Wouldn't that be a little over weight pulling with say a 1500 yukon 5.7 with 3.73 gears fully loaded? (4 people)What about the short wheelbase of the Yukon?

I don't know if I can put myself to drive a big 2500 long suburban, that probably would be my best bet to have the the camper that we would like the most and we could fit more than 4 people in the car."
I had a similar incident with sway when I had my '99 Coleman Utah. That was a BIG reason I bought the Hensley when I got my travel trailer.
Go test drive a 2500 Suburban. You will be amazed how nice they can get a 3/4 ton truck to ride and respond. I doubt I can ever go back to a 1/2 ton.

I agree that if your wanting a 26' TT with a big slide, you are going to need to go bigger than the Yukon. We have a 27' Jayco Eagle w/bunks and a sofa/dinette slide out. The slide out really adds on the weight.

A yukon for the size trailer you desire is nott the way to go. Weigh the Yukon, add passengers and cargo. Now take this total from the GCWR and you have the max. loaded weight you are rated to tow. Also, take this total loaded weight from the GVWR and that is all of the tongue weight you can support on the truck.
Next, the Yukon is a short wheelbase, high profile vehicle and these characteristics do no make for a good tow vehicle.
I'd look at a 3/4 XL or 'Burb.

the Outback 28 BHS is all aluminum framing making it a dry weight of 4930. And the slide out is pretty good sized.

How does your new rig tow in comparison with the coleman pop-up rig? Do you have as much sway?

I have no sway with my current travel trailer. But I am using a Hensley hitch.

As far as en Expedition, a buddy of mine has one and we took it to Phoenix from Ohio to pick up a car. We hit a big canyon outside of Phoenix and it did great. Sure did need the brake controller though. I never noticed the high center of gravity at any time. Even doing 100MPH out in the open it did fine.

Go 3/4 ton. We own a 1/2 ton Chevy Suburban Pulling a 27' with a dinet and sofa sleeper slide-out. It weights in loaded at about 7400#. It has put the truck to its max at times (after the gear in the tow vehichle is taken into account also.) At any real hill it starts to dog on us. It is a big truck but very under powered. We have done as much as we could to beef it up without making it a 3/4. Our next move is the 3/4 ton. as Tim the Tool Man would say "ah More Power".
