RE: Toilet question

the only difference you may find is the location and length of the water hook up hose. It can be modified to go where you need it to. Be aware there are normal and low profile models so make sure you know what you want. I have ordered parts from Thetford and they were both helpful and quick in shipment.

Yamaha 3000 Generator

I have a Yamaha 3000 SIB generator I use occasionally to power my motorhome. due to illness I was not able to start it for almost a year. I finally felt up to it and went out and started it yesterday. Needless to say the battery was dead, however I did get it started using the manual crank. It would run approx 30 seconds and shut off and would not restart, however if I let it sit for about 5 mins, it would restart again and run for the same amount of time before shutting down. I checked the air filter and the only gas filter I could find was in the tank. Do you think after all that time I could have aquired water in the gas? Any other thoughts on what it could be. Oh, it runs perfect for those 30 seconds, no missing, sputtering or anything else. thanks

RE: Carrying Motorscooter on Class C

I have a 2007 four winds 5000 29r and carry a Yamaha 125 on the back at about 200 lbs. My rack fits in the hitch and allows you to attach a tow bar behind that. I have had no problem with steering or stability. A lot of people here will tell you how you cant do it and it will overload the back axle etc. If it drives ok, then you make the decision. For me, it works well, just have to watch going up and down driveways to make sure it doesnt scrape. Go at an angle if possible.

RE: is diesel the right choice for me?

I have never heard of Pheonix Alaska, but if that is true, then remember that a diesel does not start well in cold weather. Also, you would have to put a pile of miles on to justify the cost of that diesel. If you are looking to break even on the difference, consider the inital cost difference, the weight of the diesel, and then the maintnance. Depending on how much oil it holds it costs a bunch more than a v10 which holds six quarts. Also, keep in mind that you wont put near as many miles on it as you do a car, so you will probably never wear out a gas engine in one lifetime. just my opinion

RE: TOAD

I have a 2000 accord that I tow 4 down. You need to call Honda and check. I would think if the owners manual said no, then thats what the answer is. Honda was very helpful when I called and told me the procedures to use. I have towed over 10,000 miles with this vehicle but that does not mean you can do the same thing with a 2007.

RE: Mounting Honda 3000iSA in Bed of Truck

Mounted my Yamaha in the back, but moved it all the way to the rear. Pointed it so exausted out the back and dropped the tail gate when I ran it. The cover kept the water out and the heat was not an issue with the tailgate down. I would worry about overheating with no more than an 8 inch crack for it to cool. Also, mounting it to the back of the truck gave me about 6 more feet of cable to get from the generator to the back of the trailer where the electrical plug was. Worked great for me. Good Luck

RE: Considering 2007 Coachmen Freelander - Any Other Options?

I would not worry too much about some calling something "entry level". I have a four winds 5000 that is also entry level. I could have went with Born Free that is probably considered top of the line if I wanted to spend $100,000.00 or more. Not me. I have never owned a travel trailer, 5th wheel, tent camper or motorhome that did not require some type of repair. The ticket here is to hope that you can do the repair without taking it back to the dealer. Remember that unless you are retired or full timing, most of us put 5 or 6 thousand miles a year on one. Sure would hate to look out in the drive way and seeing all my money sitting there. Get what you want with a floor plan that fits you needs. Good luck and happy camping.

RE: Where are used class Cs that are for sale?

I have seen bunches of them in Forida just sitting on used car lots. Try ebay. There certainly is no shortage to include at rv dealers.

RE: Samson tires?

Remember you get what you pay for. One blow out will cost you a lot of bucks to fix the damage. I dont think I would want either brand.

RE: Electric Fireplace for a Class A

Home Depot or Lowes. Costs less than 100 dollars and has a 1500 watt heater with a thermostat that can be either turned or or turned off so you have the fireplace with no heat. Dimplex is the one to use. The flames are actually provided by a 25 watt light bulb. You wouldn't know it wasn't real by just looking at it. I have even see them at Walmart on occasion. Best time to buy one is in the spring when winter is over and they are trying to get rid of the last of the stock. Lowest price I have seen is about $50.00 at close out.

RE: Drain plug

Should be on the outside, on the drivers side of the vehicle located near the fresh water fill, but below it. It is a petcock like valve that when opened will let the water out. As far as the mirrors, they adjust. Probably manually, and you may need to really force them, but once they are in the right position, as stated above you need a convex mirror that basically sticks on to the main mirror. They come in various sizes, so whatever will work for you. The good news is, even if you had the documentation, it would probably not show the location of the drain plug. Most are very generic and talk about how to wax the vehicle and other stupid stuff.

RE: New 5th wheel

I have owned a Cardinal 5th wheel and Travel Trailer, 27 foot and 31 foot. On the ones I had, I assure you that full timing would not be an option for this trailer. Construction is of poor quality in the drawers and stuff you would use daily. the Cardinals did not hold up to using on the week ends every couple of weeks. Very poor quality and worse quality management.

RE: RE gluing rubber roof too plywood ?

I think I would use a heat gun to try and heat the rubber up and the glue around the area and then use a roller to try and get it flat. I would think the heat from the gun would be more than enough to dry the wood underneath the rubber. Of course JohnH has the ideal solution posted, but how much time does it take to get the material in, and can you buy it directly from the company, and in what quantity do you have to buy it? This is just my opinion, but much easier than cutting thru the rubber roof and taking a section out.

RE: Info needed on hitch carriers and mopeds

In my experience go ahead and spend the extra money on a Yamaha or Honda. The cheapie Chinese brands will work okay until you need them repaired, and then just go ahead and haul them to the dump. You also might want to consider like a Yamaha Vino 125 that will confortably travel 55 in traffic. Tho it does require a motorcycle license and insurance, it is well worth the extra effort. In SC, you get a temporary license for 1 year a time by paying I think 4 dollars and taking a written test. It is quite easy to find a Yamaha or Honda dealer for maintenace. I travel with one Yamaha 125 on a rear carrier on a 29 footer with no problems. The weight of the 125 is about 200 pounds. Good luck.

RE: carry electric wheelchair or scooter behind Class C

I think you will find that the extra 350 pounds added to the back will take a lot of load off of the front wheels, perhaps making driving more difficult. A 32 footer will probably be close to maximum weight empty. I carry a scooter, a 125cc yamaha that weights in at about 200 pounds on a hitch mount, and have no real steering issues, and mine is 29 feet. I would think as far as the steering characteristics, it would be what you are comfortable with. I dont think air bags will do anything to increase the carrying capacity of the rear axle, but they may help level the load some. The real downfall with a clazs C is it low carrying capacity. Whatever you decide, good luck.
