RE: Best Parks in the Keys

There are a number of RV Parks and most have quite a few seasonal campers; but likely have available sites. Check Woodalls or Trailer Life for listings. If you want State Parks you are probably out of luck as they are all booked 11 months in advance for the winter months.

RE: New 2008 Surveyor SV-255RS

I would try to get the dealer to provide a set of new tires with the deal. If it still has the tires it came from the factory with, they are about ready to age out and you will be replacing them soon.

RE: I-10 from Mobile, Al to Houston, Tx

There is construction on I-12 east of Baton Rouge LA and in the Beaumont TX area on I-10. Except for a secton between Lafayette La and the Atchafalaya Basin bridge the road is good. Avoid Baton Rouge during the rush hours.

RE: SF Bay to Mobile, AL in June. I-40 or I-10

Either route is a good choice. Depending on the time you have to make the trip; I would choose the one that has something of interest for you to stop and visit along the way.

RE: Air Conditioner fixed

A/Cs never need recharging unless they develop a leak. To avoid the fan sticking run it periodicly to keep it lubricated.

RE: What do I put in my water? Bleach?

Once you have sanitized the system as mockturtle said you do not need to add anything unless you take on some questionable water. It takes a long time for water to spoil especially in the cooler parts of the country.

RE: change trailer tires from 14's to 15's ??

The biggest potential problem is clearances. 15" tires will be almost 2" larger in diameter than the 14".

RE: Loud brakes

Brake shoes contaminated with grease will sometimes squeel.

RE: blinds - straighten

If they are not level because one side slides down after you have moved it, that side needs more tension. Either side should stay where you position it.

RE: Good Sam Tours

We do as Dan & Jill as we like to do our own schedule and it is generally cheaper that way. We did go the Good Sam route for the Albequerque Balloon Fest several years ago. While it was a little more than if we had done it on our own it was well run and we enjoyed it.

RE: Water Heater - LP only?

Refrigerators dont use all that much propane. The biggest user is the furnace if you run it. NOt sure what size tanks you have; but even a small tank should be enough for a couple of weekends if you don't run the furnace. Are you sure the tanks were full?

RE: Water system and bleach?

1/4 cup per 15 gal is ample. If you have a filter in the system remove the element before you clean the system and put a new one when finished.

RE: dumb to trust Tom-Tom,map quest and google map

I find it best to have both a GPS and paper map. The routes suggested by a GPS are not always the best. They are great for finding an address and most have more detailed mapping in metro areas than easily available maps do.

RE: More tire questions

Question for those ordering Maxxis tires. How are you ensuring that the dealer gets you recent date coded tires?

RE: Gas Grill Quick Connect

Sounds like propane condensate. Propane is liquified petroleum gas and made from crude oil.

RE: gas stations along La 165

165 goes thru quite a few towns and Lake Charles to Monroe is not that far so fuel availability is not a problem. I-10 between the state line and Lafayette is in good condition as most of that stretch has recently been resurfaced. East of Lafayette is another story.

RE: Route in Southern Texas Help

You could pick up US190 off of I-10 east of Ft. Stockton and follow it across to Baton Rouge, La.

RE: Travel trailer braking problem

Like Bonefish said; check the wiring. Those crimp connectors that the manufacturers use are very prone to failure. If that checks out it is likely brake adjustment.

RE: victoria tx to kinder la

US59 to I-10. Avoid the "rush hours" or go thru on the weekend. Expect road construction in the Beaumont area.
