RE: Would new shocks help me?

New shocks may help a little, but the real problem is your E rated tires, especially if you have them at max psi. When I'm not towing, I air mine down to 50psi front and 40psi rear (I'm still within pressure specs) which makes a huge difference.

RE: help needed on first purchase

Thank you, have read all these and written the models down, please keep the info coming, I can learn more here in one hour than searching everywhere. The reason I must have a rear kitchen is because my wife says so, and I will tow with a 250Ford with power stroke diesel. Smart guy!! If Mamma ain't happy........no ones happy huh? Seriously, we had a rear kitchen 5th wheel and had some problems but cushions in the cupboards helped a lot, and a lot say shock absorbers help a lot, ours had shocks. Center kitchens IMHO are better because they don't bounce up and down anywhere near as much as rear ones.

RE: GM vs. the weight police on fiver pin weight limit

On the doorpost of my old '06 2500HD Chev extended cab 4WD D/A said the CCC was 2500 and some odd lbs, that included passengers full fuel and cargo in the truck. With a 5th wheel hitch spray on bed liner and aluminum toolbox with "stuff, about 150 lbs", me and DW (we are average size) left an 1800 lb pin weight capacity in be within the trucks specs. BP stable..... And yes, with my 2011 SRW truck I'm within all weight capacity's. Since 2011 GM's 3500HD have an 11500 lb GVWR, well up from the earlier 9900 lb pre 2011's.

RE: What shocks for RAM 3500 DRW?

When I had a dually, 2 years ago I put on Munroe Reflex and found them to be much better than the stock shocks. They are identical to a Rancho model shock (Monroe own Rancho) and are made for trucks and towing. Some reviews don't say they are very good, but that's subjective, I would buy them again.

RE: Let's Talk MPG and Gas Price$.

Where is the electricity to charge these batteries going to come from? Another thing, who really knows North America's oil reserves? One day you hear about huge untapped oilfields, the next about so little left. I wonder if there's any truth to the rumor North America is waiting for the Eastern oil producers to run out of oil before turning its taps on to supply the worlds needs? Yes I know other countries have oil reserves, but the Eastern ones have the vast majority.

RE: 1996 Okanagan 36' fifth wheel

Okanagen have always had a very good reputation for build quality, but they are a very heavy trailer compared to most others, probably due to being built so well.

RE: LMM DPF Delete sensors and codes

Go to Diesel Place for more info than you need for a Duramax. Many very knowledgeable people there.

RE: Garmin nuvi 465LMT

I had one until it was stolen out of my truck, I admit my fault, forgot to lock the truck in my own driveway, and was happy with it, but replaced it with the dezl, and so far like it very much, especially the actual pics of off ramps and other selective modes. I did consider the RM but at the time (Nov '11) still seemed buggy to me. I still haven't done a truck/rv comparison yet. Having said that, any GPS is just so rarely off, that they are not 100% reliable.

RE: More RVers becoming victims to crime

Stay out of Canada unless you want to be murdered & have your motorhome burned. LINK If you want to be safe subscribe to cable & sit on the couch & watch the national Geographic Channel for your travel thrills. Not my idea of living. What a ridiculous thing to say. What this tells me is that Canada is just as dangerous as Mexico?.......care to share your comparison stats? Yes anywhere can be dangerous, but I'd much rather be in a place with a much lower chance of being robbed/mugged or worse, especially with DW with me.

RE: Tire Pressure Question

Towing I use the doorpost inflation guide, 60 front 80 rear as I'm fairly close to, but not over GVWR, not towing it's 50 front and 40 rear, a much better ride and still within weight guides.

RE: Nitrogen in tires

IMHO helpful in high flying aircraft and race cars, otherwise a waste of time and money if you have to fill a low tire considering air is close to 80% nitrogen.

RE: Need help with route to Alaska

Once in Western Alberta (if you go that way) I highly recommend The Icefields Parkway Between Banff and Jasper, one of the most scenic drives in the world. You get to walk or ride a modified bus on a real glacier at the interpretive centre. Do not refuel at Saskatchewan River Crossing! Once in Jasper you have the choice of going East on Hwy 16, aka The Yellowhead, to Hwy 43 and North through Grande Prairie to Dawson Creek, or West on Hwy 16 to Prince George to Hwy 97 North to Dawson Creek.

I'm pulling over 15000 lbs and have the factory controller set at 8.5, and works much better than my old Prodigy.

RE: real world pin weights

The real world pin weight on my 5th wheel is 2850lbs. That includes a combo washer dryer in the very front, 4 6V deep cycle batteries in the front genny compartment and a 150 watt solar system, and a fair amount of "stuff" in the basement, and about 1/3 tank fresh water, tank is in the rear, all other tanks empty. The advertised pin weight from the factory is 2045lbs. The ONLY way to determine real world weights is to weigh your rig empty and compare that weight to being fully loaded for a trip. On a side note, some 5th wheels, especially those with 3 slides on one side, and one on the other, will weight up to 1000lbs more on the multi slide side and some RV'ers have replaced the springs on that side with heavier capacity ones.

RE: 1982 six pac and a 1998 chev 1/2 ton p/u ???

Some pre 1988 campers won't fit in the box of the new Chev/GM pickup for then body style starting I believe 1988 due to the rear of the box being narrower than the older style trucks.
