RE: Maxxis trailer tires

Current "D" tires have a 65psi rating, just because a tire is rated for that pressure doesnt mean you have to run it at max. I was always under the impression that max pressure was for max weight rating......snip
I always ran my Maxxis LR "C" TT tires at maximum cold pressure do in part that the TT specifications stated to do so (I believe many RV manufactures state this with ST tires), and didn't have any problems with them after 7 years of service before upgrading to an LR "E" tire. I also felt that at maximum cold pressure the sidewall would be stiffer and handle turns better.
In the case of a another tire manufacture, Carlisle states the following for ST their tires:
"Carlisle Tire & Wheel only recommends and only warrants tires maintained @ the max air pressure while in service." They went on to state that "Maximum load range is attained when the tire is at it's maximum air pressure. There is no advantage to taking air out of the tire. With maximum pressure, the tire will preform and wear better, and you will get better gas mileage. Reduce the psi, and you compromise the functionality of the tire. This is the position we take on this."

RE: What's the difference between the E2 Trunion & Round Bar?

IMO they are aesthetically different but there is not any significant structural advantages to either system.....snip
May not be a structural advantage, but the ball mount that comes with a trunnion WDH has a wider range of tilt that can be a benefit when adjusting the WDH. Also, the trunnion style WDH has higher rated spring bars available.

John,
As time passes, it will be interesting to see feedback on how the Anderson performs with TT ball couplers welded to the bottom of the A-frame with tongue weights north of 1,200lbs.

RE: MaxxAir Roof Vent Covers

I purchased the MaxxAir II. If I get a chance to pull the cover off soon I'll snap a picture for you.
I installed the Standard MaxxAir vent covers, because I had an issue with a stink pipe interfering with one vent location with the larger MaxxAir II style covers.

Any chance of posting a pic of the roof vent area in question? Also, what model MaxxAir cover did you purchase?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Hendersonville, NC rv park?

snip...... We are planning on looking in e Brevard area too. Anyone familiar with it and how it would e to live in? Thanks. Steve
Steve,
My parents lived a couple miles outside of Brevard in Connestee Falls, and loved the Brevard area. Brevard has a nice downtown area, lots of outdoor recreation in the area, and heading in any direction from Brevard there are plenty of places to experience and enjoy. The Brevard College also provides a lot of liberal arts activities for the area as well.
As mentioned there are CG's around the area, and I do recall a CG located between Hendersonville and Brevard (off route 64, on a small lake), but don't recall the name.

RE: Towing 7000# fifth wheel with a chevy 1/2 ton

snip..... It would be very EASY to exceed the capabilities of your truck regarding payload capacity and that's a safety issue as opposed to Max tow rating which effects only your warranty.
How can exceeding one's "MAX tow rating" not be a safety issue :h

snip.....However I do think the criticism of Jayco's initial response to the OPs inquiry is reasonable.....snip
Cruz-in,
I also agree.., based on the OP's photos and his inspection results of other Jayco models.
It sounds like the OP is attempting to get Jayco to re-consider their initial response to the problem.

RE: Lack of clearance on Reese Dual Cam

Ken,
Sounds like you need a fresh set-up/adjustment, and/or fine tuning...., and keep in mind even a minor adjustment at the WDH/DC may impact the weight distribution between the TV & TT.
In some cases where the TT ball coupler is welded to the top of the A-frame in conjunction with a wide TT frame interferences can be an issue, but in most cases there are solutions.
To give you a detailed walk through in adjusting the Reese HP Dual Cam (and interference solutions), please refer to the the lower portion of this Towing forum sticky for some guidance: Reese HP Dual Cam Install/Adjustment
If the information in the 'sticky' falls short of addressing your problem, please post back. Also, if you have a pic of your new TV/TT combination hitched-up, that would be helpful to.

RE: More LED lights (long post with lots of pictures)

Bill,
Thanks for the feedback...., and looks like their reply didn't give a time frame when the upgrade took place, unless when he said "we have since" it implied since LAdams installed his back in '09'.
I plan to go to the RV Show in Novi on Sunday......, just to look!

Did Kraig state when they made the upgrade addressing the RF issue? I installed my Command Electronics LED's last year, and satisfied thus far (haven't noticed any RF issues).

RE: Junk under rubber roof membrane Update

snip...... I just received a call back from Jayco warranty that SHOCKED me. The guy said that this is normal and that Jayco would likely do NOTHING about it..... snip
Steve,
I assume that by "Jayco Warranty" you are referring to Jayco directly, not the RV dealership. I would take your FW to your RV dealership and get a formal Warranty Claim Request generated w/pics (as the Jayco Representative suggested), and language stating that the EPDM roofing material has been compromised (assuming that's the case). One would want to believe that Jayco would address the problem under these conditions.
I know that in some cases a small air pocket or smooth roof sheathing irregularities can create a cosmetic issue with the EPDM roofing material, but without causing any long term integrity issues (not saying this is your condition).
The Jayco Representative stated to you that Jayco would "likely do NOTHING" and "most likely not do anything", implies to me that this is not a closed matter.
Just food for thought.

RE: Tongue weight and weight dist bars

Rich,
The Rockwood 2304S (2011/2012 models) have a GVWR of 6,594lbs, and is approximately 24ft long. Based on a fully loaded condition at the TT's GVWR, the recommended "loaded" tongue weight range would be 659lbs to 989lbs (10% to 15%). Based on this weight range, and your "actual" loaded tongue weight of 880lbs, I agree, a WDH with a spring bar rating of 1,000lbs would be ideal.

RE: WD Hitch

snip..... The chain type are not as good with sway.... snip
If your referring to a standard stand-alone WDH with a chain snap-up bracket, your correct because a standard WDH is for weight distribution, not specifically for sway control.
But......, when one incorporates the Reese HP Dual Cam kit to a standard WDH with a chain snap-up bracket, you now have integrated sway control providing the same level of sway control as an Equal-i-zer WDH product.

RE: How do you handle WD with varying TV bed loads?

IMO the only way to know what the impact of adding the ATV has on all the TV weight limits (axles, GVWR, etc.) and the WDH adjustment is a visit to a CAT scale..., that's what I would do.

RE: Weight Distribution Towing System

Sway bars are all the same. Manufacturers ALL recommend removing them when backing.....snip
Unless I'm overlooking something, I believe the OP is referring to his Reese Pro-Series WDH "spring bars", not a sway control bar(s). It sounds like the OP mistakenly referred to the WDH "spring bars" as "sway bars" in his original post......,
....unless he has two friction control sway bars (yet to be confirmed) mounted with his WDH.
