RE: "I BELIEVE"...................

I believe my Phillies will win the world series !! :B Oh.. while I am not in my fifth wheel :(
I believe the Ford truck guy is unhappy seeing the Yankees will be in the world series. I furthermore believe I was in my 5th wheel when the Yankees clinched the pennant and will be in the trailer again when the world series is being played next week. I believe the Yankees will win it. I believe I've said enough...

RE: Golfcarts...?

.....Now, folks say they don't 'police' that situation well, but I'm here to tell you, they do! Teenager wasn't driving that cart more than 2 minutes, before security BUSTED them, pulled them over, made his Mom pay a HUUUGE fine (several hundred $$ IIRC) right there and then, on the spot......
Why would anyone pay a HUUUGE fine to anyone in campground security? This seems highly unlikely to me.

RE: Campsite saving / holding in state parks

If you want to pay the rental on a site and not use it, have at it.
It would be very amusing if a very wealthy person, Say Bill Gates, rented every campsite in the nation for July and August. Perfectly OK by your reasoning.
A couple of years ago our camping club, along with a couple of other ones, wanted to get a large number of camping sites at a state park that is very popular during the summer. I paid for 52 campsites a year in advance for a 3 day weekend. People paid me as they signed up. Most people arrived on a Thursday night but about 10-12 did not arrive until Friday. We didn't have to put anything into the campsites, probably because we had reservations for every water/electric site in the park.
Bill Gates approved this post. :C

RE: Camping around Memphis, Tn.

Here are a bunch of pictures from when we stayed at Tom Sawyer. It's pretty hard to beat this place for proximity to Memphis and is a great place to stay especially if you have a dog to walk along the river. Watching the river traffic go by is very relaxing.

RE: Who camps close to home?

Well we must not be the norm! We wouldn't even consider dragging our 5ver 20-50 miles to "camp" out. Way to much work loading, unloading, cleaning, etc.
This is exactly why we are adding a simple, no frills pop-up. I want something I can quickly and easily hook to the Jeep and head out with little prep time.
Having had a popup previously and now a 5th wheel, I think it's much less setup/takedown time with a 5er.

Wow, now THAT is customer service!

Around 3-4 years ago I purchased a Hensley TruControl brake controller. It worked flawlessly all that time but recently I noticed that the digital display was fading and after a few months it was totally unreadable. I contacted Hensley and told them what was happening and they offered me an extraordinary fix. They would send me a reconditioned replacement for $197 + shipping and if I returned the defective one that I had they would credit me back the $197 after they received it....and it worked just like that. No problems at all. So for the total cost of around $9.00 in shipping I got a brake controller that I am very happy with. Thanks Hensley!

RE: Lake Ray Roberts in Texas

We've been to both Johnson Branch and Isle du Bois areas of Ray Roberts Lake SP. Isle du Bois is usually more full than Johnson due to the large swimming beach that they have there. If you click on my signature photolink you will find a lot of pictures for both of the parks.
Based on shade, privacy and size these are my favorite campsites:
Isle du Bois -- 96-74-102-73-58-46-51
Johnson Branch -- 15-14-56-53-45
Have a good time there. We always do.

RE: Where to get heavy chocks?

I've been using the big black rubber ones for 4 years now. You definitely cannot run over one of these and they hold in place nicely.

RE: Water Pressure regulator

I've been using a Watts N55BG for a couple of years and it works well. I keep it set at 52# and that seems to give us good flow in the trailer.

Lake Mineral Wells SP pics

I just posted a bunch of pictures of Lake Mineral Wells state park here in Texas. It's a great park with exceptional hiking trails and is one of the best rock climbing parks in Texas. The campsites are well shaded and many are right on the lake which is crystal clear and excellent for swimming. Let me know what you think... Click her for pics

RE: where do ya'll spend New Year's?

In Red Bank, NJ at the Count Basie Theatre for the annual Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes New Year's Eve Show and Concert. We never know what other NJ performers might show up!
Southside Johnny is THE band people think of when you think of New Jersey. Better than Springsteen...well, almost. I was raised in NJ and used to go down the shore to Seaside all the time. SSJ&AJ always had the best horn section you can imagine. I'd bet they really rock on New Years Eve.

RE: The Amish don't typically accept Unemployment Benefits...

Good for them. As an aside, a friend of mine mentioned to me that all this stuff about "Amish quality" in RVs is a bunch of hooey. Considering everything that you read about poor RV quality, it's hard to appreciate Amish quality as a valid selling point of an RV. His view is more like Amish workers are cheap labor.

RE: 30A at the house-with a twist

Considering you can only park 24 hours with a possible max to 48 hours, I don't see a point in putting in a 30A box. If you do it yourself you will have to get it inspected anyway and if an electrician does it, then it will hardly be cost effective. I would think that for your needs an extension cord into your garage with a 30A RV adapter would do the trick.
