RE: Now my turn need new printer

We have an Epson CX6400 for a few years now. Our Desktop PC is a like a print server. We set up a wireless network at home and I print from my laptop (Vista) and dh has a laptop with XP. Never a probelm with the Epson. We too have Epsons 3 of them and never a problem. I also like the fact for everyday printing you can buy cartridges for as little as $3.00 a cartridge online, not epson and they work well!!! You can do pictures also but if worried about that you can always get better ones for that. All of the other units built have very very costly cartridges!! 25 to who knows a piece. I use the cheap cartridges all the time. The printers have been trouble free & one is nearing 8 years old.

RE: Royal Purple

So what? Seriously: so what? It's better but it does not matter. Regular oil is good enough. I Totally agree with Jarlaxle>>>>

RE: Ford recall on cruise control

Just got my letter from Ford to have the switch replaced on my 2000 F550 super duty. They are so backed up my appointment isn't until December 3. They say it takes about 40 minutes and one can wait! After having the truck all this time they now say don't patk in a building and advise me to keep it away from buildings! It took about 5 minutes in the write up lane & no apptment at our dealer. It is a piece of wire with two fuses to blow so if fluid drips it will break the circuit so it can't cause a fire so I was told.

RE: Open Range Fifth Wheel Owners

jdubja: Mine has the ABS sidewall and they have not offered to replace it. It doesn't bother me and it does keep off some weight. What does bother me is the wire for the radio antenna. It is hooked up to the radio and then goes along with all the speaker wires into wire loom, then out along the bottom of the slide and into the bottom of the trailer. It then goes in between the floor and therefore I'm unable to trace it any further. It must end in the floor somewhere because there is no external radio antenna on the roof. Is anyone else's like this? Anyone have a solution? About the radio, forget everything I said after "It is hooked up to the radio". The wire that goes into the loom is for the TV. The radio wire just goes into the wall behind the radio. What happens from there I have no idea. I don't get any AM radio and very poor reception on a couple of FM stations only. I hooked up a car radio antenna to the back of the radio and I get good recetion. I was planning on running antenna wire all the way up to the roof and putting the car antenna up there. That will take many hours of work. Rather than doing that, what if I just put the car antenna behind the TV and it will be out of sight? Any thoughts on that? I did what you are proposing,I bought a $10.00 car antennae and stood it up in the corner behind the tv. I secured it with a plastic wire tye and it works very well! Don't even see it either, Enjoy!!!

RE: What kind of battery to buy for TT?

I'll call him tomorrow. I am hoping he just forgot to give it to me. I am sad to hear a dealer plain rip a customer of this way as many units state that the unit should not be plugged in without a battery in the system. Having purchased 6 new units over the years they all came with group 27 deep cycle batteries!

RE: Installing a 50 Amp Shore Receptacle on my home?

Currently I have a 27' TT that I plug into a 110 volt outlet in my garage. As you know, I can not run my air conditioner when preparing to go camping. I've searched the forum, but I can't find a good explaination on wiring a "50 Amp Shore Receptacle" on the outside of my home. I'm thinking of a 50 Amp just in case I buy my dream motorhome, and want to use the same receptacle. Is there a link on this forum for such a task? Thanks in advance. 4 wires Two 120 volt legs plus a ground and a neutral. You need a 220 volt dual breaker & a 50 amp 4 connector receptacle for the place to plug into. I had an opening in my panel,I also had a 40amp double so I used that and ran 10 gauge thhn in conduit,20 ft run, to the outside mounted recept in an enclosure. Works fine everyday we are home..There has been a lot of discussion on this on this forum so you should be able to search it out.

RE: Best GPS

We have a Magelln Maestro 4250 & are real pleased with it . I bought it refurbed for slightly over $100. and it works slick! I have talked to several folks who had Tom Tom But not anymore. The one thing they did like was the online updating they had though! IMHO

RE: How Level is Level

There are a lot of ways that people use to determine what is level for them, but the original poster is complaining that his "Automatic leveling" system is not doing the job, the front end is to high when it is done. The answer is to have the "Automatic system" adjusted so that it works like it was designed to work and that is to end up with a LEVEl coach after using the system. Follow the manufactures directions to adjust the system so it ends up "LIKE YOU WANT IT" not like some RV technition says that is good enough for me. All automatic systems have a device that determines when to turn off each leveler when it reaches that pre set position. Your preset position is not like you want, so have it adjusted to how YOU want it. OK? See my original post above that has links to two types of systems and how to adjust them. There are probably many more types of systems but these are tow types. A Big Amen to you Tonka!!!!!

RE: Is this one way to calculate tongue weight?

All the technical stuff aside and assuming you're interested in safety and comfort of towing, get yourself a 1K/10K equalizer....it will be $ well spent. You will not be doing anything wrong using a "equalizer brand" with this setup, quite contrary avoiding unnecesary problems for a reasonable price & more safety also...you will have a good sway control!IMHO

RE: Notched "gate" explanation?

