RE: Hand held electric drill for jacks

Your basic homeowner type drill will do the job. You probable own one now. You'll just have to have the right size socket then you're all ready to go. Sometimes a 6" extension is nice so you don't have to crawl under the TT to access the jack.
I just take the drill from the garage and bring it with me. Works fine.

RE: RV Dealer - Was what he said true?

1) As a general rule, any Rv'er is welcomed to overnight at a CW. Regardless of the brand of RV or where you bought it.
2) The warranty is a different issue. The Ford warranty should be honored at any Ford dealer.
3)The different appliances, like the ref, HWH, A/C, have their own warranties and authorized warranty centers. Regardless of the brand of RV, the warranty on your A/C unit, for example, should be honored. I've taken my RV to CW for warranty work and the RV was not purchased at CW.
4) Now if the issue is neither Ford nor a specific mechanical device, that's another issue. You need to find out just how warranty work will be handled by Forest River if you're a 1,000 miles away from the selling dealer and have a problem. Get it in writing and not just verbally. As goes the saying, a verbal agreement ain't worth the paper it's written on.
CW does have an advantage there because they have stores in most states.
All in all, I'd say the salesman was full of it. Leaving the dealership was a good move on your part.

RE: Pets in National parks

We leave our dogs in the camper all the time. Just be sure there is good ventilation and ample water. As long as the dog isn't barking incessantly, who will ever know? or care?
I leave a 4" x 6" card with my cell phone number on it. It sits on the dash board in a real obvious spot. That way, if anyone needs me, all they have to do is call.
NP rules are the most restrictive. The general rule is a pet can only be on a paved surface.
Enjoy your trip and don't worry about the dog. We travel with three of them, and it's never been an issue anywhere.

Vehicles have two major safety systems; brakes and tires. That's no place to be cutting corners. Replace the tires.

RE: Quartsite

It's Quartzsite, aka "Q".
The RV show started today and runs through next Saturday.
If it's made for an RV most likely you will find it at the show. It's fun just looking around. At least to me, and another 100,000 people, it is.
If you can't stand crowds, stay out of Q until March.

RE: Lake Havasu City, Az

This site has a list of POI's(Points of Interest), that can be downloaded into your GPS unit, Streets & Trips, etc., that includes the area you're referring to. I've used it in the Lake Havasu area.
I use it often. It does cost $6/year, but the way I figure it, if it leads me to one free site per year, I'm way ahead on the deal.

RE: Interest rates for Under a 100,000.00 Loan .

If you own real estate, and are eligible for an equity loan, that will, in all likelihood, get you the very best interest rate. Something in the 3 to 4% range.
Concerning your basic question. A big factors in answering is the loan-to-value ratio and your credit rating. No one here can give you an answer without knowing the answer to both matters.
Are you looking to borrow 100% of the purchase price? 50%? 25?
What's your FICO credit score? 300? 850? or somewhere in between?
Best answer? Call around to the local banks & credit unions.

RE: Another cabover leak question

Here is the best product on the market for sealing leaks.
Eternabond
Until Spring time gets here, or until time & budget permit, just get a tarp and tie it over the roof. Not expensive and quite easy. Use the grommets along the edge of the tarp, and a few bungee cords to secure it to the bottom edge of the RV. Pretty easy, cheap & fast.
Better to spend a few bucks today then mega-bucks to replace rotten wood.

RE: Help! My town doesn't like my new toy!

Local RV parking ordinances/HOA regulations need to be checked *before* the purchase of the RV/boat/airplane,etc., not after. That way you won't face any nasty surprises.

RE: GPS died today, need new one quick -

The current on-line edition of Consumers Reports thinks highly of these Nuvi units. Starting from the top
3490 LMT
3450
3790T
3760T
2495 LMT
3750
I have a Nuvi 1450 and I'm very pleased with it.
Have fun:

RE: Holding tank sensors

Has anyone out there tryed this new sensor system??
Horst Miracle Probes
http://www.rvprobes.com/home.html
I installed a set about a year ago. Like the system you have now, the sensor is inside the tank so it is still subject to fowling no matter what the manufacturer says. After I dump the black tank, it's very common for the meter to read 1/3 or 2/3 full. After I flush the tank, the meter then reads empty.
When this sets craps out, so to speak, I won't get another.
SeeLevel makes a system but it's pricey. Depends just how important the issue is to you.

RE: Winnebago View

Be sure you press the dealer real hard to prove to you the OCCC of the exact unit you have in mind; options included!!
Mostly they will try to hide this number because it embarrasses them and sometimes leads to a lost sale.
OCCC (Occupant & Cargo Carrying Capacity):
As of June 2, 2008, the Federal DOT mandated a new weight label for motorhomes called the OCCC label. This replaces the previous RVIA CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity) label and redefines how it is calcuated. OCCC is defined to be the difference between the motorhome GVWR and its unladen weight (ULW), but it requires that the ULW include a full tank of fuel and propane. Thus the OCCC gives the weight you have available for all passengers, gear, food, clothing, etc., plus any trailer tongue weight carried by the coach.
The weights on the label must be for the particular motorhome, as configured for delivery to the dealer. Further, if the dealer installs additional accessories, he must provide an updated label. This assures the owner knows what he/she is actually getting in terms of carrying capacity.

RE: 25W bulb in house batt basement for heat

A charged battery will not freeze.
From the Trojan battery site.
Can a battery freeze?
The only way that a battery can freeze is if it is left in a state of partial or complete discharged. As the state of charge in a battery decreases, the electrolyte becomes more like water and the freezing temperature increases. The freezing temperature of the electrolyte in a fully charged battery is -92.0oF. At a 40% state of charge, electrolyte will freeze if the temperature reaches approximately 16.0oF.
A battery charge maintainer like this, is a better idea then a light bulb

Call them and tell them you want to confirm an appointment in site so and so. They will say "Yes mr smith, you are confirmed (dont mention a name, just a site).
Wait one day and call and cancel that one/
This is a joke, right?
Surely you would not screw someone over like that.
