Hi: None of you guys know the real reason he is going to Alaska do you?. Up here June 1st is the time of year you don't breath unless you want to swallow about 1000 black flies all at once. Have a good trip Paul, I will eat your share for you... Mike

RE: floor sag lance 1161

Hi: Although I never put a brace up in the spot you are talking about I would think you do not have a problem at this point. Your 1161 would have some deflection front to back and with no basement there could be that much movement. The question is and this is what you should check, Does it affect the area around your door (opening and closing contact). Are your jack attachment plates front and rear undamaged and are your bolts tight. Have you ever had a water leak under the sink or your fresh water tank leak? Check under your sink for soft floor at the outside wall. Also check the drip tube from the fridge from the outside fridge hatch to make sure it has not leaked and ran down that wall to cause rot. RE: Lance owners I need help!!! (1131 Tent replacment )

Hi: As others have said you will have to seek out a sail/boat top maker. I have already gone through this with lance. There does not seem to be any they can find. i was told that the new version will not fit ours due to the opening on the 1191 being different. Talked to service and teck they could not come up with any answers for me. Mine will last for a while yet but will find someone now who will build it for me when I need it. Mike Note: If you get someone to make it and you camp in the cold be carefull of the material used, from what I have reserched some materials don't do well in the cold.

RE: Is bigger really always better.

Hi: To each his own comes to mind. Right now in my life bigger is better, before 10 years ago smaller was better, 10 years from now smaller will likely be better again.. Mike

RE: Inside the belly of the beast...Lance1131

Hi Dave: Where is that for the tar sands? I agree about the lance lock system, it takes the need for welds on the main part of the camper out of the equation. That in itself makes it stronger. The basement tank bracing is just a poor job done. I still dont think the speed screws I seen in your pic that they used were lobilock so that would be false advertizing. I wil be getting at mine in the next few weeks, will do a picture compairison of yours to mine.. Mike

RE: Inside the belly of the beast...Lance1131

Hi: One thing I noticed is those self tapping screws sure don't look like lubilock to me. I think one of there brochures made note that all screws where lubilock to prevent electrolysis. Wonder where else they are not. Mike

RE: This may be weekend we pull the trigger!

Hi: The only thing I will say is don't EXPECT the dealer to do anything for you. Check everything yourself. In most cases there pdi is a joke. Check that everything works, doors all work corectly and are square, check the roof and calking everywhere, check drain valves, taps, hot water tank, windows, ect. Most of all don't get overwhelmed at the newness and have a good look. Also don't give them your money until you are satisfied because with some when you drive off the lot they could care less. Some not all... Mike

RE: Inside the belly of the beast...Lance1131

Hi Dave 1131. Looks like you are at a job that I will be doing once it warms up a bit more. Looks good. Other than the welds and lack of insulation the basement does not look as bad as some I have seen. I think the welder at Lance is smoking funny weed on the job That usually results in better welds. Good pictures, I will now know what to expect with mine. I have done something today that you will know all about. I install a basin tap so that I can wash all of my hands instead of just my fingers. Added a couple of valves also. Will add a soap dispenser in the other hole. Thanks for the post. RE: Deer attack

Hi: sorry to hear that, hope the insurance goes well. Up here the deer are bad but the moose are worse. One word of advice if heading at a moose, hit the breaks and duck. With there long legs the tend to slide right up the hood, enter the windshield and exit out the back, not a good seen. Mike

RE: Removing Atwood water heater

Hi: As mentioned above, disconnect water, gas and electric. There is a bunch of screws holding the tank from the outside, remove them. You will think that there is more screws somewhere but all it will be is the butyl tape putty holding the tank in. You will have to gently pry the tank out to brake the suction of the butyl tape. If you have any more questions you can pm me here or on LOA. Mike

RE: TC insurance and stupid accident

Hi: Sorry to hear about what happened. Good thinking on the tires. You might want to call the camper manufacture and see if they will fix it for you because it is so new. You should get a better job/ maybe a replacement roof if you went that way. Repairs on a bran new camper should be avoided if you can. A hole new roof would be better. Mike
