RE: Seat belt retractor ???? 97 chev 2500

Just went out to look at taking the cover off. Pulled the belt all the wayout and "Part" way out I see that the belt was twisted some, the edge partially folded over on the center section of the belt. Took the twist/overlap out and it seams to retract much better, think I'l give it a try. Sunline1

Thanks all for your input. Just for the heck of it I'm going to take off the cover if I can figure it out, and blow it out as suggested. Sunline1

RE: Seat belt retractor ???? 97 chev 2500

Maybe i wasn't real clear in the OP. The seat belt (Driver side) works fine while while driving the truck. When I release it, get out of the truck, then try to close the door, it doesn't retract all the way and sometimes gets stuck in the door latch. In other words I close the door on the belt or the part that inserts into the hold point. Sunline1

Seat belt retractor ???? 97 chev 2500

Is there a spring or something to replace to bring back the seat belt retractor ? Mine seams to have gotten a little lazy, does sem to retract all the way all the time. Then it gets caught in the door latch assm when I close the door. Have a 97 chev regular cab k2500 chevy pickup. any thoughts etc appreciated. thanks Sunline1

RE: Compare Ford ecoboost VS Chevy 5.3 ???

CKNSLS That's what I'm cosidering the added cost for the improved performance. Since I don't tow all that often. Mostly a daily driver hauling "Air". The "solo" milage is a somewhat better on the Eco, than a 5.3. I drive less than 10,000 miles per year on average. Gives a fella alot to think about, and consider. If i had an ulimited bugdet, and would be getting a new truck every 2 or 3 years, I would buy an eco in a heatbeat. Even though I've had chevys all my life. I do believe the eco is a great truck, it's got everything going for it. I just have to make up my mind how to spend my money. Sunline1

RE: Compare Ford ecoboost VS Chevy 5.3 ???

Twain Thanks for the info on the trim level. Umaxman I keep trucks a long time current 97 chevy 3/4t 130,000 miles bought new in 97. I'm alitle concerned with the possible cost of replacing maybe 2 Turbos as well. For me I were planning on only keeping it a short time, say before the wananty ran out, I wouldn't be thinking about that. snarkee I don't want to get "dog" we already have 2 "cats" !!!!! Only kidding Thanks for your input. Sunline1

RE: Compare Ford ecoboost VS Chevy 5.3 ???

I stated in my OP that the ecoboost will out preform the chevy. Maybe I wasn't clear that I'm just trying to get an idea of how much more it will cost "ME" for that "extra" performance. I do tow with my current 7.4 chevy. I only tow (7,000 lbs)about 2500 miles total per year. So I mainly use the truck for a daily driver. I'm just trying to make up my mind if it's worth it to "ME" to spend the extra $$$, for more performance. Thanks All didn't mean for this to get into a chevy vs ford debate. Primary concern was which trim level on the chevy is comparable to the "XLT" on the ford. So i could compare prices. I also agree chevy has a lot of dicounts etc., the ecoboost being a somewhat new offering probably isn't being discounted that much right now. Sunline1

Compare Ford ecoboost VS Chevy 5.3 ???

Thinking about getting a new pickup. On a chevy pickup (1500) what trim level would be fairly comparable to the "XLT" on the ford (150)? Going to compare the pricing, as well as I can. From what I've heard and read, the ford ecoboost will probably out perform the chevy. Some how I think it will cost more out of the pocket to buy it. But I'm interested in cost difference, just for my own comparision. I want to see if the cost/performance difference is justified in my own mind/buget. Any info appreciated. Thanks Sunlin1

RE: 97 silverado hood won't open ???

Took a screw driver and hammer. Tapped where cable goes into hood release under hood and it popped open. Cable is working release. What's the best thing to luricate it with ? Silicone spray as mentioned ? the release lever on th ehood latchis shinny, maybe it needs adjusting ? Sunline1

97 silverado hood won't open ???

97 K2500 std cab pickup, can't get the hood open. The handle inside the truck has no effect on the opening the hood. I checked and the cable is stll attached to the handle. when the handle is fully extended, I can still pull the cable alittle I'm not sure if it's attached to hood release (under the hood), doesn't seam like it. Looked in the grill and found what seams to be the backup latch that prevents the hood from flying all the way open once it's agar. Pulled it with a pair of pliers, It of course has no effect on opening the hood also. Any advise and or inputs appeciated. Thanks Sunline1

RE: Ford Eco Boost pickup ???

Skip Thank's for your complete, and detailed reponse. Sounds like a great truck. I got that it's a Super Cab, long box. Do you know the rear end gear ratio ? I might have some more questions later, if so I will send you a PM. Thanks again Sunline1
