RE: Automatic backups

Ghost has worked great for me. Set it and forget it. I needed it a few times and it has worked flawlessly

RE: Strange Vibration noise from my Ford V10

Mine sounds just like a heat shield rattle so its the first place I looked, tried hose clamps, wedging stuff in, bending the shield etc.. nothing. Thats when I took it to the dealer to have him take a look. They must have put a hose clamp on everything, I mean there were like 50 on them underneath on everything but still the noise. Its frustrating and like your problem it only is during a load. Let me know if you have find the answer

RE: Strange Vibration noise from my Ford V10

Sorry I have to laugh a little because I have the same noise with my V-10 for years and nobody has figured it out. First off mine only makes the noise when its cold out and its at 1750 rpms exactly. Its not ball joints, driveshafts etc.. its just a noise, there is no vibration or anything else involved and like you it does not affect the performance at all.
I have had it to the dealer who replaced the Y pipe, put hose clamps on absolutely everything and its still there. They even had multiple mechanics take a crack at it.
I have also read other sories and did bend the cover a little as suggested by many on the bell housing, still nothing.
The hard part is that it will not do it just sitting in park or neutral and revving up to that rpm, only while driving and only when its cold outside

RE: Refrig vent system

I have 2 of the solar powered fans you are talking about in the stack, 1 at the bottom blowing up and the other at the top to draw the air out. I also have a computer fan in the fridge wired to the light. To be honest with you I have not noticed any difference in the temps in any of the things I did. Also my fridge is not in a slideout either. The freezer works great but the fridge is not so great

RE: HOw do I know if gear driven or Hydraulic slides

Was that a dumb question? I thought if it as gear driven it would have little notches in the rails but am I right or can it be gear driven if the rails are smooth but makes a clicking noise once totally in or totally out?
No its not a dumb question. Some companies have gear driven slides but they are within a tube to protect the teeth, so the rail that you are looking for with teeth on it may be inside the tube.
Mine are hydraulic and my fluid tank is in the same compartment where the switch is for my landing legs, or look in the propane compartment to see if its there

RE: Mini Lap tops

I have an Acer, 160gb HD, XP, 2gb ram, 10 inch, with 6 cell battery and its been great. The battery will easily last me 5-6 hours. I have streets and trips loaded on it and that is my gps when we are on vacation. Don't beleive that 'most' netbooks only have SSD's, the earlier ones did but not anymore as folks found out that is just not enough space. The Acer has easily upgradeable memory (like a laptop) and came with 1gb. The 2gb stick was like 25 bucks and 2 minutes to install.

RE: What differentiates the manufacturers?

I also should have added in that this is not a retirement/FT rig but the family weekend camping rig. I admit there is a difference in the Teton from the 25k fiver but I was more talking about them being similar in the same price range(35-ish). Unfortunately with jobs, kids, school activites etc... taking plant tours is really not going to work although I could see the benefit from it.
At the present time we have decided to keep what we have since we like our floorplan and didn't see anything else we really liked. We were undecided as to get another bunkhouse model or not since the kids are getting bigger and it will only be a matter of time before they wont want to come with us anymore or cant because of jobs or ther commitments. If they can no longer come then its a whole different rig that me and mom will be looking at then the bunkhouse models.
Thanks for everyones input.

I see all kinds of things that will stir up the pot.
1). He looks like he is camping at Walmart
2). It looks like a Chinese Generator
3). I think those are also Chinese tires

RE: What differentiates the manufacturers?

I guess I need to add in that all the units we looked at were aluminum framed and all had the rubber roofs and heated underbellies.
The differences I noticed was the R-factor insulation in the units and if its either 30 or 50 amp.

What differentiates the manufacturers?

We went looking for a new fiver and they seem to all be built the same regardless of manufacturer, so what separates them from each other? There are only so many companies that make frames, the same vents, tables, appliances etc… I read folks saying that “XXX is a really well built unit” yet when I look at XXX they are the same as everyone else with the same fiberboard wall material(or whatever it is), stapled together with the tape strip that joins 2 pieces together, same appliances and so on. The only difference I notice is the amount of cargo space and what comes with the unit like electric rear jacks, equaflex suspension, yadda yadda. So what makes them different?

RE: Acer Aspire One any good?

I bought one and its been great. I have a 6 cell battery and that thing will last me for 5 hours easy and way longer if it goes into hibernate mode. The reason I went with this one was because upgrading the memory from 1gb to 2gb (max)was just like a laptop with the access panel on the bottom and one screw. The others I looked at you had to take apart if you could upgrade them at all. A 2gb memory stick was like 25 bucks. I use it a lot for our trips with streets and trips on it and sure like looking at a 10 inch screen rather then a small gps screen.

RE: MS S&T 2010 new feature.

austinjenna, where was the button located on the page to start the download? I went to the link which said I had to register first then it would take me back to the page to start the download. I registered, it then took me back to the page, but then couldn't find a button anywhere to start the download.
Norm
I don't remember how I did it but there was no trick for me, I just signed in and followed the screens.
I did install it and have not played with it too much yet. You can transfer the route to your gps. Here is what the help says about it
Send data directly to your GPS navigation device
You can send places on the map or routes that you created in Streets & Trips to your Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation device. When you send data directly to your GPS navigation device, Streets & Trips sends the name, latitude, and longitude of the location. In addition, if the information is available, Streets & Trips sends the address, phone number, description, and Entertainment Online coupon.
You can send data directly to your GPS navigation device using either of the following methods:
Wirelessly, through MSN Direct, if you have an MSN Direct-enabled GPS navigation device. For more information, visit MSN Direct Services, and then click Send to GPS.
Through a USB connection, when you don't have MSN Direct. To use a USB connection, you must have a Garmin navigation device and you must install the Garmin Communicator Plugin.
Ways to get data from Streets & Trips to your GPS navigation device
You can get data from Streets & Trips to your GPS navigation device the following ways:
By exporting your data to a .gpx file and then importing the same file on your GPS navigation device.

RE: Tow Master Tires?

I just had 2 blowouts this weekend on my greenball towmaster tires. They were not that old but it happened within 10 miles of each other. I had to unhook and find a walmart to get new tires put on then head back change them and hitch back up. I think they are garbage myself.

S&T does not have updates but instead come out with a new version of the software every year. Example, S&T 2007, S&T 2008, S&T 2009 ...

I use a 400 watt convertor for the laptop in the truck.
I've done that, too, but you can simplify things by getting an power supply with 12 volts in and computer voltage out.
Mine has a variable output voltage, 17-20 volts.
Its nice to have the inverter for powering other things as well. My kids will have nintendo's, movie player etc.. plugged in and I have the laptop going. I have removed my center console and built my own, the inverter is in a shelf on the bottm and I have a house electrical outlet on the side of my console.

RE: 5th wheel generator while mobile

I have never run into a problem doing exactly what your saying. I have 2 honda 2000's in the truck bed that can power the trailer while going down the road so the ac can run and get the tailer cool before I arrive.
