RE: Tucson to Ouray route

Only you can decide your comfort level in towing over the Million Dollar Highway. You know what the road is like.
We have pulled over it but really prefer, and like the Cortez/ Lizard Head route. Much less worrisome. It is a great way to cross the San Juans.

RE: Any Ideas for a 315/70r17 Winter Studded Snow Tire Load E

Slightly off topic but if you plan to drive to Alaska in March you had better check on the rules regarding studded tires in Alberta, BC, and Yukon. Some jurisdictions ban them after certain spring months.
Pose this question in the Canada/Alaska forum and locals from those places will know the answer.

RE: hope link works

Yes - we were there in our Rv in Mesa and left the next AM - after I washed the truck windshield so I could see to drive! Unbelievable - and as far as the Phoenix area - we were just on the edge of the cloud!!
Not something we want to experience many more times!

RE: Moderators

How will we ever get by with nobody to shut things down each time a debate happens to start?
Wishing Dianne the best in her recovery!
Simple - don't start a debatable subject, and keep personal opinions to yourself!
John
PS - obviously I will find wifi some places on the road Now in page at Lake Powell.

RE: Reservation needed in Arizona?

In the Mesa area generally for long-term stays between jan. and end of March a reservation is usually required. You can usually find a space for a day or so most anytime.
Last season our park filled up for long term spots.
Try here: www.cal-am.com and see what they say.

Hottubkid is absolutely correct! Rules are there to be followed by ALL and a hosts job is to see that ALL follow them!

RE: to Poncha spings CO, from the south "Raton or Poncha pass"

We have used both pretty often. To me they are just about the same, but how do you propose getting to the San Luis valley in order to cross Poncha?
Just curious.

RE: For heaven sake slow down!

There are many other threads for current road conditions. Those discussions are way past the original intent of this one so it is closed. Look elsewhere for road conditions for any stretch you need.

RE: Diesel availability, Waterton Park to Jasper

RVer's Friend shows a Flying J truck stop in Cranbrook and a Husky truck stop in Golden. Also listed is a Flying J in Hinton, east of Jasper. If your return trip takes you eastbound from Jasper then there are plenty of diesel stops.
But your route will not take you anywhere near these FJs!
However - you will find diesel available anywhere fuel is sold on your route.
What is your suggested route from the east side? Makes a difference for folks that will try to give you specific information.

Moderators

Hi all. Please be good folks and behave yourselves for the next while. Dianne is back in the hospital with a heart attack as of yesterday and I am enroute to our workkamping/CG hosting job in N. Idaho and will be off line also for a while until settled in.
Thanks, John

RE: Increase in Camping Fees !

It costs money to support that lady playing a harp by the grand piano at the Lake Louise lodge. And folks enjoy that kind of nature while sipping their cocktails. And that is the way Parks Canada wants it (apparently).
No - Parks Canada has no part in funding staff at the Chateau and similar places. To the contrary - the hotel owners pay lease fees to the Park.

RE: I 80 vs I 70

Yes, on both of them in Oct. The high passes in CO are more likely to get snow than WY at this time of year but either one will sometimes get it.
But if there is a snow storm I 80 will be the worst choice because of the notorious winds/ground blizzards. For the poster who said they have never encountered winds on I 80 - just count you blessings!

RE: special car insurance confusion!

The final word is there to read. The Inter-provincial Proof of Insurance IS needed in Canada , IN CASE of ACCIDENT or TRAFFIC Stop.
Not needed to enter the country. Border agents will not ask for it - it is not a crossing matter.
Check the information in the "clickies at the top of this forum.
