RE: Posting New Topic Problem?

Moderator,
"Does your computer automatically change to "smart quotes"?" How would I check if it does?
It was a rhetorical question, the answer if yes.
Here is an enlargement of your apostrophe, on the left, and the "normal" on on the right.
http://i45.tinypic.com/14mx35s.jpg
If you would put single quotes around a word and looked closely, you would see that the two are not the same. It may be easier to see if you used double quotes around a word. The two quotes are not the same. But a keyboard has only one apostrophe key, has only one quote key. How did the two come out looking differently?

RE: Posting New Topic Problem?

Here is the post through Woodall's
Need help finding RV park/campground in southern NH near Troy. We have a 37’ 5th wheel. Will be in the area in mid July to visit relatives. I would even consider private property owners and would be happy to pay them a reasonable fee to stay. We have generators so can be self-sufficient for a few weeks. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance for your help.
On edit: No problem, even with the "smart apostrophe."

RE: Posting New Topic Problem?

Here is your post, made through the RV.Net portal. I had to change the apostrophe to get it to post. Does your computer automatically change to "smart quotes"? If so, that is the problem on the RV.Net portal. I'll try it on the Woodall's portal later.

RE: Posting New Topic Problem?

Interesting...
I was unable to reply a couple days ago, but I was using the percent symbol.
Using the RV.Net portal? Should be able to use a percent symbol with all of the other portals.
Of course if you enter % using the RV.net portal, your will get a % symbol that it can process.
Oh, that was a "trick" that let me display the code without it becoming a percent symbol. Copying or quoting this post will negate the "trick."

RE: Baja Hwy 1 - Road Conditions

Here is the URL for the picture.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-8eoDdB5DX9o/T75x059o-qI/AAAAAAAAHRI/FBkFck0a2sc/s720/DSC_0218.jpg
IF you paste that in the URL field of the Image tool, http://www.rv.net/SharedContent/cfb/images/editortoolbar/image.gif, leave the height and width parameter blank and click on Finished, you will see that this

is added to the message window and when your post is made, this picture will be displayed.

Note: I used a "trick" to display the syntax. Copying oar quoting this post will negate that "trick and the picture will be displayed twice."

RE: Posting New Topic Problem?

What portal (RV.Net, Woodall's, Trailer Life, etc.) are you using to enter the Open Roads Forum.
The RV.Net has had trouble processing certain characters (percent symbol, for example) for about three weeks. I suggest using one of the other portals, which are not having the same issues.
Here is a link to the Woodall's portal

Google doesn't make it easy; it seems they want everyone to come to their site to see pictures.
Hera is a tutorial that should help you.

RE: I'm realing missing something - signature

Wow Solution found. Since I joined years ago I never put in my address. When I did my signature section showed up??
When we "long-timers" registered, only username, password, and email address were required. Some user ago more information was required. For those of who had registered with any of the "newly" required fields blank, a software trap was inserted and any attempt to change preferences or profiles required the required field to be completed first.
When one with blank fields on the profile page clicks on the My Preference link, they are redirected to the profile page and a message is displayed, at the top, that states the required fields must be completed.
Those who filled in the fields when they registered, never saw the redirect.

RE: Water Fill Tank

Here is the owners manual that Coachmen has on their website for their 2010 Fifth-Wheels and Travel Trailers. At first glance, it did not seem to be all that well done.

RE: Questions about forum is it just me?

Before a picture can be posted, it must first be uploaded to a publicly available host site. There are several free ones available.
In the Posting Pictures section of RV.Net Tutorials and Picture related FAQ's at the top of this forum, you will find tutorials specific to 4 host sites.

RE: Recalculating

Our Dezl Garmin 560 doesn't say recalculating. When you pull off for fuel, rest stop, or just change the route, the device advises how to get back on course.
For example, exit before a bridge to get fuel. As you come up the ramp, the GPS will advise you to take the ramp on the other side, "Take ramp ahead."

RE: Photo Bucket issues

If you are using the RV.Net portal to the Open Roads Forum, then the problem probably arises because the filename for your picture contains a space character. Photobucket.Com changes the space to %20, which is a base 16 number for 32. For a little more than two weeks, the RV.Net Portal has not been able to process the percent symbol. (I uses a "tick" to display it in this post.)
Workarounds: Remove spaces (the %20) before you make the post.
Or use a different portal to the forum, such as Woodall's. (To date, the RV.Net portal is the only one having issues with the percent symbol.)