With a standard tailgate, the air hits the front of the 5er and some goes up and over while some goes down into the truck bed. The air going down will swirl around until it finds a a way out thus causing a great deal of turbulence. That turbulence can be felt at times by the driver as well as picking up anything laying in the bed and ejecting it. With a "V" tailgate, most have screens or loovers to alow the air to smothly exit the truck bed. The 5er will tend to ride much smoother. No real gain in fuel economy, just a more stable ride. It also makes it a little easier to hook up and un hook. Keith In many thousands of miles towing with a tailgate & Fifthwheel I have never experienced this sensation! As far as smoothly exiting the truck bed Yes it will & smack into the dead front of the fiver!!IMHO

RE: Shocks on 5th wheel

Why not ask Jayco or a Jayco dealer what shocks they use? Shock absorbers are not load carrying devices, that's what the springs do. Don't get them based on their weight capacity because they don't carry any weight, just slow the spring's osolation. I would be concerned with their piston travel and piston size. Usually, the bigger the piston, the heavier duty the shock. If you get shocks that are too heavy duty, you can actually create a harsher ride; too small, they won't do what they're designed to do. This statement is correct, ask Jayco as most trailer shocks aren't very Hd to look at them!

RE: Which Costco Deep Cycle Batteries Are 6 Volt?

Costco doesn't sell 6 volt batteries Oh, I didn't know that. I know they used to sell 6, 8 and 12 volt batteries. Uhh, yes they do sell 6V Golf Cart Batteries and I just bought 4 of them there. $75 ea plus the State disposal fee of $9. They only had three on the shelf when I went in at first before I took my Toy Hauler in to get them and they got one from another Local Costco. They did all the removal from the tight spot they fit in, reconnected all wires to make 12v. They even tested them with a Hydrometer and Battery Tester at my request before we put them in Can't say enough about the Great Service I got from them. But maybe not all of them sell them or is a State thing. OBTW I have never seen an 8V Battery anywhere of the vehicle type. Is that a Marine or Aircraft application? I do know that back in the 50s & 60s some battery shops built 8 volt batteries to start the big engines in Cadillacs Lincolns & such that still ran 6 volt systems & then along came 12 volt systems.

RE: Pulling a 5th wheel a great distance

Until a year ago we always did 700 on the first day to & from Tx or Ala.as we weren't touristing just traveling to a specific. A year or so ago my Body started rebelling from such abuse so we now plan our long trips in thirds around 300 to 350 max! works great!!IMHO

RE: Generator Question

I and several friends are very happy with our Champions as they do very well what they are designed to do make electrical voltage. I do know they are a bit louder than some of the above mentioned but partially because they run at a fixed rpm. I have had many folks walk by when I might be excersizing our unit & they are plenty complimentery about how quiet it is for a $178. unit. We use it sparingly but are very happy to have it for the Rv & as a backup for the house. If nothing has changed in them you will not be disapointed with one! IMHO

RE: Black tank ruptured on the 5th parked next to me

Possibly they were backflushing the tank to rinse it. If you overfill the tank with a flusher it is possible to burst the tank. These large flat tanks will not withstand any pressure. The tank often bursts before the water rises to the top of the vent. There is at least one or two posts of that happening every year. Sometimes it even bulges and ruins the floor above the tank. I'm still trying to get my head around a tank bursting with a 2" column of liquid less than 10' high providing pressure on it. A water-column barometer holds what, about 35' at 1 atmosphere pressure (i.e. 30" of mercury)? Is there a back-flow valve in the vent that prevents liquid from rising in the vent pipe but allows gas outflow? I just don't understand how this could "explode" from pressure in the tank unless it's a closed system and you're getting 40-60 psi from the hose. Makes much more sense if a seam weakened and let loose while the tank was near-full. :h I totally agree with Lyle when you have a 2 in vent & a max 3/4 in feed line of water it makes no sense that it should cause a tank to blow up! I know of another Montana that had a tank open up and it was warranted because of manufacturing shortfall! I run both of my tank rinsers at once and stay to watch but never a problem 6 years later.MUO jb Lyle

RE: reduced fat in dog food

Hi all! I have Llasha Apso who is 6 years old. She seems to be putting weight on. We feed her 1 cup per day and 3 milk bones a day but no people food. She eats lamb and rice because she is allergic to beef and chicken. Purina one does not make a reduced fat for her. The question is after all this, is there a dog food that is low in fat and that she can eat. I am retired so the cost of her food I need to take in consideration. Before I hear about if yu love your dog you will not worry abou cost she is the love of my life but money only goes so far. So I am asking for your understanding and your help. Thanks in advance for you understanding and your help. Judy Check out Dick Vanpattens natural blends/brands they have something for all tyoes of care. We use the lowfat for our senior dog & our daughters use the one for dogs with food allergies. We get ours at Petco & our baby just loves it she had been on Eukanuba since birth but sure loves this. Our Grandaughter is almost a vet & steered us to the product!!

RE: Winterize City Water Connection (did you miss it)

don't you put the antifrezze in through the city inlet? I do, i have a hand pump you hook to the inlet and pump it in. Seems to me there will be antifrezze in there then. No as you need to winterize the pump so do the job through it. I tried the city fill trick to anti freeze it back in 01. It blew out the valve the naxt time I used it so before & since I have never worried about it & it is fine. I also have never worried about flush lines & I have two of them but again never have had a problem.6 years on this unit & every other one we have owned another 12 years.
