RE: Greenball Tires???? Any good?

They came stock on my DF. They were fine until the 10K mark then a blowout, then a big bubble on the sidewall then I bought all new. I have read that any trailer tire is only rated for 10K miles.

RE: handling a fifth wheel

I don't even let my wife out of the truck anymore. Just too embarrassing!! DW would be waving her arms doing hand signals that no person on earth could understand, just for the amusment of the other campers I guess, because I could never see her in my mirrows.
OMG! I recall the first time my wife tried to back me in somewhere. Doing some strange duck dance and my son standing in front of her doing his version of YMCA. I just stopped and laughed for a few until my wife came up to ask what was wrong, as I wiped the tears from laughing from my eyes I told her that was the funniest thing I had seen in weeks. WE use walkie talkies now and she is getting better but I still get out to look.

RE: RV SHOW PRICES?

When we bought ours our sales guy gave a better price outside the show. In my opinion shows are to get interest going on your product and glad hand as many perspective buyers as possible. We used the show to narrow down what we liked and disliked about the many many models and many many dealerships and salesmen and purchased after the show. I am a person who is big on personal service and picked the dealership to purchase from in this manner. Post purchase there have been a couple of hiccups but all in all they have taken care of us well.

RE: 5th-wheels in sand

Don't worry just go. We drag ours out on the beach in Oregon all the time. Have I been stuck YES and I lived to tell about it. Air down to about 20# on all the tires and make sure you have a way to air them back up. The time I was stuck I had aired down the truck but not the trailer I aired down the trailer and she pulled out like we were never stuck.

RE: Something for your RV that far exceeded your expectations?

Weber Q220 that thing works awesome. I did have one self inflicted issue with it and when I called Weber customer service and spoke to a live person (as opposed to dead) they sent me the new parts free of charge.

RE: Which pumps do you use?

Mostly truck pumps here. Just like most have said send the copilot in with the pump number and CC filler up and get out of the way. I have only had one trucker be upset and he was in filled and parked front of me and inside the store paying and complaining about the RV at the truck island to the girl behind the counter while my wife was behind him. My wife has no problem speaking her mind and let guy have it.

RE: Any Long trips WITHOUT tire blowouts

WE put at least 10K on our original ST tires before we started seeing problems. I have read that ST tires are only good for 10k-12K at under 65mph. When we replaced we went to LT tires

RE: Using Ramp To Change Tire Instead Of Jack

you WILL overload the tire thats on the "jack". will you hurt the tire.??? I made one and it worked ok. to remove the wheels to repack the bearings and not too much longer I noticed ply seperations in the tires. I replaced all the tires and burnt the jack.
I had 1 tire blow out and ran the other tire up on a ramp to change the flat. When I got to change the 4 tires the only one that wasn't damaged by separation was the one that went up the ramp. I have used the ramp method and the jack method they both have worked and there have been instances where one or the other wouldn't work. So I am prepared to use the ramp or my trucks jack on the spring hanger whichever works best to get me back on the road.

RE: Brake drum temps?

Don't you mean 5 clicks? 5 turns I would think you would have no brakes at all.
I was told snug the pads against the drum then back off 5 turns on the adjuster
Yes five clicks not five turns. thanks

RE: Can our new truck pull our trailer?

It will do just fine. I loved my Hemi it sure was a fun truck to drive. Your won't pass many gas stations when towing and you are supposed to run midgrade through it (89 octane). I was in the single digits towing and the best EVER empty was 18mpg.

RE: Warranty issues - RV Direct

Well in my opinion: If I ran a dealership I would put a higher priority on customers that purchased from me. There are alway independent repair places that will work with factories and warranty repair. Have you tried to negotiate with the dealer to get a better price something like "I really want to with you to make this deal, however I am getting a far better price from another source." Give them the price you want to pay and see if they can match or at least get closer.

RE: tire upgrade or not

I would go with the biggest ST tire your wheels can handle and no mather the millage after 5 or 6 years put new tires on the expense will largely compensate for the troubles of having blow-outs on the road and ruine a day of vacation if not damage your rig
Gaetan
I am no way a tire expert but I have read on the web that ST tires are only expected to last around 10-12k miles so with the miles we have put on our trailer our Greenball E rated 16" ST tires started separating right about that magic 10K mile mark. We had one blowout then the next trip a very large bubble appeared on one sidewall we replaced all four at that time with larger LT tires, while being changed there was tread separating on a third tire in the center. I really do hope the LT tires hold up better.

RE: Elk in Colorado

Come up this way. They are all over. We have a good sized herd that lives in the hills behind our house and my inlaws have a cabin and the elk are considered a nuisance by the local town.

RE: Timing\Strategy for Filing Roof claim ?

I had a tree fall and one of the limbs slid down the edge of the rubber roof slicing it open. This was clearly an insurance claim on my 2007. A rubber roof beginning to show it's age after 11 years would not be an insurance claim in my opinion. I am assuming you are talking about your 1999 Travel Supreme , 33 RLSS.

RE: body parts needed

I don't think your claim will be near that much. I have a 500.00 deductable. I had the same exact situation happen went to my local dealer and ordered the panel from the mfg 75.00 delivered to my dealership. My plastic fender was still usable with the help of some washers (but it was 50.00). The blow out did rip some of the fabric used to protect and hold the insulation up, I trimmed it clean and taped a large area with gorilla tape 17.00 then painted on gorilla glue 10.00 to seal it (suggested by my dealership). Two tubes of caulking one clear and one white 20.00 total. 1 roll of that putty tape (I forget the name) 15.00. 1 afternoon bonding with my trailer. It did take about 5 hours and a second trip to the store but it came out very well. My dealership quoted me 400.00 to R&R using my parts. Tearing into the project did seem daunting at first but turned out to be pretty straight forward. Totoal cost out of pocket was under 150.00.

RE: Dealing pricing question

We ordered form the factory and had three dealerships quote apples to apples. Then we had the dealership we liked match the price. As it turns out they are the only ones still in business.
