RE: Florida style RV 'port' in Texas?

There is a community of them just North of the center part of Lake Whitney in Texas. We found them by mistake when we made a wrong turn. The "house" part is not as extensive as the one shown in a picture on another post in this thread. They just have a small sitting room and a bathroom at the rear of the one side. It really resembled a large carport rather than house with an attached RV parking space.

RE: Shared Cooking Duties

We have another couple the camps with us. They used to have a PUP but after he developed cancer, they had to sell it and now just stay with us. We have a good relationship and have been sharing meals for many years so there are no issues with us stepping on any toes.
The division of responsibilities for us various each time. Often the driver is the preparation time. My wife is retired and the woman in the other couple is not so we will often prepare meals in advance to share. Especially for Friday dinner or Saturday breakfast, it is an easy suggestion that the person with the most time in advance provide the food.
We do dutch oven cooking and I'm often wanting to try out a new dish. That is another easy way to get the meal sharing discussion rolling but suggesting trying something new and offering to provide it.
Our friends are very independent in spite of his illness and want to participate in providing the meals. My wife will often ask which they prefer to provide, breakfast or dinner, leaving the door open for them to make an offer. We have many times when we each perpare our own food and simply share the time together. Other times, we might go out to eat if there is some unique place near the CG. Often, the key is simply getting the conversation started and being flexible with whatever response is provided.

RE: Soft Bathroom Floor

I would not change the thickness of the flooring material to 5/8" unless the rest of the flooring is the same. Plywood would be good, I went back to the OSB because I could not find Plywood the same thickness as the remaining OSB. Mine repairs are in the most visiable areas and I am installing the Home Depot Allure Ultra for the finished floor. I do not know if this will telegraph any underlying defects to the surface or not, I just do not want to take a chance. I know that other vinyl flooring will show the under flooring patterns after a while. I guess the finished flooring you use will be the determining factor as to the subflooring height differences allowable. Good Luck with the project. I am hoping to get the subfloor repaired theis weekeng and move the motor home out of the barn so it can be loaded for our first trip in three weeks. If the Ultra is finished or not I do not care. I might take the tools and Allure with me so I can pick away at it while we are gone.
Agreed on not changing the thickness. I'm trying to find 5/8" marine plywood right now. Failing that, I'll see what I can find in 5/8". I have some left over 1/8" luan from a roof repair last year and could use that to "layer" if I had to. That would definitely be a last resort, however. I don't want to use that luan any place where there might be water.
I appreciate your suggestion about the Ultra. When speaking with one of the guys at Home Depot, I learned that they get remnant 6'x9' rolls of linoleum directly from the manufacturers but that those rolls were different colors by shipment and by store. At any given moment, 5 different HD stores (and Lowes, too, if I understand correctly) will have completely different colors and thicknesses. The stuff that was down was cheap and tears pretty easily, though it has held up reasonably well under our use for 7 years. I'm looking through all of my local HDs to see what I can find and will check out the Ultra then.

RE: Soft Bathroom Floor

Today's Progress
http://www.irv2.com/attachments/photopost/data/500/thumbs/toilet_floor_3.jpg
I have all the rotted wood cut out. The black in the hole is a membrane stretched on top of the metal supports below.
My next task will be to figure out where the metal runs front to back to the left of the hole and square up the hole to that point. I'm looking for 5/8" marine plywood for the patch. Once I get that, the rest should be a little easier.
There are nails that go straight down from wall between the sides of the hole but that wall is not sitting on a metal support. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with those nails yet but I suspect that I'm going to cut them off. I'll worry about the bottom of the wall wiggling after the new board is in place.
Don't be afraid to toss out more ideas. I'll take all the help that I can get.
