RE: Awnings for fiver windows

Any RV dealer can order and install them. Shouldn't be a problem finding a match to your existing awning. Here's a link for Dometic and Carefree.

RE: 7 way in truck bed?

As Luke noted 2" is the size. But Forwardho has a good idea of pre-drilling in a scrap of wood.

RE: Water Softener?

I added the RV-PRO 10000last year. Did make a difference in "water hardness". Water softners won't treat or reduce bacteria in your water lines...that's a job for the yearly sanitization with chlorox solution.

RE: KOA Resort Fee

Currently a KOA member, however if the $5 "resort fee becomes commonplace, I will not renew. When I stay at a KOA, I have never used anyhting but the campsite. IMO, better option is for them to charge those that are using the additional amenities otherwise it is a rate increase in disguise.

RE: Hitch Advice

If you have a full size bed, you have the set-up for the B&W--go with that. However if you have a short bed, a slider would offer peace of mind instead of "you may be OK"
I have the Pullrite slider and have never had problem unhitching and if I ever do, pulling two pins is a lot quicker, less stressful and less expensive than replacing my rear window.

RE: Harrisburg to Myrtle Beach

Agree with the I81 to I 66 to route 17 and then I 95 (295 around Richmond depending on the time of day). Rte 17 can be a pain at times but usually is good, Fredericksburg is always congested. I81 to 64 to 95 is all interstate. It does have the mountain climb. Even though it is interstate all the way it does add about an hour on to the trip.

RE: VuQube Portable Satellite System

I have the VueQube 2000 and DISH. The 2000 can be used with either DISH or DIRECT and is capable of receiving HD programs. Programming the unit is easy and takes less than a minute then turn on the unit and it automatically will find the appropriate satellite(s).

RE: Open Range

I have a 2010 385RLS 5er. I have probably >80 use days over the last 2 camping seasons. Only some minor, typical problems found with many new units. Completely happy with the unit. My dealer has been very good and I can't say enough about them (Lerch RV in PA). I have contacted OR directly to ask a few questions and their customer service has been very responsive. Overall, my opinion is that OR's are well constructed with above average amenities for the price.

RE: PSI for blowing out lines...?

I believe that I heard Gary Bunzer mention recently that waterlines need to be tested at the factory for up to 85 PSI, not 100% certain of this number but I that's what comes to mind. With this, I use 45-50 PSI. It does the job and present no risk. Wouldn's CFM's only come into play when a tap is open and the air is moving thru the system? When the system is closed I would think one would worry more about PSI as the water lines are rated to PSI. The more CFM that compressor is capable would allow for a greater volume of air which would flush out the lines more thoroughly and allow for less water trapping.
As for me, I blow out the lines (45 PSi)and then followup with the pink stuff.

RE: Taking hitch out of truck bed

I have a 18,000 Pullrite glider. After my first back-breaking experience removing it by brute force, I now use a hand truck and a set of ramps.

Another nod to 303. Leaves a nice shine with little work, suppose to help protect from UV rays and no petroleum by-products

RE: Quakerwoods Campground in PA

I did a drive thru of Quakerwoods last year when looking for a CG in the Allentown area. It is not at all what is pictured on their web site. The biggest problem that I saw driving through it was that there are a number of ill placed trees that would make it near impossible to navigate any rig of any length (over 25-28 feet). One tree was actually in the middle of a "T" intersection. Stopped and talked to a person that was staying there in a Class A, he said he had to do some tricky manuevering to get into the site he was in. His general opinion was that if he wasn't already in the site, he would have went elsewhere and would definitely not return.

RE: JT's LVL-1 Wireless Electronic Level??

I have had one for about four years. It works as advertised and yes a couple of levels would do the same thing but what is life without gadgets. The "JT" does give reading in inches and degrees so you get a very good idea on how much adjustments you will need. The only negative that I have found is that if you don't remove the batteries from the sending unit, they do go dead after a few weeks of non-use.

RE: Speaking of pull test....

I guess I'm one of the overly caution ones...I have a pullrite with the jaws painted red and the flange of the Kingpin painted white. After hearing and seeing the locking handle/jaws move to the closed position, I visually check for red over white. I then raise the legs to about an inch off the ground, leaving the wheel chocks in place, I manually set the breaks to full and do the pull test. Probably overkill, but it does provide a peace of mind and doesn't take very much time.

RE: Gettysburg to Plattekill-Newburgh NY

581 is a much easier connect to 81 from 15 especially pulling a toad. 15 through Camphill and Enola is a PIA--traffic lights, a shopping mall, two lane road--and then you have to enter 81 in the middle of a construction zone. 581 is a divided 4 lane highway with no traffic lights with an extended entrance onto 81.

RE: Gettysburg to Plattekill-Newburgh NY

I-76 doesn't directly connect to 81. You might want to consider 15 North to 581 West to 81 North to 84

RE: Winegard Carryout 1518 OR VuCube2000?

VuQube user here. I have had no problems with stability even during periods of high winds. Easily programmed and is compatible with DISH (all--including DISH-HD) or DIRECT. Uses AC current which to me is more convenient than 12 volt. For me the VuQube has been a solid performer and have no complaints.

RE: Help With Aiming Dish TV Antenna

I now have a VueQube (got at a very reasonable price). Prior to that I had a DISH 500 and after struggling with getting it aimed, I took the plunge and bought the "Align-A-Site Satellite Finder". It is a little expensive but it works just as advertized. I now use it handheld to locate a spot to set up the VueQube.

Air Lifts here also. Installation not difficult. Did in my garage with a floor jack. Would be a whole quicker if you can put the truck up on a lift.
