RE: Driving US93 to Glacier, NP

Loved the drive this last summer on the way to Alaska. Very scenic and road is big enough for your rig. Be sure to stop in Columbia Falls at the Huckleberry Patch restaurant for some Huckleberry pie alamode.

RE: Rear kitchens-good or bad??

The only problem we've had was on our Alaska trip last year. We realized at our first lunch stop that we needed to secure the stuff in the refer. Besides that, not really any problems once you get used to packing your stuff correctly for a rear kitchen. I also had to replace a couple of pantry shelves and their supports. The shelves were too thin and broke with average weight on them.
Sometimes I think I would like a rear picture window, but I'm satisfied with what I have.

RE: Microwave door stuck

Mine is almost new and it does the same thing. I found that when I want to open it, I just push in and release on the bottom right corner of the door (where one of the latches is) and depress the open button. Works almost every time. I think I'll opt to get mine swapped out under warranty.
Good luck

RE: Reading Lamp Amps Test-LED/Incand/CF Results UPDATE

mena661, I have a question for you. I have the standard incandescent 12v bulbs in my high ceiling lights and am considering putting in some LEDs to brighten things up. If I change out the 1141's or 1156's to the directional LED replacements, will that give me pretty bright lighting? It seems so dim now with the standard bulbs. If not, what would you recommend?
Thanks

RE: Tip of the day

I use a click stop torque wrench I bought at Harbor Freight. Normally $32.95, on sale now for $9.95. I just bought my second one. I've had the 1st one for three years now and it works great. I just wanted to have one in the garage and one in the truck. I torque my lug nuts/bolts to 95-105 ft. lbs. Depends on if it's my 5th wheel or my boat trailer. I threw away my beam type torque wrench in the Goodwill box.
See ya'll down the road.

RE: Diesel fuel in Alaska

We spent July, August and Some of September in Alaska and Canada. Diesel in Anchorage and Fairbanks was the cheapest, around $4.25/gal. Other areas it was as much as $5.00. In Canada and the Yukon, I averaged about $5.50 a gallon with our highest at Pink Mountain of $7.40/gal! Once you go north of Banf NP, the prices rise steadily in small amounts at first. Who know what it will be like next year? I've been there, done that, and I probably couldn't afford to do it again. I'll continue to fly up to fish though.
See ya down the road.

RE: Skagway this weekend, no reservations?

We stayed at Pullen Creek also in the paved lot facing the cruise ship docks. Never had any diesel smoke or smell. Didn't see any place near town to boondock. Sad to say that Scagway itself was a huge disappointment. Train ride was OK, but the poor people on the cruise ships had to suffer through all of the cruise ships jewelry and gift shops in town. Totally a cruise ship tourist trap!

RE: Rig size going to Alaska

The only issue we had this year was going off the beaten track to explore along the way up and back. Many of the places we would have liked to go to wasn't practical dragging our 5th wheel. Would have been excellent in a truck camper or maybe a class B though.

RE: XM radio on Alaska trip?

We spent a couple months in Canada and Alaska this summer. We have Sirus radio in our truck and had reception until we got up around Watson Lake. From then on, it was not operable.
Had to rely on CDs and a MP3 player until we were near a large enough city that had a radio station.
