RE: bunkhouse or NO bunkhouse?

kiddo is 7.
If kiddo is only 7 right now, she's probably not having too many friends go camping with her. Wait until she's 11, 12 and older. My next younger sister and I were close in age, we never had a friend go camping with us. However, my youngest sister was much younger, so always took a friend along once us older girls quit going.
When we did go camping, it was a royal pain to sleep on the dinette. I never wanted to get up that early! Plus, you couldn't stretch out very well. If I had kids going with me now, I'd want a bunk for each one.

RE: One goodie you save just for camping/trips?

Bacon!
Really?... In our house bacon and bacon grease is a staple! ;)
Dak
I love bacon, but don't like to smell it all day. When we're camping, we cook it outside. I guess we could cook outside at home, but we just save it for a trip instead.

RE: How does one Become a Texas resident?

I've been in Texas for almost 40 years - married one and raised 3. I've finally quit claiming my California heritage! :D Anyway, I wanted to add one more requirement to the list... Gotta include "fixin to", as in "I'm fixin to cook supper or I'm fixin to go to the store" :D

RE: As requested, Red Max Pro instructions

Do you suppose this would work on a Jeep Wrangler Hardtop? Or is that a different type of fiberglass?

RE: White gravy for breakfast biscuits?

I usually use a mix of extra virgin olive oil and butter, adding in flour to make my roux. And, I use half and half instead of milk. No measurements, I've done it long enough it's automatic. I do typically use a pint of half and half, and add milk if I get it too thick.

RE: Intolerance

After all, as all of us non-smokers know, the smoke will find you.....no matter what direction the wind is blowing!
My mama always told me that smoke follows beauty!

RE: Intolerance

I would also suggest practicing a few of the twelve Scout Laws I learned well over fifty years ago; Helpful, Friendly, Cautious, Kind, Cheerful.
I only have one thing to mention... As a former Scout Mom, and mother of three Eagle Scouts, I believe it is Courteous, not Cautious. :D
Other than that, I agree.

RE: FOODSAVER

I've had two... one a long time ago and another the last few years. The best tip I can give you is find a place on the counter for it, otherwise, "out of site, out of mind". :D The one I had a long time ago got little use because I had to drag it out of the cabinet each time I wanted to use it. Before too long, it was easier to grab a baggie or plastic container. Finally, it quit working from non-use!
About 5 years ago, I found one on sale and decided to try again. This time, it sits on the counter and is used constantly. It will be replaced when I wear it out. Many times, I won't use the vacuum part when I'm sealing sauces, just push the majority of air out and seal. They still freeze and keep really well.

RE: wife reads alot!!!

I love my Nook Color. I still read "real" books from the library, and have purchased one or two when I spot a good price, but mostly I purchase cheap ebooks when I find them. The Nook Color is back lit and can be read in bed with the lights out, I do that all the time. The brightness of the screen can be adjusted easily and I haven't had any problems reading while outside.
The Calibre program is a wonderful addition to your pc, and can convert different formats to the required one. I had several books in the old pdb format (Palm) and Calibre converted to epub for my Nook. I'm guessing it would do the same for Kindle formats.
It is Wifi, not 3G, so I have to go book shopping before we leave on a trip. Or, locate a Starbucks or McDonalds if I'm on the road. So far, it hasn't been a problem. I also have a few games (including Angry Birds - it's addicting!), however the battery goes a lot faster when I play games.
I have several friends with the Kindle or the Nook, and we all love our specific brand.

RE: Need macaroni salad recipes please

My Macaroni Salad is a bit different than most, but it's very good. We have it year round, including Holiday dinners.
Approx 8 oz small elbow Macaroni, cooked and drained
1 medium cucumber, diced
1 medium bell pepper, diced
3-4 stalks salad/green onions, chopped with more of the green part than the white part
1 small jar pimentos, diced (optional)
Mayonnaise
Salt
Pepper
Mix together with enough Mayonnaise to coat all ingrediants well, salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes before serving. May need to add more mayonnaise if it "soaks" into the pasta.

RE: The Kindle and kindle books

Kindle and Nook owners are kinda like Chevy and Ford owners - Both like theirs best! I have a Nook Color and love it. The biggest difference for me was the format each uses. I already had a few books in the e-pub format (Nook uses) and that's why I wanted the Nook, I didn't have to re-purchase those books or deal with any "converting" programs. The Nook Color is backlit, so I can (and have) read in a dark room. I've also added a few game apps, including Angry Birds and a few children's books for my grandson.
