RE: Always somebody worse off!

he minivans still are sales leaders, currently outselling the import models. In fact, the minivans are one of the few bright spots so far this year for Chrysler/Dodge. .
Agree. So why are they killing the Caravan? I suspect the Caravan draws in some buyers who end up in other models, so killing the Caravan will probably hurt sales of some of their other cars.
The Caravan pretty much killed itself. Americans are fed up with inferior quality, poor fit & finish, and more plastic than a Toys-R-Us store. Honda & Toyota (but primarily Honda) are dominating this market segment. No need for buyers to settle for less.
I think you are the one who needs educated, the Chrysler minivans are CURRENTLY the top sellers in this segment. Honda and Toyota are doing well just to try to keep up sales wise. The 2006 Dodge/Chrysler minivan model recently won a long term reliability award.
Don't flatter yourself by your attempted "education" of me. I have read enough of your rantings to know you are clearly a Toyota supporter. And, to an even greater extent, a basher of anything Chrysler related.
If the Caravans are doing so well, why their demise? Selling more doesn't make them better vehicles. Plus, 2006 is now ancient history. If you don't like my 'rantings' you can simply block me. Seems to me you keep reading my posts because you enjoy being 'educated' by somebody who's been in the industry for over 27 years and knows what he's talking about (after all, if I didn't, would I have survived that many years in the industry? I think not.)
Toyota supporter & Chrysler basher, you say? I call them as I see them. Your opinion is just as valuable, regardless of your field of expertise.
I find self praise is quite often a dubious source of validation.
And as far as longevity studies are concerned, I fail to see how a 3 year study of LONG TERM reliability is ancient history. The study was initiated in 2006 and concluded in 2009. I'd hardly call that "ancient history".
As far as the demise of the "Caravan", I've read conflicting reports about that. Some sources I've read say the Caravan isn't going anywhere. From wikipedia,"On November 4, 2009, Fiat announced that "the Dodge Caravan, assembled in Windsor, Ont., will remain in the company’s product line until at least 2014".."
Also, I just took another look at the 5 year plan over at www.allpar.com, and the Caravan is included in the Dodge lineup thru 2014. I think the rumors of its demise have been a bit premature.
Well, looks like we'll all be driving Chrysler products real soon. Thanks for enlightening me.....................:C

RE: Always somebody worse off!

I knew it wouldn't be long before turninghawk or one of his toyota buddies posted this article. No surprise there.
Just to educate you a little, my friend:
I am not a Toyota dealer
I do not own a Toyota (the last one I owned was in 1978)
I have no intention of buying a Toyota
Clear enough?
Just passing on what I find that may be of interest to folks on this forum, and nothing more. I don't have a dog in this fight.

Always somebody worse off!

Interesting article entitled "Forget Toyota. Chrysler's got the most problems" this morning on CNNMoney.com -- a bit of an eye-opener.

RE: What is a Big Rig

An 18 wheeler commercial semi-truck and trailer combination. Everything else is just an RV. In my opinion, there is no such thing as a "big rig" in RV-land.
Absolutely.

The following articles are on the same incident that the OP posted about. These may answer some of the questions discussed on this thread.

RE: Hello Houston, we have a problem

Please....the guy drove for 30 MILES!!!!!!
Only bad drivers are victims of a sticking throttle.
Don't blame Toyota for a drivers inability to control his/her own vehicle.
I guarantee you one thing --- within THIRTY MILES I'd have found a way to bring that car to a stop.
The guy sees the deep pockets of Toyota, and figures with enough quick publicity (warranted or not) his check will be forthcoming.

RE: Looks like a good deal?

Another CL bogus ad -- think about it, he could have taken it to virtually ANY dealer and got way more than that wholesale. Don't be fooled by CL ads like that -- the site's full of them.

RE: Toyota Tundra

Hey tomman58, here's a newsflash for ya: Texas, Indiana, and California are still states in the United States, virtually where ALL US-sold Toyota trucks are built. That Southeast Michigan mentality is really showing!!
Where did it look like Mr Toyota lives to you? You know he was on TV last week apologising for his vehicles.
I work for a foreign company. Yes part of it is in the US. But it is still a foreign company.
Toyota may be a foreign company, but they are building AMERICAN-MADE trucks in AMERICA, providing jobs for AMERICANS. Lots and LOTS of Americans. Got a problem with that?

RE: Toyota Tundra

As you know, I'm an independent automobile dealer.
I just added 145 shares of Toyota to my portfolio today.
Toyota still makes, and will continue to make better vehicles than Ford, Chrysler, or GM. (Frequency of repair records & resale values are just two of many things that prove it).
Do I personally own a Toyota? No. Am I likely to buy one? No.
Trust me, Toyota is here to stay (although I AM keeping a close eye on Hyundai/Kia -- they're worthy of watching!)
Just stating facts, purely as I see them.
Take it for what it's worth.................:C

RE: To buy or not to buy

If it's what you want, buy it.
Comparables will be difficult to find on such a unit, especially on Craigslist. Bear in mind if you DID find a comparable on CL, it would only show what somebody is ASKING for theirs, not what it sold for. Forget CL and go to a real site, Ebay. Go to the 'advanced search' option & search 'completed listings' -- those in green are the ones that actually sold.
But, back to my original thought -- if it works for you, buy it.
