. However, you should have a main SAT.
Do a manual rough pointing on the Azimuth and then on the elevation. Fine tune to reach maximum signal on the Azimuth and then again on elevation. Tilt to the the required angle and now maximize the signal to the SAT that uses the Ka band.
You should be on solid 95%+ on all SATs.
Just a note: Accutrac III+ come preset for Directv. You will need to change for Dish SATs
Here is a link to the Manual: Accutrac III+ Manual.

RE: ? DirecTV HR24 DVR receiver hookup

Yes you do as long as you aim to 101 that is the only Sat your dish will receive.
I stand corrected. You will need to use a Sat find meter with the sound as the HR-24 will not produce any sound. I was automatically thinking on the meter when I responded.

RE: ? DirecTV HR24 DVR receiver hookup

You also have to run the Setup on the receiver in order to change the Satellite. Probably you either have a SWM or a 3/5 LNB at the house. You will need to change the type of SAT to round 18", single LNB.

RE: winegard traveler

You can go both ways in order to be safe. We have space. Therefore, we also have a portable Slimline 5 LNB. Whenever trees cover our roof, we are able to set up the portable that keeps all the same settings of the 5 LNB Traveller that we have on the roof. Aiming the Portable HD Slimline is a bit more difficult than the normal SD 18" oval dish. However, you have HD and it is priceless!!! My suggestion is to go to www.tv4rv.com and check their tools. We also have a semi professional satellite aiming device that makes the task a 5 minutes one.

I am very happy with ours. Works all the time. No dew problems and locks to DTV without any issues, rain, snow or sun. Ours is the 5 Sat version.

RE: Mid California RV.net SAL Rally Oct. 7th & 8th 2011

Hello Everyone!!!!
Thank you so much for all the Happy Anniversary. We turned 34, married and on the way to 42 together. Time really flies. We had a wonderful time on the North Coast close to Westport (about 17 miles North of Ft. Bragg). The campground is on the beach and very nicely done. It is a KOA. We basically chilled for 10 days and enjoyed nature.
To make you guys laugh, please check what jumped at Rose and I while we were walking on the beach. Boy we definitely can run faster than this guy on his belly.

This weekend we are going to Costanoa with Judy and Ray. It is amazing the summer is almost gone and we have not been together in an outing for quite a while.
I promise I will show up here a bit more often.
