RE: Block Heater

The block heater warms the water, which keeps the whole engine warmer. As far as how long depends on ambient temp.

RE: Is 11R/22.5 the same as 275/80/22.5

Close, but not the same. If you look at tire oem websites you will see the slight differences

RE: why do MH's use steer tires front and rear?

Gotta agree with noise, but also ride quality. A "drive" tire with agressive tread will ride rougher.
Wish I could get away with "straight treads" on the rear of my dump truck.
As far as traction, with the engine over the rear wheels, if I can't get traction with my XZA's, its time to take a break.
Last year coming up from FL in that nor'easter at the end of Feb. that gave 8 in. of snow from Rocky Mount to Baltimore and about 20 degrees was a chore, but no issues with traction

RE: Finally our turn!

Good point on leaving the thermostat low, but we have so many bueatiful plants, hate to let them die.
We have some great neighbors as well, guess we will have to entrust them with the rest!
Thanks for the replys

Finally our turn!

Hello all on this forum chapter,
We are finally looking to migrate south for the colder months and have a few questions.
Who waters the plants that you leave, checks on things every once in while, yada, yada
Your thoughts,
Thanks!

RE: Michelin 22.5 xza or xrv?

Hello,
I would go with the xza's, covered and taken care of I'm going for 10 years, minimum, now about those curbs and drop offs, the shoulder is the weakest link in these tires, treasure it!

So what's up at Woodalls

Not that it matters much, but what is the scoop on Woodalls Forum not being responsive, can't log on , etc.

RE: lug nut torque indicator

The news article was a wheel end failure, not loose nuts. After torqueing that is good enough for me. Most of what I see around here is transit buses, trash trucks and the like use them, not for me though, on our bus or the work truck.

RE: oil hub seals

The vent is the key, be sure it can vent, and only fill to the full line, not the bottom of the plug.
One other thing to check is wheel end play. If just the slightest bit loose, the seal will leak.

RE: DP Front Breakes

It is not a hard job ,especially if you have outboard drums, otherwise you have to pull the hub which requires proper torqueing on lock nuts to have wheel end play proper, new seals etc, sooo?

RE: Tag Axle

If you look closer, you will see most times it depends on which way the wheel is put on. Some want the 2 axles to match(both wheels look the same) and others reverse the wheel to look like the steer axle. The offset of the wheel is different thus the difference in width. As mentioned though, some axles are different as well

RE: 04 Amer. Tradition..a good deal? freightliner chasis

At this point in the game with the industry being what it is,a FL chassis might be a plus as far as parts and service.
Not the best riding on the market, but they handle well. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me
