RE: SHUTTLE LAUNCH

Here's some other info which I hope is helpful that has been culled over the past couple of years...
When watching a launch, you can listen to Radio:
local radio stations to listen to are 91.5 FM, 99.3 FM, 101.1 FM,
1350 AM and 580 AM.
If you have a scanner or a 2 meter ham rig, listen on 146.94 Mhz.
NASA Select Television is carried on Spacenet 2, transponder 5, channel 9, 69 degrees
West, transponder frequency is 3880 MHz, audio subcarrier is 6.8 MHz,
polarization is horizontal.
TV: Local stations such as channels 56, 2, 6 & 9 sometimes have live
coverage. They usually just interrupt the program that is in progress for the
final 2 minutes of prelaunch, and then a couple of minutes after launch. Same
for landing.

RE: Idea for back up lights.

Assuming that you patch in your center connector on the 7 pin, I wonder if that would provide enough light on the tail end of your TT that the TV backup light wouldn't matter that much?
I don't know.
Just FYI, the center pin of a 7 pin IS used with hydraulic brakes on boat trailers to actuate a solenoid that allows a boat trailer to be backed up.

RE: General generator question for home backup

I have used a 3500 watt genny for years to power our house in an outage. The math listed above of 24,000 watts is waaay off base. 3500 is not enough to run the whole house, but will run the furnace, microwave, television, refrigerator(s) and a bunch of lights. It's when the motors start-up that sucks the (watts). If we need to run the well pump, I switch off everything, pump up the water pressure, and switch the pump back off.
When I hit the lottery, I'll get a 7-8000 watt and we'll be good to go!

So you want to be a teacher?

A school teacher injured his back and had to wear a plaster cast around the upper part of his body. It fit under his shirt and was not noticeable at all.
On the first day of the term, still with the cast under his shirt, he found himself assigned to the toughest students in school. Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, he opened the window as wide as possible and then busied himself with desk work. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he took the desk stapler and stapled the tie to his chest.
He had no trouble with discipline that term.

RE: Downsizing? From What to What? What Did You Do?

Ha!
Yes, we "downsized" when our daughter graduated from college. Went from a 29' Terry to a 26' Nomad. Well... added a slide-out - and about 1000 lbs.
So, decreased length and added weight.
What's even better - - daughter still travels with us, with an extra dog!

RE: ERS ratings from the tow operators...

Well... I'm not sure I see any huge differences? All of those listed don't seem to have any statistical advantage.
I have to admit that I didn't pay a lot of attention in Stat 101 and almost flunked out due to Econ 52, But, I don't see a big difference.

RE: Water still in Gray and black tanks??

As CloudDriver says, it is the expansion you need to worry about. I make sure the valves are open so that if there is any expansion occurring it wont split anything. The pink stuff does help to lubricate the gaskets and seals.

RE: best and cheapest stuff to do Tampa,St. Pete

Agree with everything mentioned so far...
Keep in mind that Kennedy Space Center is only 2 hrs away to watch a shuttle launch or a variety of other rockets such as the Ares (Tues. 10/27/09). Allow a LOT more time to get back home, though.

RE: Manually cranking power tongue jack

Also check your ground wire. On my past two that has been the problem.
A word of caution - don't leave the hand crank in position while you work on it. That puppy can spin around like you wouldn't believe when the electric becomes active!
Great suggestion but how do you KNOW THAT? :B
Ummm... welll... uuhhhhh... I think I read it somewhere?
