RE: Suv's mirrors not big enough

i have the fitted slip ons... they have and continue to serve me well... i dont take them off i just leave them off they get shakey around 80mph (not towing) but i shouldn't be driving that fast even when i'm unhitched so i guess they help keep me in check.
harbor freight has a camera for $50 that i've been thinking of setting up for passing; its still kind of hard to judge when i've completed a pass with the mirrors so i'm giving some extra space before i get over.

RE: Small TT and Kids

boys are easyer than girls; if your going to be a weekend warrior like myself then i think your good with a small TT just watch the weight with that tow vehicle.

i was going to make shelves but for $10 this was cheaper than the wood materials id use and is lighter.

RE: Can I pull TT with my 1/2 Ton

my trailers gvwr is a couple hundred pounds over my tow raiting. (7000 pound range) but, my trailers never fully loaded and i'm lucky if i'm hitched and hauling maybe 2 weekends out of the month.
that being said i have towed into the high desert and accross the mojave durring a wind storm... over the grape vine several times... up the questa grade.
i hang out with the big rigs and its fine doesn't over heat (i added a scan gauge to my dash to monitor tranny temp)
if your tow vehicle only tows then get a bigger truck otherwise there are plenty of 1/2 ton towable's out there... make sure the trailer your looking at is one of them; knowing the dry weight is not enough i suggest taking it to the scale if you dont know the gvwr.

RE: Refueling At Gas Stations While Towing A TT

haven't come accross many stations that i couldn't gas up at.. watch for the incline/decline at the entrance/exit so you dont scrape and be a little more patient
people may block you in; and they may not care because your taking up several pumps but you will get back on the road and never see them again so relax.

RE: Could you live without your bike door?

i'll echo what many others have already said.. i rarely use mine for bikes but its awsome having that storage back there... i would strongly urge you to consider this option... i keep all kinds of stuff back there.. fresh water hoses, merc pump, stabalizer blocks, fire wood, kites, yard games/toys, bb guns, fishing poles you name it.
i refer to it as the garrage... i have used it for bikes maybe twice and it kind of sucks for bikes to be honest i fit 3 bikes back there and it was a real pain.

RE: what to use for bunk rails for 1year old.

my youngest (same age as yours) sleeps on the dinette... i cut a large pice of finished shelving board to keep her from falling off of it...
i created a slot for it to slide into using two oversized mirror hanging brackets.
when not in use the board is just put in our front bendroom along the wall... it would also fit in our pass through if needed.

RE: Organizing those bedroom wardrobes

I converted two of our shirt lockers to shelving and store clothes folded rather than hung. Using one locker each we can store about a months clothing (jeans and shirts. Socks and underwear either go on the bottom shelf or in the drawer in the night stand. DW gets one of the closets in the bathroom for her hanging clothes and I use the smaller one with the hamper in the bottom.
i've seen this done next time we go on a week plus trip thats what ill be doing... i dont plan on sitting in any board meetings that require me to be pressed and @ my best while camping.
until then i've just been sitting them at the bottom of the closet.

RE: Maiden Voyage

i was doing a lot of packing unpacking that wasn't needed... so i'm pretty much able to keep it down to one box.
i use the one box to put every thing that doesn't remain in the trailer in the trailer.. clothes, kids toys etc, then they go right back in the box when its time to go.
groceries i've found its easyer to take up a few parkin spots at the super market and get what i need on the way out of town.

RE: Connect black and gray tanks together

some other ideas.
i put a term cap that has a standard garden hose deal on it so i can gravity drain into a bucket... if gravity doesn't permit i have a merc pump.
ive read where others have installed a 3rd blade valve on the term cap so that they can open the grey... then the black and let the two tanks equalize.

RE: What length is the right length?

bigger might be better depending on how you look at it... i have a crew with a short box my TT is just under 30'.
my owners manual doesn't say any thing about length limits only weight limits so i'll drive on.
however, my lil ol ranger i once owned did say that the trailer couldnt be longer than x % of the wheel base.
so IMO; dont worry about it unless your manual says to.

RE: What size inverter

i'm running a 20" crt and dvd player off a 400 watt with power to spare for a drill charger/cell phone carger laptop charger etc...
however today i did have to buy a new one... i bought a generic brand from kragen for cheap that failed no matter what i did the red light would come on after only 5 hours of use or so.
this time i got a chicago eletric from harbor freight... they were out of stock on the 750 watt i would have got that one for the $10 price difference but ill get by with the 400.
I have mine centrally installed through the panel so i can power all the outlets in my coach with it... 2 switches one at the breaker box to select shore power/inverter power and another to provide 12v power to the inverter without me having to go outside into the pass through storage to turn it on.. (mounted up front near battery bank to cut down on voltage drop).
if you have an LCD ill also note i can run a 25" wide LCD and the same named chargers.

RE: Help the co2 sensor went off last night

you don't smell co2; if you are confident you have completley aired out the unit and nothing is burning that could produce the gas and the thing still goes off after a battery change then id go down to home depot and buy a new one.

RE: Champion 3500 Watt Generator (UPDATED and FIXED)

I will buy a second Honda 2000 some day but for now my purchase this year is going to be a Zodiac type boat for fishing.
i've been dreaming of a fishing boat for a very long time; infact when i got the money together for the TT i was originally going for a boat and DW talked me into the trailer... *sigh*
