RE: Truck Camper bicycle rack?

Because I put my kayaks on the roof, I opted for a front hitch bike rack. It works very well.
Same here...

RE: Sea eagle boats

We love our porta-bote. I have run boats since I was a young boy and run tuna boats to the off shore canyons. We have owned many boats and spend a great deal of time on the water.
The p-bote is very well engineered, and is our go-to boat when heading for the lakes up North. They take a chop very well, and are robust. We have put ours through some hard use and it keeps on ticking.
Highly recommended.
We have the 14' and run an 8hp Merc 2 stroke. 3 + dog = very comfortable.

Why not just buy a new hatch...if it is yellow it is already brittle from UV...

RE: CHOOSING A CAMPER FOR A "HEAVY DUTY" FORD F 150

Well you have done your home work, now time to do your shopping Adventurer makes a couple of lighter weight models; 80SK and 80GS you might look at. Our Adventurer has been great and would purchase another...
I am a little confused by one of your requirements; if you are soon to retire, and you still have the Wife's car, why are you so concerned about a daily driver?
I agree with some of the others, economy will be a lot less of a concern when you start to use your camper. If you are like most of us, you will load up for the season and leave it on. Some Folks leave the camper on ALL the time.
The best means of achieving good fuel economy is keeping your right foot under control.
Note; fuel economy and camper (of any kind) should not be used in the same sentence.
Good luck-let's go shopping...It's fun to spend someone elses money!

RE: THE HEAVY DUTY F150 HAS ARRIVED - First report ...

Good deal...a trip to the scales really tells you what you have to work with.
Find a camper ~ 1700# max dry weight and you will be all set.
Good luck, keep us posted on your choices...
Nice weather is here in the NE...are you buying for this season?
Have fun shopping!

RE: AAA vs. Good Sam roadside assistance

Just checked...my "AAA plus RV" coverage is nationwide, guaranteed.
I really don't belive that is true for road side assistance.
AAA are regional "clubs".
No AAA "club" is national...to the best of my knowledge.
While your regional club may cover you, if the region you are traveling in does not offer RV coverage...well...I don't think you club will send a wrecker from NY to CA to come get you...
Ex; you are from WA..if you are traveling anywhere in New England and have a problem, you call AAA in New England...they will not touch your RV, regardless of what coverage your "home" club offers.
They may take your truck, but they will leave your camper on the side of the road....
Here is a blurb from the AAA site in our area that demonstrates how the "clubs" operate;
*Our Territory: AAA Southern New England proudly serves members in Rhode Island and the following counties in Connecticut: New Haven,
Fairfield and Litchfield, and in Massachusetts: Bristol, Middlesex, Worcester, Berkshire, Plymouth, Suffolk, Barnstable, and Norfolk.
Copyright 2010. AAA Southern New England
AAA does offer insurance for loss/damage nationaly...but not road side assistance.
Again, you may have to push/ask the right question to get to the bottom of the RV coverage issue...many of the operators just don't know/understand.
I am not trying to dissuade you...just want you to understand what coverage you may or may not have.
If you don't plan on leaving your region, and they offer RV coverage for road side assistance...then it really doesn't matter.
Use the search key...you will find pages of discussion related to this.
Good luck, B

RE: AAA vs. Good Sam roadside assistance

The problem with AAA is they are "regional" clubs...NOT all "Clubs" offer RV coverage.
Here in New England there is no AAA RV coverage.
You may want to call your AAA Club and ask this question specificaly...some of the operators may not be so aware of this.
So depending on where you travel...you may be out of luck.
If you travel x-country...you may be out of luck.
We switched to GS a while back...and have had to call them 2-3 times for car towing...and the response was fine.
It is interesting that when you call GS they immdeiately start to ask what you are driving/towing etc. Presumably to determine what size truck to send.
I don't recall AAA ever asking those kinds of questions.
I our experience, GS is much more focused on RV's.
BTW; all of our vehicles are covered under GS.

RE: Truck Campers

Would someone mind telling me why TC's are not welcome in some campgrounds??? It's not a traveling meth lab. A camper is a camper is a camper. They may not be able to afford the "approved" rigs but they are just as nice. Good Grief:h
Yeah that was a new one on me also...
I suppose there are some "RV Resorts" that are exclusive to Class A's of a certain vintage, etc...
We have never run into this...but then again...we are usualy in he woods...
We own a TC and a TT...the TC sees much more use that the TT...

RE: Rubber roof to metal roof?

I have to admit...one of the reasons I am reluctant to trade up to a newer camper is our aluminum roof.
It continues to be absolutely trouble free...and you can't seem to get them any longer?
B
Sure you can!............$1,200 ;)
Dak
From the factory?
I have looked...and have not found that check box on any order sheet...
Who offers aluminum roof OEM?
