RE: Florida Thunderstorm Warnings - awning in or out ?
It's never a good idea to leave your awning out overnight or when you're away from your RV, even if there isn't a storm expected. Having spent 9 winters in Yuma, we saw many awnings damaged by unexpected wind.

An RV is a lot like a boat. When we lived in Seattle we owned a cruiser. It was an excellent boat--one of the best made--but it was moored in salt water and was a never-ending maintenance job. While our RVs haven't been quite that bad for required work, it seems like things do crop up on a regular basis.
I agree that a stick house is much the same, but not nearly as much fun to work on! ;)

Buy a jar of Pace Pineapple Mango Chipotle Sauce. Saute a couple of sliced onions in a bit of olive oil for five minutes, until soft. Make a bed of the onions in a baking dish, sprinkle with salt and freshly ground pepper, then lay the halved chicken breasts, also lightly salted & peppered, on the onions. Cover with the chipotle sauce, sprinkle with oregano and bake about an hour at 350F.
It's best served with rice.

With the economy the way it is and the low ball prices people are wanting to pay for a coach, I'd keep the paid for coach and hit the road. You will be $$ ahead in the long run. 109K miles is nothing. I agree 100%.

I would recommend buying your rig before selling your house and going 'half-time' for a year or two. Keep your house-sale money in the bank(s) for a future purchase. If you never buy another 'stick & brick', you'll have that money to buy a newer RV. Just my humble opinion, of course.

I don't like my cornbread sweet. I use the recipe from the Albers Corn Meal box, only I use 1T. sugar instead of 1/2c.
The real secret to keeping it from falling apart is to bake it in a cast iron skillet instead of a baking pan. It forms a nice crust, making it easy to slice into wedges and serve. Works for me every time. :)

WA US 12 closure
US 12 in WA will be closed tomorrow night through Friday morning, per WSDOT:
Advance Notice, US 12 will be closed Thursday November 19th beginning at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Friday morning from milepost 151 near the summit to milepost 183 near Oak Creek for blasting work associated with the Tieton River Bridge replacement project.

Man,I'm glad I didn't go to Florence last week.Just got back from Maryhill SP and all we had was snow when we went up to Goldendale.. The trip up from Portland on the five was the worst weather I've ever pulled the trailer in.HEAVY rain and lot's of road spray,glad the DW wasn't with me on that run.,15-30 mph winds from the left rear quarter of the trailer and then swinging around to straight cross winds.. So I spent some time getting off the shoulder and fighting the corkscrew effect from the rear wind.. I'm sure glad that I have my Equal-i-zer hitch.Saw a Tundra and about a 30' up against one of the bridges and both had the right side all torn up.NO SWAY bar...Lost it when it started whipping and couldn't get it stopped.Says his auto dealer said that he was ok pulling that trailer with the 1/2 ton Tundra as he had enuff power to get out of trouble and really didn't need the sway bars. He did have w/d tho. I let his wife and kids stay in my rig for a few minutes till the tow trucks showed up. They had to load the trailer on a flat bed. Good work, Bigdog. Hope this reinforces the message: NEVER listen to a dealer regarding tow equipment! Glad you made it through OK. It's been really, really nasty. Typical November, I'm afraid.

Air bake cookie sheet works for me. Never any burned bottoms. You can bake biscuits or cookies on them directly or set a muffin tin, pie pan or casserole dish on top of it.

There is a 100% chance of death for a human being True, but there are WORSE things than death, like severe head injuries, for example. :D
We've experienced a tornado warning in TX, just west of Fort Worth, and all of us in the park huddled up in the laundry room. I can't say I felt a whole lot safer than in our MH, but the tornado passed two miles to the north of us, anyway. It was scary and the storm relentless.

Well, I'll do you one better! I wear 'camping clothes' every day! My wardrobe consists pretty much of nylon convertible pants and fleece tops, with some Techwick T-shirts thrown in. They have qualities I like: They are comfortable, durable, lightweight and quick drying. I don't give a hoot for fashion, at home or in the campground. When hiking, I wear actual hiking shoes. Otherwise, I wear Crocs, all year 'round. Comfortable, washable and cheap. I am fussy about my socks and prefer Smart-wool and similar blends.
And I think people should wear whatever they prefer for whatever reasons they choose. :)
