Start with the can on the far left, it will make the rest of it a little better. :)

RE: Why is the "Mystery Campsite" thread closed...?

....just to put a bit of weight behind some of the humor (and the humor is truly great this cold snowy morning here, at -15C wind chill and snow/ice!):
How do I copyright a name, title, slogan or logo?
Copyright does not protect names, titles, slogans, or short phrases. In some cases, these things may be protected as trademarks. Contact the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, 800-786-9199, for further information(1).
How do I protect my idea?
Copyright does not protect ideas, concepts, systems, or methods of doing something. You may express your ideas in writing or drawings and claim copyright in your description, but be aware that copyright will not protect the idea itself as revealed in your written or artistic work (1).
Copyright protects the particular way authors have expressed themselves. It does not extend to any ideas, systems, or factual information conveyed in a work (2).
The above, extracted through copyright "fair use", quoted for the purposes of comment, (1) and (2) sited from: U.S. Copyright Office www.copyright.gov
This would be the framework within which this situation could be argued...:)

Seems the thread I started, I can ony assume by using the term
Mystery Campsite, was considered an infringment? on the Eagle Cap forum by the moderator there. See link in last post on the closed thread.

RE: New Camper, advice requested

You have made an excellent choice. Hallmark builds one of the finest campers out there. They will stand behind their product.
The compressor fridge is a worthwhile investment, you should also consider adding LED's lights and AGM batteries if this model does not have them installed already. Side awnings are very nice to have installed as well.
Congratulations!!! You have made the right choice!!

RE: Hallmark owners, are you happy?

Hallmark builds some of the finest quality units available on the market today. They offer excellent customer service- before and after the sale.
I would highly recommend Hallmark----
Stay tuned I heard through the grapevine- OK facebook. They have some very innovative enhancements coming online soon. These enhancements are game changers !!

I didnt read if you have a hitch?? I would strongly urge to to consider a BW turnover / companion hitch.

RE: gooseneck versus 5th wheel hitch

With an undergraduate degree with a minor in physics, I can tell you that I don't see any different forces exerted on the frame with either hitch. Actually, the ball hitch system may actually exert less stress on side to side forces than a conventional fifth wheel hitch. Think about it, if the truck is at an extreme angle side to side on a fifth wheel hitch, then that stress beyond what the hitch can absorb is transferred to the trailer frame. With a ball, that angle can be extreme before the ball hitch system cannot twist anymore.
Personally, I think this is an urban RV legend that warranties are voided and the frame is subject to failure with a ball hitch. Someone show me with a citation where a warranty is voided and/or a frame failed because of this hitch.
"urban legend" that warranties are voided??? Make the call to a manufacturer and ask them the simple question....Some will tell you it's ok to tow their 5er's with a GN hitch, most will tell you that if you tow their 5er with a GN hitch, some or all of your warranty will be void...not an urban legend...just a fact that can be proven with a phone call....
But YOU must make the phone call. YOU won't believe it if anybody else does and reports the results on this forum. YOU will only believe what YOU are told by the manufacturer.
Do us all a favor, and make the call. You just might learn something.
"I can tell you that I don't see any different forces exerted on the frame with either hitch."
Y'know, we have been through discussions of the principles of leverage many times in these threads. I simply don't choose to do it again. As a retired A&P mechanic with a firm background in weight and balance, I remember the principles quite well.
I won't comment on my opinion of your physics education, if you truly don't understand the principles involved, except to say it is sad that you wasted all that money!I completely agree with Mowermech. Any 'physicist' that can't see a difference in torque between a 3 inch long lever and a 2 foot long lever obviously didn't learn the material in his most basic high school physics class, let alone university level physics class.
Mowermech and SoCal
Very well stated-

RE: gooseneck versus 5th wheel hitch

A GN adapter is nothing more than a "lever". Actually we should all be speaking of the GN "lever" .
Have you ever seen a "pin" box peeled back like a can of sardines?? I have- it aint pretty- actually this could have been catastrophic accident on the roadway.
The GN "lever" exerts tremendous strain on the FW pin box....just dont do it... I will let the engineers do the math on the forces at work...

After seven years of doing this, I have decided that "full use of the truck bed" is a vastly over-rated feature.

RE: Fifth wheel hitches

I talked with B&W in late October and thet said there would be a hitch out soon to fit the new Ford prep' similar to the Companion. He even gave me the part number - 3300.
Interesting- Do you know if they will be using the Reese ball mount?

RE: Fifth wheel hitches

Does anyone know if B&W is going to make an adapter will work on the Ford factory prep
I think you would be trying to put a round pin( Reese ) in a square hole (BW).
I would be surprised if either company would make an adapter- without engineering the lower end of the hitch mount on their own paper ;)
The beauty of the BW Companion design is there are no rails mounted to the bed. Which gives you complete access or use of your bed.
