RE: Grand Canyon North Rim

When we go to the north rim, we boondock on the road headed into the park. There are "hundreds" of sites just off the main road that will accommodate and size RV and are very easy to access.

RE: Information Discussion for Gate Guards

Texan,
I thought you were with GGS and quite happy with them. Have I missed something? BTW, Idaho is gorgeous this time of year:DI am and we are, but it's all about $$$$$$ up to a point, especially if you brave a summer here.....:B.. There have been several companies that have contacted us and we will NOT consider them, but the ones with a stellar reputation, are worth a look at least.

RE: Gas Wars

National news is reporting that no $5 gas prices in site. They need to look at the west coast. Will probably see over $5 by Monday.
WA/OR gas pricesTalked to a Valero exec from the refinery here yesterday. He says they fully expect $5/gallon before the end of the year and probably by the end of summer. I guess the news is trying to help one person.....NOT the people.

RE: Information Discussion for Gate Guards

I will not be able to reply to this post as I have no internet. I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and help. I have found short term employment with Site Watch. I have someone checking out other possibilities, too. I really like this little community. BTW Missy will be back 2nd week of June!
Welcome to the crew! Awesome place to work!Cole said to give him a call, when we were ready to close this gate and he would have a gate for us. We are still considering the offer. The other company we plan on contacting is C & K Rentals in Cuero, which has a very good reputation among their employees.

RE: CoachNet

Thank you for the update Linda. I think they handled it in a way that makes the customer happy and hopefully will keep it from happening again.
Just a side note, this was taken from another forum yesterday and shows the kind of company Coach net strives to be. Dave was very pleased with his experience through Coach Net.
About 6 weeks ago 2 weeks after we got back from FL we where driving our toad on a Freeway on our way to an appointment
driving 65 and out of the clear blue we hit black ice. and totaled our toad. After the car quit spinning I can to rest on the shoulder of the road with the front of the car protruding into the right lane. OnStar called the Police and they were there in a matter of minutes. He had a Flat Bead truck on the way. They were there in about a minute. I did not have time to call Coach Net and the Police were anxious to get me and my car off the road because of the hazard and other cars that need attention there also, so I gave permission
to the tow company to pick up the car and take it to the local dealer.
Coach Net as others clearly spell out you must call them and use one of their providers. When I got home I called Coach Net and explained the information. She told me I could write a letter to their review board. I did and sent in a copy of the bill. I ask for any help they might offer. Yesterday I got check in he mail from them.them for the full amount. Thought that was great. I hope I never need them again but it is nice to know you can count on them.

RE: electrical problem

The ONLY common item between the generator and the shore power is the transfer switch, which on ours is located in the rear drivers side compartment where the electrical cable is. Make sure ALL power is removed from the coach and open the transfer switch box. You will probably find either a loose wire, which is common or a burnt relay. I open ours yearly and tighten the wires at the terminal block, as they will loosen over time from vibration.

RE: 2004 Monaco Knight radiator

Mark, go to the Monacoer forum and ask this question. There are over 3500 Monaco coach owners on the forum and they know where to get things at a reasonable price. This question was just discussed there in the last week, and the OP found one for under $1000 by asking on the forum.

RE: Gas Wars

The New Braunfels HEB has matched their price, also. We have had a gas war going on in Beeville for the past month between 3 stations, but it has not spread to any of our local stations..:M..Still $3.69 here

RE: Hunting

The OP I imagine, was because of Marcus pulling advertising off a TV show, because the host family hunted "legal" game in Africa.
Yes we use ours for hunting, when we are home in the fall. Hunting and fishing is a big part of our lives.

RE: Information Discussion for Gate Guards

Betsy talked to GGS today and they are in need of gate guards to cover existing gates. Today, they are down at least one gate and by June, with the known departures, they are going to be hurting. If anyone wants a guaranteed job, now is the time to arrive and get your feet wet, but be prepared for the Texas summer. I have talked to several that normally return in Oct/Nov and they are coming back early this year, just to make sure they have a job for the winter. Everyone we talk to are very concerned about the economy this fall and their financial well being.

Here is a LINK to this same question, from 5 days ago. You better do some "serious" checking before you get hung out to dry.

RE: Mail

Unless USPS has made a change in the past 9 months, that is a "weekly" charge, not monthly. We talked to our postmaster about using their service and with the weekly charge and the must provide "one" address when signing up for the service and NO address changes while in effect......NO thanks.
We use the FMCA mail forwarding service and it has worked excellent for the last 9 months. You can receive mail as often and anywhere you desire, with a simple email.

RE: Ugly Encounter at Campground

Just because my car is a rental doesn't entitle you to hop in and drive it.
apples and orangesOnly in your mind...When you sign a rental agreement, which you do in a CG, it is for your exclusive use period. Now I realize many, evidently including you, think everything anyone owns or rents belongs to the public, so I understand your confusion on contract law.
I think you may be confused. Your not signing a rental agreement when you get a campsite.Evidently you never read the fine print on the "contract" you sign in most campgrounds. I am setting here reading one and it very clearly states you are "renting IAW state laws", the designated site, for the period specified.

RE: electric awning pitch adjustment - reaching the arm?

What make and model of electric awning do you have? On our Carefree Eclipse, you adjust it once for where you normally want it and leave it in that position. It will retract with that pitch set.

RE: HONDA GENERATORS

We have a Yamaha 2800 as a spare and emergency for the house and are very pleased with it. If it were me, I would go for the Yamaha 2400 and yes, it will run one AC very easy.

RE: Ugly Encounter at Campground

I have been camping for many years and my inlaws (now deceased)tent camped for many more years before that and it has always been an unwritten rule that you do not cut through another campers site. This is just pure courtesy just as I would not cut through someones yard at their home. People are just plain lazy and rude and we should try to get back to the times when people respected others property and privacy. JMHO.Best written post here.....and yes, as a renter, you have "exclusive rights" to the parcel you rent.

RE: Double pull in Baja?

Rocmoc, I have searched and can't find the definition of a 'server tow bar'. Is that one that simply slides into the receiver rather than attaching to a ball? That would be an easy fix except my braking system for the toad is what slides into the receiver and has the ball on it.The actual definition AZ uses, IIRC, is the term, "pinned draw bar". That is why the tow bar that is fixed and pinned into the receiver, fits the definition.

RE: Beware in keys

What occurred was vehicle theft. Call or go to the sheriff and file charges.ROTFLMAO......You are naive about the workings of Monroe County sheriffs office and the political scene in the Keys....He was an "outsider" and the RV Park is a local business, and believe me, the "outsider" looses every time in Monroe County, even if he is in the right, which he was NOT....:B

RE: Beware in keys

My only question is who do you think would have won the auction for the rig on "Storage Wars"?
Vehicles cannot be auctioned.Depends on the state. In Florida, they auction them all the time, for storage fees.
