RE: tire pressure vs weight

Your best bet would be to have individual wheel weights done after the coach is loaded for travel. If you can't do that, use the two axle weights you have and then refer to the tire inflation tables for the make of tires you have. If Toyo doesn't have something like that, try using the Michelin or Goodyear websites. Chances are the tires are overinflated for the load you have on them.

RE: What do you think? My tow vehicle braking system

You should adjust your SMI sensitivity so that the brakes do not activate unless you are actually braking the motorhome. Not sure how the older system works but the new ones require the motorhome brake lights + deceleration to activate. Unless your exhaust brake activates your coach brake lights, the system should not come one.
I would call SMI and get the official instructions from them.

RE: Gps for Class A motorhome

Whatever you buy, make sure you can get real time traffic and free map upgrades. With all GPSs setting your route preferences is a must. Don't want to get led down a goat trail? Turn off the preference for secondary roads. Don't want to travel on toll roads? Turn that off or at least set it to "Ask".
I prefer my TomTom for these reasons. But situational awareness with either maps or your phone's mapping program is a must. Finding things on Google Maps is really helpful.

RE: Tow packages cost

Your estimates sound correct. The two most expensive parts in terms of labor are the base plate and brake system. However, depending on your skill level, these are installations you can do yourself. Instructions from the various base plate and brake manufacturers are very good. Watch the videos on the web or read through the instruction books and decide what you want to do.
The alternative is a tow dolly which can be as expensive as your estimates for flat towing or less depending on what you get.

RE: Question on brake backfeed

The normal way is to use diodes on the tail and brake circuits. I thought the Cooltech wiring harness included these. If not, look at the Tow Daddy products.

RE: Highway Restrictions - NH to SC

If you want to use I-95 through the Baltimore/Washington area, there are few things you need to consider:
1. All Baltimore tunnels are closed to any vehicle carrying propane. You will need to take I-695 around the city. You can go either way although the west side of I-695 around Baltimore is 3-6 lanes wide.
2. We have plenty of traffic almost 24 hours a day. However, things are pretty good between 10 am and 2 pm. Plan accordingly.
3. We have major road construction on I-495 in Northern VA at this time. Follow I-95 south which will take you on I-495 around the east side of Washington, DC and reconnect to I-95 after you cross the Potomac River.
4. I-95 is a major truck route (as is I-81 if you want to swing out around the whole area).
5. Richmond has a bypass around the city but going straight through on I-95 is not too bad. I'd plan to do that unless it's rush hour.

RE: Vaccums

I'd keep the Dyson for the stick house and go with this one for the RV. It's light, powerful, and only $100 at your local Target.

RE: 2012 Jeep Liberty

I just looked through those instructions last night. My impression was that the Liberty was one of the easier vehicles to install a base plate on. We are looking at a 2012 CR-V - that seems really complicated compared to the Liberty.

RE: buying a fifth wheel should be like buying a car

Why not check out Craig's list, Ebay and Ebay Classifieds? Look at privately sales. You will get a better price/value and I'll bet the trailers are clean.

RE: Hitch for a Carriage LS CK3

Carriage made a few different models - from Compass through Royals. The most popular were Cameos and Carrilites. If you truly have a Carriage (it was positioned just below a Royals), then you should probably be looking at a 20-25k rated hitch. Just the weight sticker for your dry weight and GVWR rating. it will be inside one of the kitchen cabinets. It probably has a dry weight somewhere between 14 and 16k. A 16k rated hitch is not enough.

Most of the Tiffin owners hang out on the Tiffin RV Network site - http://tiffinrvnetwork.com/ Go ahead and register and get the scoop. We like the Breeze as well but will most likely get one of the gas coaches.

RE: Hitch install question

I've installed 2 Pullrites with SuperRails in two different trucks. There may be some frame drilling required depending on your truck. If you use the SuperRails, you will have to drill 4 holes in your bed as well.
Overall, if you have average skills and can handle a drill and wrench set you can do your own. The key thing is measuring accurately to do the install correctly.

RE: upgrading to MD B license

A Class B - non-commercial is the way to go. I have talked to several dealers over the past year and they are reporting that the State Police have begun enforcing the requirements.
If I remember the requirements, you have to be able to demonstrate backing and driving the coach with your backup and side camera's turned off. Demonstrate proper control for turns, lane changes, etc. Also, you will have to pass a written exam.
If you have air brakes, you will have to demonstrate that you know the system, daily startup procedures, etc.
All of the requirements are on the MVA website.

RE: Backing Up to Engage Hitch

I modified a stick with a magnet at the bottom that I used when I had a TT. I can't see my hitch either because of the toneau cover that is rolled up. I just line that white stick up with center of my hitch and back on in. Flat magnet, 3/4 dowel, white paint - <$5.00

RE: Changing an Icloud email id

You should use the Apple Support website for the most complete answer. However, it seems like the simplest thing to do is create a second iCloud account to link your second device to.
The following link will answer most of your questions on how to do this.

RE: 5th Wheel Hitch/Unhitch Question

As to unhitching, I think everyone has covered it but I would add, instead of putting the trailer brakes on and putting the truck in reverse, put your chocks in and back into the chocks. The hitch should release.
Hooking up - you should raise the trailer until the pin is level with a point half way up the hitch head. Then back in and connect. This prevents high hitching and is the method recommended by Pullrite.
And do check the lube on the head. You could try dry lube but a thin coat of regular grease will work well.

RE: removing brake drum w/ nev r lube bearings.

I have a 4 foot piece of black iron pipe to extend my breaker bar. And all 210 lbs of me on the end was required to loosen that @#$%^&&%%$$# nut. However, I was prepared for it as my friend advised me as to what I would be facing.
Re-torquing to 150 lbs was easy.

RE: I65 South Bridge over Ohio River and 36ft MH and toad

Just Google I-65 bridge closure. The traffic delays are awesome around Louisville adding several hours to people's daily trip. It is my understanding that major truck lines are re-routing as well. The I-64 bridge is going to take you too far west if you are heading south.
Not sure what part of Ohio you are from but I would detour over and take I-75 south.

RE: FM reception sucks

Does your radio have a separate antenna or does it use the TV antenna feed? If it uses the TV antenna, turn on the booster switch before using the radio.
