RE: For you Yellowstone Early Birds

How can it be snowing, it`s 90 deg. here!!! One of these years I`ll make it out there. my cousin lives in Kalispell MT. and last year they said that the Going To The Sun Road didn`t open untill late July! I think that is when he said it opened? I guess they had a lot of snow last year?!

RE: Found a couple of MPG's...I think??? (Long w/Pics)

60 feet across HUH! can I just follow along side of you? how do you make it past semis? LOL :B Seriously, I have always wanted to do this, but I figured between the initial price and the savings in fuel it would be awhile before I seen any savings. although it would be nice not to have so many dead bugs on the front of the trailer! Let us know how it goes on the next trip.

RE: HPFP ??

Did I miss the post about what was actually wrong with the OP`s truck?!!! Stalling / no power at moderate / higher speeds, Dual tank E 350. Suspect vapor lock, bad fuel pump, clogged tank filters, return lines. Suggest fuel pressure and volume test. No tools for that job. OP replacing fuel pump on rail (easy) job first. I didnt read where the dealer called to tell him all that! Whats with all the bickering back and forth about an issue no one has any idea about. Even the dealer was still looking into it! Kind of confused on how so many people know what is wrong with his truck when they haven't personally looked at it?

RE: Planning vacation near Dollywood TN - Aug 20th

We really liked the Jellystone in Cosby TN. down the road from Smoky Bear. very nice place, owners are extremely nice and friendly. I know it`s not on your list, but I thought I would throw that one out there.

RE: Really nice old Ford TV

Hope they deleted the EGR, put in ARPs, and got rid of the Ford gold coolant! It`s a Cummins. not a PowerJoke! Love the extended cab with the opening doors.

RE: Did I choose the wrong gear ratio 3.73?

Your 6.0 will develop 353 horsepower and 373 pound-feet of torque with either a 3.73 or a 4.10. The rear gear ratio will not change the power output of your truck. The rear end gear only changes the final gear ratio between the engine and rear wheels. The transmission will automatically find the ratio that will allow the engine to run at its peak hp rpm. So with the 3.73 you may have to run in 5th gear where the 4.11 would allow you to run in 6th gear. Nothing wrong with that. That is the purpose of a transmission. Now for someone who has most of his miles without a trailer you will burn less fuel at the end of the year with the 3.73. For your application the 3.73 was the best choice and the truck will be able to tow trailers up to the 13,000lb the truck it rated for. You may not be the first unit to the top of the hill but you will not be the last either. No not really. the final drive changes the overall gear ratios in the trans too. so yes, you can run in a different gear, but it will do better because it doesn`t need to work as hard due to the final drive.

RE: Did I choose the wrong gear ratio 3.73?

3.73 with the new 6 speed is a good combo! it`s actually slightly better than the old 4 speed 4.10 combo. the speed has a deeper first gear ratio. no need to worry!

RE: AC evaperator

I agree, go with actual Mopar parts. $1000 sounds about right for an evap replacement. I too would change out the heater core while they`re in there! Good Luck!

RE: Front seems like it is drifting, went to CAT scales

For those who are still interested in my saga. I am going to a company that specializes in trailers on Tuesday. I described my problem to him and he is going to take it for a drive and check everything out. Will report back next week Sounds good! we`ll be waiting to here from you.

RE: Class B+ priced way over NADA

Are you sure that NADA is listing for B+ and not just a B? could be a misprint in the book! either way what I would do is search similar B+ RV`s and go from there. sometimes NADA does not differentiate between different models. with a B+ there is a big difference from a B. this sounds like the scenario. Good luck!

RE: Fiat to Offer Lifestyle Truck

Don't write letters. Mark your ballots for people that will again represent the America people, not just the people/corps that put money in their re-election kitty. Who would that be? I think you're more likely to find sasquatch mounting a unicorn than a politician that isn't more concerned with money than the country. OK, lets not go here with this thread! All I`m saying is we will never see the diesel motor they offer overseas!

RE: Fiat to Offer Lifestyle Truck

Don't bet on that Dodge guy, they are working to get the diesel to pass the tree huger specs. I'm thinking it might go over well given the small pick up market is wide open again. I could never understand anyone buying a Dakota that was basically a mini Ram. Somewhere along the line mini pick ups got put on steroids and lost there way. All except the Ranger that is and for some bonehead reason Ford killed it :h > Good for use but I think it will be bad for Ford in the long run. I say build them Sergio lets get them going. Did anyone hear that Sergio basically told the Italian's if they didn't start getting with the program he would close some plants and bring the work to the USA?!?!? I'm liking this guy more and every day! Don I`de like to think so, but they did the same with the diesel in the Liberty and we know how well that motor went over. the emissions killed it!

I like it! it would look even better when they Dodgeify it! LOL! to bad though that the Diesel will never make it to the U.S.

RE: How do you secure your breakaway cable to your hitch?

I don't connect it to the 'hitch' at all... ;) I connect it to the bumper of my truck that is not connected to the hitch in any way. The idea being that if the entire hitch fails, there goes your break away attatchment point right along with the hitch! That's just what I do.. ;) Mitch A big X2! Ford put a hole in the bumper for a ball. They also put some places on the bottom of the bumper to hook the safety chains if all you had was the ball on the bumper. So I hook the cable there with a quick link. A caribiner would work just as well. I don't think I would trust an S hook. But I read a good tip here lately about routing it. I have a long shackle padlock I use through the hole on the coupler. I run the cable through the shackle. X3!!! also On my old Dodge van I put an eyebolt in the body to attach the breakaway to. the chances of a hitch failing are slim, but there is still a chance!
