RE: Smoke Detector & Carbon Monoxide Detector

Look at the inside or back of the detector for a manufacture date and also for a life expectancy date. On a 2007 RV the detector could hve been made in 2006 so that is going on 6 years. My detecor false alarmed right at 6 years, so I just replaced it.

RE: Pesky Condensation Above Shower

Could it not be condensation but actually a leak in the outer skylight that is letting water form inside the inner skylight? I had a small crack in my outer skylight and the moisture formed inside the inner skylight after a rain. Take a trip up on the roof and examine the skylight for cracks and/or missing caulking.
By the way I did not seal the inner skylight to the ceiling, the four screws seem to hold it tight enought to keep moisture from entering. Also using the bathroom vent fan when using the shower to remove excess moisture will help

RE: Power steps not getting power

Most of the stepss run from the chassis battery, and since you seemed to have to use the "Override switch" to get it started, that tells me that the chassis battery is probably dead. By the way the override switch connects the House battery to the chassis battery so you can start the MH when the chassis battery is low. Check the voltage of the chassis battery first, full charge should be 12.6 volts, if not fully charged, recharge then try the steps again.

RE: Breaker Trips on Shore Power and not on Generator

You say the water heater was on electric. Was the Refridgerator also on electric? You also would have the converter on and drawing electricity. Add the draw from all 3 of these and the AC draw just might have been more then 30 amps. You might want to turn the water heater and refer to propane and then try it again. I too suspect low voltage from the park pedestal as most all the RV's in the park probably had their AC's ON

RE: Surflo 5.7 doesn't cycle

Are you sure that you have the wires hooked up correct? The 5.7 has a RED wire that hooks to the positive and a black wire that goes to Ground. If you hooked them up backwards you could have damaged the pump. Do you have the instructions that came with the pump? Here is a link to the instructions with a wiring diagram that you might want to check out.

RE: Gas water heater ignites but won't stay on

Could be a spider web in front of the propane orifice. Blow some air into the tube and run a small brush through the tube to dislodge the web. Has worked for me, worth a try as it will cost you nothing to try.

RE: squealing in wheels

If you have hub caps or wheel liners, take then off and see if the noise goes away. Look for wear patterns on the wheel where the hub caps might have been rubbing. Also you might want to check the U Joints for slack as they too can make a revolving squeak noise.

RE: Onan Microquiet 4000 genny only runs when engine is on

I have to agree with YC 1. the gen set starts and runs from the HOUSE battery. Sounds like that battery is dead or low because you said you heard a clicking sound, (Dead battery, not enough current for the gen set starter). Then when yoou started the main MH engine, the alternator provided up to 14 volts to the house battery and the gen set started. Then when you shut the MH off, the alternator stopped charging and the gen set stopped. you need to check the house battery and recharge it or replace it if it won't charge.

RE: Using Pump oil can to install brake fluid

That will work but be sure and use a brand new pump can that has never had OIL in it for the brake fluid and lable it somehow. On the same subject, I use a new pump oil can with a flex spout filled with Dexron to top off my Power gear levelers resevoir. Works like a dream because most times it only takes 2 or 3 squirts to bring it back to full. And yes it is labled.

RE: newbe leveler fluid question

Fluid in the pads usually indicate that the ram seal of that jack is seeping. If it is not that much fluid leaking I would suggest that you can probably wait until you get back to florida. I would also suggest that in the mean time that you wipe the jack ram/all rams clean with a rag and then get some clear silicone spray and spray the rams and then retract the jacks and then extend them and spray again and then retract them again. This just might rejuvenate the leaking seal temporarly. If it still leaks, just retract the jacks and don't use them until you get back to florida and get it repaired. By the way to check the fluid level all jacks have to be retracted and then add fluid until you reach the full level. By the way what brand levelers do you have? Power Gear or HWH or other brand, might help you get other solutions to the problem.

RE: HELP! What kind of vent lid do I have?

I is either a Ventline or a Jensen, or a Elixer. Go to this web site and there is a picture of all three along with pictures of the hinge types for you to compare so you get the right one.

RE: Sparker on the stove not working

The piezo electric starter is very reliable but the wire connections come loose. Check them before buying more hardware.
I agree with this, lift the stove top and visually check that the wire has not fallen off of the igniter. Happened to me after going over some rough road, wire fell off and the igniter did not work until I put it back on.

RE: 36 LED dome light $6.99 ea.

One wire is power one is direct and one goes through slide switch.
Could you elaborate what you mean by "Direct". 12 volt systems have a
wire for positive, which would be the "Power", and one wire for negative, which would be the "ground". So what do you mean by "direct"?

RE: Atwood Water Heater Need to Drain?

If you decide to drain your water heater, make sure that you refill it before turning on the electric or your propane heater. You fill it by either hooking up to city water or using water from your tank with the water pump. To fill turn ON the hotwater faucet in the kitchen and let it run until all the air escapes and you get a steady stream of water. Then do the shower hot water faucet and the bathroom sink faucet until you get a steady stream of water. Your heater is now full.

RE: Marvel Mystery Oil (MMO)

Marvel Mystery oil has been around for over 60 years. I used it back in the 1950's but have no idea if it worked. But for a company to stay in business that long, somebody must be buying it.

RE: School me on blue totes please / waste and fresh water

This is what I use for water containers.
Some like the square ones.
I prefer the solid plastic ones over the collapsible or the ones that squish down as we have never been able to find a version of them that holds up for our use.
Shopping around will yeild the best prices...
How do you connect them to teh tank drain?
I beleive these in the above link are for fresh water only, not for "dump" totes so you don't connect them to the tank drain. Dump totes usually have wheels on them

RE: reversed polarity on plug?

It should be as simple as reversing the black and white wire on the plug. Probably just need a screwdriver to do it.
Black wire goes on the "Brass colored screw" and the white wire goes on the "Silver colored screw". The ground or green wire goes on the "green colored screw"

RE: Engine brake just quit working

Is there a switch on the dash that turns it ON and OFF that might have been turned OFF? I don't know for sure that it has a switch but just a guess. Next look for a blown fuse in the fuse panel would be my next suggestion
