Whetstone Gulf State Park NY

Looking for info from someone that's been there. Site recommendations, etc. Thanks!

RE: Bar Harbor Maine

I always stay at Blackwoods CG, part of the national park. No hookups but if you're self contained they do have a dumpstation. Only kind of camping I enjoy. You can walk over to the shore from the campground. It's quiet and wooded. It also won't break the bank.

RE: Sunset Point, Maine

I'm booked at the cg in Harrington. Didn't realize there was another one with the same name.

RE: Sunset Point, Maine

Thanks for the input. Hopefully by mid July the blackfly season will be over! I've visited the Winter Harbor, Birch Harbor area the last 20 years or so, staying at Ocean Wood, which sadly has closed. It was the perfect place for me. This place is a little further north but it looks very promising as I like a quiet place without a lot of kids around and I don't need activities, playgrounds, etc. Just camping. Love Maine, hoping they can keep the wind turbines from ruining the area.

RE: No Knead Bread?

Peasant Bread 2 cups flour 1 cup water, divided 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. yeast 1 1/2 tsp. sugar Mix yeast, sugar and 1/2 cup warm water and let proof (gets foamy in about 10 min. ) Add with the rest of the water to flour and salt. Mix well with wooden spoon. This makes a sticky dough. Let rise in bowl until doubled, about 1 hr. Stir down, place in a round casserole pan or loaf pan, 1 1/2 qt. size. Let rise again, about 45 min. Bake at 350 about 45 min. or until golden. Very tasty day 1, great toast day 2. Easy to do when camping, I always bake some up. Smells great!

Sunset Point, Maine

Has anyone stayed at this campground? It is waterfront, which sounds great, and only has about 30 sites, which sounds quiet. Just wondering what I can expect when I get there in July.
