RE: Alternate to carrying guns while RVing

I always feel that the major concern is a carjacking or being attacked while at a stop light. I have no fear of needing to protect myself in a campground, mainly on the road, gas stations and parking lots outside resturants. Just a few months ago in Milwaukee a group of young thugs went down the center of cars in a traffic jam pulling people out and beating and robbing them. Good luck with that wasp spray. If wasp spray is your only protection you will need to carry it with you EVERYWHERE. I have a hard time hitting a wasp nest at 20' with the first squirt, imagine the small eyes of a masked, moving robber with glasses. I would keep my bat if I were you.

RE: Ok, how do I get the TC on a trailer.

Get a couple of 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" Schedule 40 PVC pipes cut them in half so you end up with 4 pieces 5' long. Back the trailer under the front of the camper and lower it onto the pipe. Strap the camper to the trailer so it won't roll off the trailer. Raise and store the front jack and back up a couple of feet and add another pipe between the trailer and camper. Repeat until all jacks are removed. You can now push the camper into position by moving the pipe to the front of the camper after it has been rolled out the back. Once in position raise with jacks just enough to remove the pipes and then lower it back down.
I recommend a couple of extra sets of eyes, preferably attached to some weak minds and strong backs.
PVC is used to move storage sheds around on lawns. A couple a pry bars (2x4's) and they can put one any where you want.
If you use this method make sure you are on level ground and have holdbacks front and rear while moving.

RE: vegatable oil in to diesel

First,
Do you have a good source for used veggie oil?
The days of pulling up behind restaurants and getting their used cooking oil are over..
This is completely untrue. After 1/1/12 the $1.00 tax credit has been discontinued, therefore the resturants are back having to pay to have the stuff hauled out. Also someone said not to get very far from home, well I have a range of over 3500 miles before I need to refill which can be done in every state of the union (even Hawaii)from a network of people. Talk to the people that have done it, not to the all knowing people that have just heard rumors. 85,000 miles on veggi and not sorry.

RE: CPAP

I have a chin strap and it does not work. It will hold your mouth closed but not your lips. I have serious dry mouth problems that can be so severe that it feels like you burned your mouth with hot coffee. I use the heated humidifier and have a Resmed mask. All that I find that works is shipping tape. Taping your lips together can seem a little bit of a problem but it works. Be careful removing it as it will take skin if not done right. When it is painful enough, you will try anything!!!

RE: TC mounted on tandom axle trailer

I have seen pic of these somewhere that were done really nice. They had one that I remember that had a firepit in the middle of the trailer and a wroughtiron fence all around on the edge of the trailer and a canopy over the top and used it as a deck.

RE: Help from anyone who can think like a thief

All are good ideas but no one is thinking like a thief. First off what is to stop a person from putting a cinder block under your axel and sticking a knife through the sidewall on your tire? Your honda is gone in the time it takes your tire to go flat.
Also what is all of this talk of cordless grinders, you have a running powerhouse 6" away.
What I do is wrap a cable around it through the handle and padlock it to the camper. Recharge the batteries while I am there and put the honda away when I am gone

RE: Diesel Truck Winter Starting Recommendations....?

I also have a 05 F-350 and I believe that when you turn the key on the glo-plugs stay on for either 60-90 secs. The light will go off after about 10 secs. When cold I leave my key on for about 45 secs before starting and plug my truck in below freezing. I have started the truck this way well below zero. Just try leaving your switch on for 45 secs before cranking the engine and I think that you will notice a difference.

RE: For diesels only - Straight Vegetable Oil

You go first, and let us know how it works for you!
I have 87,000 miles on my 6.0 I expect to put another 100,0000 miles on which will put me at almost 300,0000 miles on the truck. The trick is CLEAN fuel and a good system. It is widely known the best system is http://www.biofuelstechnologies.com/
